I would never have gone by a motto that's "sisters before misters" before and I certainly won't now. I can know my friends like the back of my hand and still not know the guys/girls/nonbinary individuals they're dating and how they're being influenced by who they're dating. After being in an extremely abusive relationship for two years, I know that I can predict my friend's behavior but not the other person's. If something seems off, it's not always a selfish reason for them ignoring you but it's ok if they want to spend time with someone they're in a new relationship with. Just make sure you're asking the right questions and support them any way you can. Don't be so quick to judge if they're not spending as much time with you and just make sure they know you're there. You can make them aware they're spending a lot of time with the person they're dating in a not annoying way because sometimes people don't even realize or if somethings going on, that can be the start of them telling you they need help. Don't automatically drop your friends. They're not always doing it to be jerks. They're allowed to be a little excited about a new relationship no matter how old they are or how many they've had. There are people in the world who target others and separate them from everyone else in their life so that the people they need the most will leave them and they'll come to rely on the toxic abuser. Just be aware of that and the signs to help protect each other. It's been four years and I'm still not completely over it but I had some great girlfriends to help me not feel like I was worthless at the end of the day which helped immensely.

I can relate to the term sisters before misters because I almost lost my friend to a boy that left our school and is going to high school next year and before he left on the last day she just wanted a picture of him(she was obsessed and stalked him)and he's friend said she must leave him alone and broke her camera and pushed her against the wall and she was mad at me because she thought she heard me tell the teacher he's name when she asked (fyi she was outside the class)and she didn't believe me when I said yes I said it but almost everyone said it before me and she only blamed me because I said it louder than everyone at first I used her code name she gave him(Deja Vu) but that day I felt like crap and cried and the fact she'd just ignore me made it worse and yeah it's a long story after that and I'll end it here but at least after all that we remained friends
