I have noticed this video growing so I thought I would add some help down here in the comments. So what I did to brake the bead is I got a long 2x4 and put it right against the rim. Then to get them of 2 screw drivers worked to get the tires of of the rim. The hard part was putting the new Sun F tires on. I just put the rim on the tire and pushed it into the tire and got it on easy. Then to get the second part on It worked with me alone having the scre driver walking the bead around. It would have been easier if I could have held the tire down. That's why with 4 screw drivers 2 poeple it was easy.

I've discovered that once you get the rim loose of the tire, an old lawnmower blade flipped upside down works just as good as a tire spoon. Helps to install the new rubber on as well.

Great job, love the video! I can tell you this with certainty, this isn't about saving money, though you think it is at this stage in your life. What you're doing is about learning how to be self-sufficient and developing into a real man! As far as saving money, you did not actually do that, it actually cost you money if you value your time! Now if you're like me and many other folks, your time learning is far more valuable than a dollar! I've witnessed my whole life folks that cannot wipe their ass, literally can't perform an oil change or check the tire pressure in their car or change a flat with a spare on the side of the road, they pay someone to do those things for them. That's fine and dandy as ling as their occupations afford them that luxury, and many of them afford it with ease, in fact, almost to a point to where it just doesn't seem all that fair, haha! Someone that can hardly even survive in life but has an abundance of cash can have it so easy, haha! Now fast forward to a time that appears to be not so far in the future on our side of the planet when currency is worthless and all the skills you developed by "wasting your time" will make you a very valuable human being, and when all these folks that were once able to buy their way through life will be looking at you to take care of them, funny isn't it?? Many years ago I thought we would be safe from this scenario, but the more water that flows under the bridge so to speak, I'm just not quite so sure anymore! Good job my friend, new sub here!

I just finished installing these EXACT tires on my sons 125cc ATV. I feel your pain! They were TOUGH to get on. Super thick, hard rubber which isn’t very pliable. I used a flat head screwdriver and a combination of vice grips, and open end wrenches to pry them into place and after many hours, I got it done. I hope I never have to change them again!
@countryhandyman10644 жыл бұрын
Yes they are hard to get on. I forgot all about the vice grip trick while doing it. It would have made it easier.
@lazytrucker67914 жыл бұрын
Helpful tip. Use a pair of vise grips to hold the tire in place so it doesn’t slip on the rim.
@slipsonic8095 жыл бұрын
Good job man. ATV tires are way harder than car tires. If you can do these you can change your own car tires easy. I've done a lot of car tires but I couldn't get the bead to break on the ATV tires so I ended up taking them to the tire shop to take the tires off. Luckily the back tires are split rim so it will be easier.

Yeah the truck did a pretty good job at getting the quad tires off, it took way, way more force then I though. Thanks for watching.

How do you balance your own car tires?
@countryhandyman10644 жыл бұрын
I dont personally do my own car tire but there are some simple machines that have a level on it and you add weight in spots till its balances.

How come there isn’t a million comments complaining about how unsafe we were when we did this? Especially me tipping the tire over with my foot while it’s on fire. Not super safe but it got the job done lol.

Yes, it was very unsafe. There probably could have been a better way.

You did good man. Love the keyboard haters who just pay to have this done being critical but I make a decent living and I’d do the same thing to save some money. It’s live and learn in this project, I fought a few rim/tire combos myself but in the end I’ve saved over 200 bucks doing it myself too. Great video showing the struggle brother. I enjoyed it.

I dismounted an remounted all for tires myself. Using just about every at home technique there is on KZbin. Tried the board ? Didnt work. Car jack was my best option. Had to modify to make it work for me. But I got it. Wasn't about to spend $20 to get tires done. Was collecting unemployment at the time. Lol. Shop wasn't an option.

I did exactly the same. Piece of six by two approximately with a sharp corner and angle it slightly towards the centre of the wheel. Sometimes have to have several attempts going round the rim but worked well for me.

Just a lil thing I noticed doing mine and watching a bunch of other videos, if they're that hard to get off and on, flip the rim over, once u flip it it seems to be much easier.
@countryhandyman10645 жыл бұрын
I wondered if maybe I need to flip the rim. I might have even tried. Those tires I got where super thick and harder to work with. They could have also been a problem.

You just need to take small bites as you are put the tires back on the rim
@michaelosullivan82884 жыл бұрын
What size tires you using and next time just put lil bit dishwasher liquid then be all sweet to slide tires out with no problem and lucky you didn't bend your rims while to drive your car up to get tires off and its so tricky you'd made some tyre to slide sidewall off its quickest way and then it's saves you do a hard way as there are so many people wouldn't do hard.way.sorry about but I like your video but what happens if you made a mistake running rim over it's sketchy idea
@countryhandyman10644 жыл бұрын
Yes it was sketchy I knew I was risky my rims but If you get a long enough board then you have more stop time but if it is to long to board snaps so it tricky. I can’t remember where I saw that idea but I liked it. I now have more tools and can hopefully just build a bead breaker soon.
@harveynailbanger Жыл бұрын
The starting fluid is unnecessary. Just use the strap , pull the valve core and inflate... if you are going to use the ether spray inside the tire for about 2 seconds.
