I am officially in contact with a lawyer in West Palm Beach, and he thinks we have grounds to sue under a class action lawsuit. He is looking into it at this point, and wit my survey I found 73% of respondents have been denied which is illegal under Section III of the ADA under Prohibitions. That said, I was denied THREE TIMES, and they refused to give me the reason why. I was asked to speak with a NP and then a neuropsychologist and they asked the same question over and over again.

You definitely have a shot at wining from my findings all week long the people that are actually disabled and that would need to be on the lightning line are stuck in the regular standby lines while those who pay are on the lightning line. there’s little to no improvements of the regular lines so we have wheelchairs getting stuck everywhere they also say you can leave the line and have a return to line anytime you want, but there’s never a cast member to assist you once you’re stuck in the middle of a line.

All Disney has to do under the ADA is make accommodations for disabled individuals. They have done that. No guest is entitled to DAS or anything else specific.

@@ctrawick3 they aren't offering any accomodations now. I point blank asked the CM I spoke with if these "accomodations" are offered to the general public, and she actually said anyone can use them, which means they aren't accomodations. The ADA specifically prohibits companies from screening out people with disabilities, and favoring one disability group. Disney has violated the ADA

Yeah, I know it's a bit frustrating that some who could get DAS before can't now. But, remember, the ones to blame are not Disney, but rather it's those who abused the system by choosing to get DAS without even needing it

@@il100374No, it's not Disney's fault. You're not being realistic here. And you're right, Universal's system works better. That's why Disney needs to do the same, and turn to the IBCCES card program, only then will they crackdown on abusers, and it would save a lot of time
@il100374

@jackwilkinson4911 That's how you know it's not about morality or abuse. If that were the case Disney would have already followed suit and listed their parks as part of the IBCCES Registry (or another legal medically licensed 3rd party system). Instead 😀 they butchered the DAS system and decided the best course of action was to disprove the majority of people applying for DAS so they could (literally) recommend these families purchase Genie+ as an alternative 😂. Mere days after announcing the new DAS restrictions they unveiled their new Lightning Lane packages. Coincidence though right? They're just trying to maximize profit. People should be on these Zoom calls talking to a fucking doctor. Not some disgruntled 20 year old cast member that spent the last 7 hours telling disabled people they don't qualify for the DAS pass.

Mmmmm so it is Disney’s fault. Accommodations that give disabled people equal access are a right not a privilege. It’s not only unethical to punish disabled people for the actions of those cheating the system, but it’s also federally illegal. I deserve the same access as my able bodied counterparts. Its the law. Adding to that, if you saw me in public on my best days, you might think I am one of the people cheating the system. I’m in my mid-20s, I appear healthy, and when my condition is managed at it’s best I can walk for short periods of time. But I am still very much disabled. I live with a rare disease that affects every system in my body. Not everyone who “looks normal” is cheating the system.

But if those don't work out for you and DAS is your only option, then make sure you provide them with enough information, you might also want to tell them what happened the last you waited in a conventional queue, and make sure it was somewhere outside of theme parks

WHICH is why Disney should do what Universal does and require PROOF by having people register for the IBCCES Registry, where you upload your medical documentation/doctor's notes and then real medically licensed professionals will review and verify the info, and tell Universal etc that you are good to go. Disney doesn't want to do this because they don't want to pay a 3rd party company to verify these things. They'd rather have 17 year old cast members read off a transcript or play doctor. They narrowed the umbrella that was the old DAS which means plentyyyy more people now have to pay for the Lightning Lane packages. Funny look, mere days after butchering DAS they actually announced their new Lightning Lane Program 😂 as if it wasn't obvious enough.

@@ThePrincessandtheDadAutism is not imaginary, obviously you have no idea what you're talking about and your comment is very ignorant. Autistic people have a disorder that causes their sensory perception to work differently than other people and they see and hear things and react to things differently than people who are not autistic. Oftentimes it is overwhelming especially when they have not learned yet how to cope with it. Imagine having extremely bright lights on you and 50 conversion on around you so loudly that you can't hear yourself think...that could be a normal grocery store to an autistic child. I can usually spot even I mildly autistic person a mile away as it does have physical tells as well. It's more and more common as time goes on and something is causing the increase but don't know what yet. But ignorant people like you are not helping the situation.

