I’ve been saving money for awhile to take my kids on the Disney Cruise. I figured we’d be able to book it in a couple years. Well, i work at a grocery store with a loyalty card system. As a thank you for working through the pandemic, they just loaded $1000 onto our loyalty cards ( I actually got $2000 because my husband works there too. ) They also sell gift cards so I tried it and was able to use the money they put on our loyalty card to purchase $2000 in Disney gift cards. I just used the cards to booked our dream vacation for May. I’m very excited!!! Thank you for the information!!!

Don't forget about the Kroger 4x fuel points on entertainment gift cards! I just booked my cruise and I'm saving roughly 10% off my cruise in fuel. For example, I bought a $200 Disney gift card, which saved me 80¢ off per gallon of gas, up to 35 gallons. I filled my truck up (24 gallons), which saved me just under $20 off that $200 gift card.

I love that you repeat yourself and cover every possible scenario. A true teacher never assumes common sense and if keeping your gift cards wasn’t clear enough the first five times it was said, here’s another. I do academic advising for college students and no matter how many times I say something, I always get questions about things I think are pretty clear and simple. Keep up the good work!

I just almost finished paying my entire cruise with gift cards I bought at targets using my red card to get the 5% off. It saved a decent amount of money. Now I wish I hadn’t thrown them away, but thank you for this tip! Now I know

Yeah I learned a hard way but not the hardest... I used 26 cards and then they were like.. $800 will go back on some of those cards and in different amounts ... so I had to individually check all of them 🤦‍♀️

From what I have heard some people have been able to. I think it depends on the cast member. The last one I had was all about making me go to guest services lol. I was hoping he would be more flexible since my kids were there staring at him.. but I guess he was in a mood lol

Thanks for the information. The only time that I use gift cards is when I go to Disney World. I didn't know that you can pay for your cruise with them. I learned something new today. Thanks for sharing.

They're discounted, 5% I believe. Sam's club has like a 3% discount, target red card has a 5% discount, and Kroger has their 4x fuel rewards program.

Hmm interesting! On the Magic last month my hubby tried to pay with a gift card in the gift shop (he was buying a gift for me and didn’t want me to see it on the account) .. but he was told he couldn’t use it and he then had to go to guest services to hide the charge so I wouldn’t see it. Maybe they can physically take them in there just most cast members choose not to? Not sure. I have tried on several cruises and have always been told no. I wish they would though. I’ll see if anyone else comments the same. Thanks 😃

I was on the wonder not even a month ago and they had me scan my key to the world card then I could use my gift card afterwards to pay

We just got off The Wonder January 9th and my kids were able to use in the onboard gift shops the Disney gift cards we gave them before the cruise. I think I had to scan my KTTW card first though. Maybe because they were kids they allowed it?? Love your videos, Ashley!

Yes, those will be applied to your on board account and you can just pay your account off with gift cards. Also, you could call up DCL and have your gift cards placed on your account before you set sail :)

FYI: If you have a Target Red Card, you will save 5% when buying a Disney gift card! So, if you ended up using all gift cards to pay for your cruise, you'd save 5% off your cruise price! (So, if you paid $3,000 for a cruise using gift cards, you'd save $150!) If you *don't* have a Target Red Card, but want to get one, get the DEBIT version, *NOT* the credit card version. The debit card has no fees and comes straight from your bank; the credit card version had a 24.99% interest rate when I canceled mine. ;)

Love the painting!❤ On our last cruise, we actually left the ship with a $2.50 credit.😃 Since we used cash for our onboard account, we got it back in cash. Thanks for the heads up! I've been considering purchasing gift cards to help pay for our next cruise. I never even thought about saving them after I use them!

Great tip!... I get all my gift cards in BJ's and you pay about $95 x each $100 that you buy it there. I didn't knew about the return, but I actually overspend so no need to worry this time LOL. On arrival, we added about 25 gift cards of all amounts (from $5 through $100, mostly $5's LOL) to our account, and worked GREAT!... Also, thumbs up to your hubbie, he did a GREAT job!... Maybe we can convinced him that he need to do a second for the next give away ;)

Yes, I have had some people tell me that. We tried last month and couldnt, so I looked it up online and the DCL site says you have to put them on your OB account. So they obviously CAN take them in the gift shop.. I guess you have to find a CM WILLING to do so. I wish they would though because my kids would like that better.
