Hey Mr Star, me and a friend did some pretty extensive testing today, and I think you'll be interested in what we found so far: 1. As far as spawn rates go, we seem to be on the same page, as both me and my friend found an average of around 10-12 an hour. 2. That being said, the start of the session always seems to have slower spawns for some reason. It might just be because it takes a while for the valley to initially "populate" with shards. Players might want to host for around 15-30 mins, before actually starting to hunt for shards imo. 3. Some of our shards got stuck in inaccessible places (due to decor and/or the rock rug bug), where we were unable to pick them up. Over time, as we found more and more of these "stuck" shards, it seemed like less new ones were spawning. By the end of ~2 hours, we were running around for like 15 mins without finding anything - Until, my friend disconnected. His individual "stuck" shards must have de-spawned, since after he came back, he could no longer see them and the drops seemed to resume - interestingly, they resumed for BOTH of us. 4. This all indicates to me that there is indeed a "cap" for how many shards can be present at one time, and that cap is actually SHARED with the host, even though the spawns are (mostly) individual. What this means, is that after a certain point (as I've said, around ~30 mins or so of gameplay), if you don't pick them up, new ones won't spawn. I assume (and hope) that the cap itself is dependent on the number of visitors, meaning the more you have the larger the cap - But we were only 2 people, so I didn't get to test that part yet. Anyway, we tried to figure the cap out by using the "stuck" shards to count how many shards each of us were seeing, whenever the spawns seemingly stopped. it seems from our testing, like the cap is around 10-15 total for both players. I personally this is too low, since as I've said, sometimes new shards get stuck or spawn in hard-to-find places, which can make the entire collecting process even slower. 5. I think a "cap" system, might also explain the situation you've described of finding 3 new shards at once, and the overall fluctuations you've noticed with spawn rates. They might not actually be what's causing the overall bottleneck, but the cap is. So for example, say you were hanging out with 2 other people; Your overall cap was pretty full, and then they both found a piece around the same time - Making it seem to you, like 3 shards just randomly spawned at the same time, while other times, if none of you can find a shard for a while (or if they're all stuck), it seems like new spawns are few and far between. 6. Another thing that's worth noting, is that once my friend did disconnect and come back - He could weirdly see my spawns. Meaning, he started out already able to see all the stuck shards I've been leaving all over the place. Then, a new shard spawned for me, which he couldn't see (how it normally works), so for testing, we had him disconnect again. When he came back, not only could he see the same shard, but he could pick it up and that shard then disappeared for me. So, all this to say that it seems like at the start of a session/when a new person joins, they DO share spawns with the host, up to a certain point (either in time, or maybe once you approach the "cap" mentioned above; we couldn't tell for sure). Also, I'm assuming you've already figured this out, but the reason the "duplicate" sacks only seemed like they were working for the newer items - Is because you weren't missing any ingredients for the older blueprints. Basically, it replaces whatever you're missing (1 for 1 in terms of quantities), and if you're not missing anything, you can't elect to use it unfortunately. I agree with you that the items we can currently craft with the shards, aren't worth the grind they take to collect. I think they should increase spawn rates/cap, so that it's easier to find the shards, AND adjust the price of crafting with them so that they cost way less. I'd maybe consider crafting and using these if they'd have cost say, 1-3 shard instead of 10 lol.

Awesome video! I agree, I can't really see any times when I would use any of these myself. I had plenty of pixel shards to craft each one, and I'll keep them on hand for "just in case", but I agree.... I think they make better decorative items than anything. I don't see myself doing this very often! I only plan to do multi-player to check out other scrooge stores at this point! Maybe that will change depending on future updates.

I think the biggest incentive to get the expansion is to get the items for Dreamsnaps! I know the first thing I tried was to see if I could bring flowers from eternity isle to the valley! The glass flowers are so pretty!

