I have a question. What do the pedals do on the bottom of the piano??

The left pedal slightly softens the tone. The right pedal sustains the note after you let go the key (makes it last a little longer). The middle pedal is different on some pianos. On grands it is a sostenuto which does a different kind of sustain. On most uprights it is what is called a practice pedal which quietenz the piano a little.
