Chapman (Johnny) chose not to marry, as he believed that he would find his soulmate in Heaven if she did not appear to him on Earth. The apples he planted in nurseries, not just random, were from seed, not grafting, so the apples weren't edible, but what they were good for, was making Hard Apple Cider. Really, what Johnny Appleseed was doing and the reason he was welcome in every home back then was he was bringing the gift of alcohol to the frontier. He was our American Dionysus! LOL

The Appleseed segment is pretty accurate in terms of John Chapman’s character. He really was pious, kind to animals, and There’s one story about him where he put out his campfire after seeing mosquitoes fly into it, because he didn’t even want bugs to die for his comfort. In another he purchased a horse that was about to be euthanized and nursed it back to health.
@foxotcw303 күн бұрын
I was at Oberlin (Ohio, founded 1830s) when I got interested in John Chapman, and it was easy to find old, yellowed primary sources on him pretty much laying out on the stacks. So many early settlers remembered this weird, kindly guy and mentioned him in the early regional histories. Everyone, including the Indians, seems to have regarded him fondly. It's really a wonderful story of a uniquely American eccentric hero.

It's really sad Disney doesn't have this level of kindness and goodness in anything they make nowadays.... everything they come out with now is woke, leftist
@RottenEggplant2 күн бұрын
That’s a good thing, you know. Being woke and left is not the bullshit the right propagandize. It means judge not your neighbors by the color of their skin or the person that they love, but the honor of their character, something everyone should believe in. That’s what being woke means. Some people just take it too far, but for that, don’t judge us normal folk based on those attention seekers. This video is as woke as anything else Disney produces, simply because it’s not full of racism and bigotry.