The cooking one is ABSOLUTELY worth it! At least when in regards for all the banana splits for the monkey's favorite food feeding as well as all the berry salads and pumpkin puffs to eat for energy and sell for coin. Other than those flames you showed, totally stealing for future Dreamsnaps, that cooking pixel thingy is what I will use up the most hands down

@angrymuppet4209 I haven't experimented with other 5 star meals but when doing a quest with EVE, it is stated to give them a 3 star meal that is a banana based dessert. So *shrugs* idk

@@howlingechoes1012 I've done a couple more tests and I think it's definitely the Banana Splits! What annoys me is that even the critters you've already fed will act like they're playing.! I keep chasing down monkeys and then seeing that damn green checkmark!!

For $100.00 the multiplayer is extremely underwhelming for me. I hope in the future they do something like being able to do a quest or a game together. It is ridiculous that when my friend comes to my area I can not do the ordinary things I can do when they are not there.

At the moment Wrought Iron is only given by reme so the multi shards ate very useful, I'm trying to make the wrought iron fencing. But never enough wrought iron.

I wouldn’t care if nothing changes with the pixels cus you do t need to grind for them or do anything.. it’s was just like a “her and its cool it can do this if you want to” type thing. Multiplayer was really just about have friends over to show off your valley and buying from u store and that’s it.. pixels was like an add on. And ALOT of games that have multiplayer have just that… they don’t give anything extra for doing multiplayer. I’m just saying it’s a cool extra thing is all and not the main point

The reward really doesn’t match the effort you need to do multiplayer I’ll probably do it a couple of times just to unlock the pixelated items but otherwise it doesn’t have much replay value.

Looks awesome, but I'm so awkwardly social and have no friends, I wish they had an open multiplayer were we can visit random people, and before anyone suggests going to the Discord and making, I'm already part of it, buy haven't had any luck 🤷‍♀️ so hopefully some how I will be able to get the pixel shards, I don't want to miss out on this

Yep! I think they just changed the time that the store resets. Before it was at 1am for me… so I assumed it was the same time last night, but nope! It refreshed at 12 for me and I didn’t realize it till 12:10am ,_,

Since none of my friends play Disney Dreamlight Valley plus I'm on Playstation it's very hard to get them. I opened my valley for strangers I've met on Discord but it's so weird to me because you can't do anything in Multiplayer. Everyone is running around and then leave.

I visited someone yesterday and we could both see them, there was only one but we both saw the same shard

I went to about 10 valleys and had about 10 over to mine and everyone saw their own shards. I also saw shards they couldn’t see. We tested it out, never saw the same.

I just wrote a very long comment about this if you're interested in reading how I reached this conclusion lol.. But basically, as far as I understand it, when joining a session there's a period of time where shard spawns are shared between the host and visiting player; until it reaches a certain cap, and then you each start seeing individual spawns. I'm not sure why exactly they designed it this way, but since it seems to be fairly consistent, I'm gonna assume it's intentional and not a bug.

Not worth it.. you do nothing while they play.. wish they made it you find double the amount in multiplayer but you can still find them on your own and they time locked it.. 1 every hour or something

I only looked for shards at my friends for a few minutes but I found one in the forgotten lands. She's on an Xbox one and I'm on an Xbox X and she couldn't enter my valley because of the object limit.😮 She kept crashing on entry.😢

I tried to place it in eternity isle and it would not let me. I don’t see myself doing this unless there’s a dreamsnap requiring it. Also, once you place it you can’t remove it. You can move it around, but you can’t remove the portal.

My tropical wood spawn rate is terrible. I haven't been able to move forward in quests because I only started with 6, today I found 4, I still have 2 more to go. If I could use those glitch shards I would!

So the shards spawn at rate of about 5 every 30 minutes!? That's great, but who wants to do nothing for 39 minutes while their friends run around??? It would be nice if you could play a mini game or something while they search. I mean, you can't even help them! 😞

Actually, as the host, you can also run around and search for shards in your own valley while hosting (: I agree it's still not the most fun to just run around searching for hours, but at least you don't literally have to stand there and watch them search lol