Proof cannot be required by law. Additionally, DAS isn’t bypassing lines. It’s waiting the same amount of time outside of the line. I look “normal” and don’t regularly carry “proof” but I have a very rare genetic disorder that has absolutely disabled me, even on the days that I am walking without a mobility aid or visible “proof” of my disability. What you’re insinuating is a slippery slope

On the website for DAS this is who qualifies for the Das Pass. I think Disney needs to rename it to something else to help with the confusion "DAS is intended to accommodate only those Guests who, due to a developmental disability like autism or similar disorder, are unable to wait in a conventional queue for an extended period of time."

My daughter has Tourette’s and gets tremendous anxiety in crowds. She will not qualify for DAS anymore. We did not renew her Annual Pass. It’s not worth it. I wish they would just take a Doctors note indicating the diagnosis. And before you say they cannot ask it’s not exactly true. You have to have proof of a true disability to get a handicapped plate in Florida, and any other state. These changes came about when they found a way to charge for front of the line access. It’s all about money plain and simple.

I am physically disabled and I finally got to go to Los Angeles after 10 years for the weekend so I decided between the two parks (Disneyland and Universal) and went with Universal because of Harry Potter. Now they have a similar system to DAS and after what I went through with the stupid red tape plus paying $145 for a regular ticket and $76 for a scooter chair, I swore never to use either park again. They don't want to deal with physically handicapped people to start with, but they want our money and they can be sued for discrimination. So make a handicapped person miserable enough to spend more money on a fast pass or not to come. Gone is the day of Walt Disney who wanted families to be able to go and enjoy a safe and clean amusement park. Now it is over crowded, everything from food to tickets are ridiculous and fights break out all the time. I told my friends I am done. No more Disney and Universal for me.

My doctors requested for me to get DAS pass for my upcoming trip. Disneyland approved my request. Will note I went ahead with purchasing multipass for all attendees. They did tell us to let the cast members know at each ride. I visually look normal just with a pretty intense scar on the back of my head due to a tbi suffered 3 years ago. Really don't wish to use it as an advantage. Just don't wish to end up with a trip to the hospital during my trip which is supposed to be fun.

Disney already complies to the ADA requirements with the DAS being an extra Disney element that is offered. Disney is taking back control of people who have taken advantage of the DAS pass for many years. People will have to adjust how they "do" Disney and vacation. We are a family who has used the pass. I do not agree with your stance on using the key phrases on how to get approved as an adult. Do you have evidence to back up that statement?

If you are going to speak on anxiety you should know that some people with anxiety subconsciously think about how long a wait is (time posted) and it triggers their symptoms. It’s like people claiming a gun is the bad guy when the person firing the gun at innocent people is the problem.

I know you can only apply for DAS if you have valid tickets already. I can also tell you during the interview if initial CM denies you can ask to speak to the medical professional and if still no luck you can speak to the coordinator. You are going to need to be ready to tell them why there 3 recommendations wont work. 1st ride swap, 2nd exit the line and come back 3rd speaking to each line CM. IMO it all depends who you get for the interview and if you are denied you can always call back and reapply. You can also speak to them at the park and tell them I heard the are a lot more approving at the park. If all else fails you can sign up for their genie + service. I wish you the best and hope this helps.

@@FamilyTimeVlogsFTV I thought you cannot apply at the park any longer in Orlando? If you do they connect you on a smart pad and speak to someone virtual which is the same exact process if you sit at home and do it on your laptop. You're going to waste time if you show up at the gate and try and do it. Oh and yes they keep all of your info in the system so you can call back as many times as you want. The CM can read your history of what was decided previously to calling. It's really just wasting more time.

With the increase of large brawls and smaller fights happening in the parks...as well as the animosity this has instilled among park goers towards those with disabilities...it's only a matter of time before a fight breaks out between someone in the line and someone with a disability re-entering the line.

Just stay home don’t be around people. That is not the solution. Some people need accommodations to help being apart of society more easeful. But being separated from the world is not the answer. That’s where depression deepens. Please be sensitive and use your manners. Unnecessary and uncalled for statement to make to not include people because they have a “problem” with their health.
