It’s been painfully obvious since 2017 with the release of TLJ and the divisive reception it received, and 2019 with the complete debacle that was ROS, that Kathleen Kennedy just does NOT understand Star Wars, It’s lore, it’s fanbase, and she lacks the creative vision to generate excitement in the franchise. She does not deserve credit for TFA in 2015 because it was a complete rehash of Episode 4. You can’t fit a square peg into a round hole. TLDR: Kathy Kennedy probably hasn't been removed because she keeps delaying that decision with fake announcements, along with an iffy record of success. It's not what you did 5 years ago, it's "What have you done for me lately." I think part of the reason why she hasn't been removed was because she was appointed head of Lucasfilm by George Lucas on the way out shortly after the acquisition by Disney. And maybe there's a clause in the Memorandum of Understanding that was signed when Disney bought Lucasfilm that prevents her removal. Either way, I don't think Disney wants to step on his toes. But even then, even George Lucas has to see the gross incompetence on display at Lucasfilm. As for the announcements, I think they do it to build hype in the community to show that they're serious about making new movies, while also showing shareholders that there is always stuff in the works. A delay tactic to stave off her removal. A shiny object that keeps the shareholders just interested enough to keep her in place. Regardless of all of this, Kathleen Kennedy should be removed based on the reception and box office of Indiana Jones, which was a flop of historic proportions, along with handful of Disney Plus shows that were met with Lukewarm responses at best, and outright hatred at worst.

There's a rumor from Kamran Pasha that George Lucas himself put a clause in KK's contract protecting her from being fired under normal circumstances. If that's true, then it's likely that Lucas put it there to protect KK from Prequel critics, as Lucas originally expected KK to make his Sequel Trilogy, which was very connected to the Prequels. What he failed to realize, of course was that KK, Iger, JJ, and Horn themselves are Prequel critics. Thus, KK, despite having generated controversy in deviation from Lucas's vision, is now being protected by the very same clause that was likely meant to make it safe for her to execute Lucas's vision in the first place. Not saying Lucas's vision would have been perfect, mind you. But that clause could explain things.
@sAdam_II5 күн бұрын
I think the reason behind KK still staying in LucasFilm is same as why in comicbooks Peter Parker and Mary Jane are not married. They don't want to give "other side" a win. Personally, I do think that "owning the chuds" is a good long-term strategy.

I think a lot of people who were asked do not want the job. Directors have made similar statements, but one of the reasons why no one wants to work in the Star Wars universe is because they do not want to deal with the fandom, and it doesn't take a genius to see why. The amount of vitriol Kennedy has gotten during her tenure at Lucasfilm alone is grossly apparent. I don't like her output either, but if you think other execs are ignoring the backlash against her while sitting at an interview for her job, you are mental. Star Wars has nowhere to go storywise following the Sequel Trilogy. The only way to go is to reboot the sequel trilogy and replace it with the Thrawn Trilogy from Heir to the Empire to Last Command. You can then deepfake the trio and introduce Talon Karrde, Mara Jade, Thrawn, Jacen and Jaina Solo. They can than eventually introduce other characters like Kyle Katarn and Ben Skywalker after the new sequel trilogy. @@Tao_Tology Please tell me what would've been gained by having Han, Luke, and Leia meet up again. It would've been nice from a fan service perspective, but we already have 3 movies worth of Luke, Leia, and Han interacting. Would the movies really at all be better if we saw the exact same thing again, but now Luke, Leia, and Han are old?

@@brewster_4 (Hilarious that you don't want to talk about killing one of them off and keeping another one mute. 😄 ) Have fun with wharever you were hoping for here, buddy.

I mean let's be honest here, who wants three more Rey movies, a character so poorly written and so forgettable, plus next year we can look forward to Andor season 2.

Breaking News: Star Wars is dead More Breaking News: Star Wars being dead isn’t actually breaking news… it’s been dead for a long while now. Oh well… Star Wars gone, carry on.

Kathleen Kennedy's contract is supposed to be up this year since being extended back in 2021. Iger is on his way out the door soon, so I think he'll not do anything before he leaves and will leave it up to the new CEO whomever it is.

"Let The Anger Flow through you, .." I was intrigued about Rey bringing back the jedi order and hopefully finn as well, Thing is they're still obsessed with Skywalker.. And I think Rogue Squadron movie had potential..😔🛑🎬
