My theory is that the ruler is the player character when they were a child. This is a place you can reach by dreaming and my guess is they dreamed themselves here for a time, and as they grew up they forgot about it and that's what led to the whole forgetting thing. That's why they haven't been seen in years and that's why their stuff responds to the player and why they're the chosen one; they've been here before.

I had a little play of this earlier and found it quite weird that Mickey was attempting to be his usual cheerful (ho hoo) self while barely hiding his depression and loneliness because Minnie has been sucked into the 'upside down' and he channels Winona Ryder even more when he starts seeing glimpses of her ghostly apparition wandering in and out of existence in the Disney garden. Then he starts making you have picnics with him because 'that's what she used to like to do'...

The "snitches get stitches" line in Mickey's voice sent me into a coughing fit. I love watching you guys play this, but I'm reminded just how much I hate Goofy's voice. That and perhaps I'm just being an old grouch, but the overabundance of cheeriness (that comes across as fake to me) reminds me why I tend to prefer Disney villains more than the "good" guys.

@@mar_speedman Yeah, he's not bad. There are very few of the main Disney characters (thinking the ones like Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, Donald, etc) that I actually like. I've always liked the Disney movies that don't get as much attention as the big ones. The Rescuers, Rescuers Down Under, Great Mouse Detective, Robin Hood, and Fantasia are some of the main ones. I like Mary Poppins, and Bedknobs and Broomsticks a lot. Pretty much any of the non-princess ones. I was more of a Don Bluth kid, and also pre-Disney Pixar movies (Bug's Life, first Toy Story, etc), and also Looney Tunes. Wile. E. Coyote has always been my favorite of them; hate that stupid Road Runner. Thinking on it and I think the most recent Disney Princess movie I've seen is Tangled, and I'm shocked that it's already 12 years old. Has Disney really been using that same big-eyed, round face style on all their female characters since then? Wow, and that's not a compliment for them.

Anyway, do you know the show Duck Dodgers? It's a show about Daffy Duck's adventures in the future that I rediscovered recently. It's hilarious. I miss that version of Daffy. I recommend everyone watching, since we're talking about cartoon characters.

I don't think I'm enough of a Disney enthusiast to request more of this. It seems like an awful lot of grinding and not a whole lot of "actual game". *Maybe* if it played like some Westworld where you could "roleplay" in "Frozen World" or "Mulan World" - but that can't ever happen for obvious reasons. I don't think I'd watch a stream of this game on any other channel - and not because of the game, but because you guys can make just about anything worth a watch.

Can someone help answer something for me? When I tried to do research online to see if Dreamlight Valley would be a micro-transaction hell, it says it is free to play and everyone expects it to become one. But it costs a minimum of $30 on switch, so I am not sure where this free to play bit is. Also just because it costs money, doesn't mean it won't also become a micro-transaction hell so does anyone know if it does have that problem?

It's in early-release now, so if you want to play it now, you have to pay. But it WILL be free next year. There's no sign of micro-transactions yet, but it's Disney, so I wouldn't be shocked if that eventually happened.
