I’ve stayed in inside, ocean view and verandah. Price and length of cruise matters. I love the verandah and choose it first. With that said the inside cabins are not bad at all. I was actually surprised on how much I enjoyed it. I didn’t feel closed in.

We love staying in verandah staterooms! We love to order some room service snacks (usually coffee and something light to eat) and sit out in the afternoon and look at the water. Most of the time there is only a couple of hundred dollars difference between having a verandah and not having one. We find it totally worth the extra.

Veranda rooms can get very expensive on longer cruises. When we go on the Panama Canal, Hawaiian, Iceland, or 11 Night British Islands we look Deck 2 rooms. When on Northern Europe or Alaska it’s cold out and we don’t use it. We love having a veranda but the do get expensive. If your trying to save money look at Deck 2 rooms. After a few cruises you may have saved enough to go on another cruise. Disney cruises are the best

We've never cruised on Disney (yet - it's in the works after COVID), but we've been on 4 cruises on other lines and we've always done the balcony. My mom's favourite thing is to get up and watch the ship dock if we're in port! So we actually always find out which side of the ship they usually dock on and get a room on that side so she can watch.
@DisneyCruisers3 жыл бұрын
Yes! I base my room on port docking as well! Thank you for watching!
@rebeccacronan6 жыл бұрын
Hey, love watching all your cruising tips! You compared verandah to inside rooms, what about ocean view? How do you feel about spending less for ocean view vs verandah?
@DisneyCruisers6 жыл бұрын
Thank you :) The ocean views are lovely as well! Better than the inside room because you still have the natural light and view of the water. They are also larger than inside rooms. If it is only a couple hundred between the two, that is your call on whether or not you want to spend that money on getting a private deck or on other things like bingo or alcohol. If the price difference is a little bit when going from inside to ocean view I would DEF do it! I would put the ocean view rooms in the same category as a verandah. Now the ocean view rooms are located in a different area... usually lower decks and on the ends of the ship. Sometimes that makes people's decision for them, whether that is based on movement of the ship or location to activities.
@magicaldays70994 жыл бұрын

Thinking about my next cruise, having just gotten off my first Disney Cruise (and first cruise ever) last week. I think it wasn’t needed on my 3 night in December. The weather cool for part of the trip. However for a longer cruise (especially in warmer weather), I think we would enjoy the fresh air. However we were happy with our oceanview room. The kids loved sitting in the porthole and watching the sea. I would do porthole again for a 3 night cruise for sure. The portholes are huge and let in a ton of light. For a 4 night, I would do it if I had extra money because of the sea day. For a 5 night or longer, I think it’s important.

- Stayed in stateroom 10658 on Oct. 2019. Yes, the veranda is huge, but being located over the stern where the props are, so you can expect horrendous vibrations when they crank up the speed over 12 knots. And forget about, when they kick in the side thrusters. It was like an earthquake. The room was also a bit "worn out". Rugs were dirty, light switches have seen better days. Bring a flashlight if you want to retrieve anything from the close closets. Back to the veranda, hope you like Disney Muzak, cuz that's what you'll hear all day from Cabanas, that's right above the room.

The question I have is, dont people normally spend more time outside of the room? At least thats what I was told. With that said, is it still worth it?
@DisneyCruisers6 жыл бұрын
Yes you do spend a lot of time not in the room. But the time you have in the room does add up. Some people spend more time than others. Those with children are in there for nap time and if your kids go to bed early, hanging out on the balcony is very nice. I even know some people who just enjoy disney on demand and room service, so they stay in their rooms lot. But yes, there are those who are only there to shower and sleep.

How about ocean view staterooms? Is the middle option worth it?
@DisneyCruisers5 жыл бұрын
The oceanview rooms are a great option! The ONLY negative I have about them is that they are either in a lower deck or on the ends of the ship. I like to be on a higher deck and more mid, but that’s just my personal preference 😃 Also, I find that generally it is not that big of a jump price wise to go from oceanview to verandah do I always try to get the verandah. If it were a big price jump I would def consider the ocean view 👍🏻

Better than inside rooms. Not as great as verandah -- but still WAY better than inside staterooms. If it was a considerable savings, I would do oceanview :)

I love the Veranda rooms as a family we love sitting on the veranda in the morning to watch us dock or just watch the sun come up or go down,and we love sitting there at night before bed. I would feel claustrophobic in an inside state room and I know my dad would too as he usually always goes on each cruise. I have just purchased binoculars for our next cruise (May 27, 2019). To look at the other ships and land while out on the Veranda. It lets in natural light which a human needs to wake and go to sleep. Now if I had to take an inside stateroom because I didn’t have the extra cash yeah I would I mean I would rather go on a cruise than not go.
@dcldan25216 жыл бұрын
Very good. You should note that there are differences between the Magic/Wonder and Dream/Fantasy. On the Dream class ships you are correct that only 13% of staterooms are inside stateroom but on the Magic class ships inside staterooms are over 30% of room therefore there can be significant price differences between verandah vs inside rooms on the classic ships. Also for cruises that go to scenic destinations (ex Alaska) it is so worth the cost of a verandah but there is a significant price difference as well.

Ashley, would you know if get a discount for the 3rd and 4th person when booking two rooms for a family of four? I read that there is a discount if the family members are all in the same room, but just wondering if there is a discount for two rooms.
@DisneyCruisers5 жыл бұрын
Because Disney books/prices their rooms for double occupancy, the first and second person cost the same. That is why it is always good to find a friend to sail with if you are going alone because that room costs the same whether it is one of two people. The 3 and 4 person are discounted, so you will be paying more if you book two rooms. Sometimes it’s only a difference of a couple hundred dollars, but other times it can be much more than that😬

I just got home from my first cruise- 7 nights on the Disney Magic cruising from Quebec to New York City! We had a verandah room that was so nice! But I did wonder if paying more for the verandah on that specific itinerary was the right choice. It was chilly so we didn't spend much time out there. I'm not complaining (oh, except for the uncomfortable bed with a peak in the middle slanting down to either side my husband and I both felt like we'd roll off if we layed the wrong way! Is that common?) I'm not complaining, just offering another thought about verandahs if the itinerary is a cold one. 😁

Yes great point! Consider the weather! Excellent tip. We once rented DVC points to get a savanna room at Animal Kingdom lodge and it was in January. We wanted to use the balcony to see the animals so badly, but it was FREEZING! I have not heard of a bed problem before. In fact, I know there are threads online where people inquire about how to purchase those beds because they love them so much. Also, with the Magic just out of dry dock, you think that would not have been an issue. I am going to call it a fluke and I bet your next stateroom bed will be super comfy. Did you write that on your comment card?
