As we face water restrictions again, just what we need is more homes in a development that plans on lagoons and water features. Our humidity levels are rising every year due to irrational and pools. They have also proposed a surf park in LaQuinta that will need 17 million gallons of water just to fill it. It’s criminal what they are doing to our paradise all for the $$$

Take a deeper dive into Crystal Lagoon technology. It's extremely advanced and far more efficient than pools. Also consider that the vast vast majority of water in California still goes to farmland. Residential developments are not the problem.

The well-known statue of Walt holding Mickey's hand at every Disney park around the world does have the STR logo on Walt's necktie. However the artist took a bit of creative license... If you track down early video of Walt, he was almost always wearing a Western String Tie. The fabric necktie used by the artist looks better and was easier to replicate on the statues. Most of the year it's around 75-80 degrees here and it's sunny and beautiful almost every day of the year. I grew up here so I love the summer an the heat. Everyone has AC and you can jump in the pool to cool off throughout the day. And you do your errands in the morning or after the sun goes down when it's not bad. It's a very dry heat (rarely any humidity so it doesn't feel that hot) and it feels great, especially when there's a nice breeze, which is most of the time. Living in the midwest or east coast with all the humidity and bugs would be a nightmare for me. I guess we all get used to where we live.

The technicolor house was put up for sale in 2020 so it obviously has new owners now. Also, Celebration in Florida, which was originally Walt's planned community, is, in my opinion, a big sterile bore. I am an animation artist and have worked for many years for the Mouse and other studios, so I definitely enjoy all things Walt but the company doesn't produce magic in all the sectors it ventures into. That is defiantly a huge plot of land and from a birds eye view on Googlemaps there aren't too many left in that area! All being gobbled up and developed.

So true, BEW, the desert is being fully developed. Soon we won't be able to see much sand here. :-( Hopefully practice makes perfect and this development will be a success. Sounds like you are a very talented guy with a fun job!

@@steveinpalmspringsca Talented girl LOL! How hot has it been there? I'm usually out in PS every few months, maybe I'll brave the heat and come out again. Maybe walk El Paseo in the evening, haven't explored that yet.

I wonder if Disney was going to put an amusement park in Palm Springs when he bought that 600 acres
@steveinpalmspringsca2 жыл бұрын
I assumed the company just recently bought it, but who knows.

640 acres is a section which is a square mile.

We have hundreds of earthquakes in Southern California every day, but most are so small you don't feel them. We feel the larger ones about once every few months. I've lived here all my life so I've felt all of the big ones. Hopefully the REALLY BIG ONE won't happen until after I'm long gone. :-O

Is the community in the area happy to see something being built there? Cool video by the way and thanks for mentioning my favourite - Barry Manilow 😊

No! We don't want or need it. Waste of our water and of no benefit to the local community, only catering to the snowbirds who only stay here part of the year.

Sad to hear that Karin. That's what I love about Palm Springs and California in general. It's very accepting and embraces everyone and is much more loving and kind than many other places in the country and world.

I don't know if you've heard but the Disney stock has lost millions and millions of dollars. I wouldn't think they would even start developing. I'm sure they're going to hold off because I don't think they can really afford it. And find out how many people have actually invested. I bet zero

@@steveinpalmspringsca you haven't seen the huge boycott on Disney in California and in Florida. They're losing millions and millions of dollars. People won't even go to Disneyland. It really made world news. Maybe sometime if you have time you'll see why that it's going to be at least a decade or two before they ever come out of this.
