Disney Cars Petersen Automotive Museum Motor Speedway of the South Piston Cup Display w/ Apple iCar

On November 12, 2011, the Petersen Automotive Museum opened a new exhibit titled "From Silver Screen to Die-cast: Disney Pixar Cars Imagined by Mattel." Many recognize the exhibit for the plethora of cancelled prototypes that were shown, ranging from Piston Cup haulers and team sets to obscure characters, such Trev, Syd VanDerKamper and Vroomaroundus Bugus. However, the exhibit featured a lot more than just cancelled prototypes; its centerpiece was a Motor Speedway of the South set with the elusive Apple iCar #84. I'm so excited for you to show this! I always wanted to see this museum. Recently, Piston Cup Productions went to Petersen over Thanksgiving break and showed all the cool cars including our favorite legend . And Knight Rider Historians released a new video just a little over a week ago about how they supplied Petersen with one of their screen used KITT cars for display and how the bumper was replaced with a non-screen used one. Long story short, all my favorite KZbinrs are going/talking about Petersen and I want to go here so bad! I don't think KITT is there any more because KRH wanted it back or something but as long as Lightning's there! I'm there too! This was really fun and I'm glad you shared! Did you get this display for this Christmas or in years past?

0:46 I remember I watched a video from BluCollection a couple of years ago when I was a kid and I saw these canceled haulers on display such as the Tank Coat hauler, Easy Idle hauler, View Zeen hauler, Retread Hauler, Fiber Fuel hauler, and the Vitoline hauler! It’s sad to see these haulers canceled because they look so amazing when next to their Piston Cup racer and pit crew members. I also remember BluCollection showcasing the Motor Speedway of the South set in this same place with the Mac iCar taken out from its box.

It’s crazy to know a display for the Peterson Automotive Museum can be bought by outsiders which also includes your parents. If you are not satisfied with the current display you have, you should put the Next-Gen Racers 4-Pack or more elusive Multi-Packs.

Thank you! No, for the most part it only affects the Motor Speedway of the South die-casts because they used a special paint on them. To avoid it, you want to keep them out of direct sunlight and limit air exposure, especially humidity.

As video progressed, noticed so many cool things :) The Disney Store Exclusive McQueen 30 - do you have it with letter to the employee? Sage Vanderspin named correctly on Blue Desert Pack - custom name plate or original? The transparent protective cases - where it possible to get them?

I don't think I have the letter that came with the Cast Member exclusive McQueen. Like I said, the Sage VanDerSpin is the extremely rare correct package variant; it was not customized at all. The place I purchased the protective cases from closed I believe, but you can try to find others by searching for them online.

I even felt bad for this racer, it was the rarest one (at some point / except iCar) and suddenly re-released in 2020 under Rex Revler name. Being also similar in design, he was very under-rated....saw multiple of them in retail places.

Great video and great display. Similar, I wouldn't care, where from exactly display came from - the Peterson Museum, or Mattel HQ or Walmart Toy section, most important - it perfectly resembles original box and racers setup. One of the day I will plan to build something similar or to order....anyway, congrats on excellent purchase / gift.
