Disney's Animal Kingdom April 2022! Character Hugs RETURN, NEW Earth Day Treats, Genie+ Tips!

Kingdom for the first day that character hugs and regular meet and greets are returning, the first day of Disney's annual Earth Day Celebration and Animal Kingdom anniversary week that runs April 18-24, 2022, and, and the re-opening of Expedition Everest, one of Disney World's BEST rides, plus a successful day using Disney Genie+! For the Earth Day celebration, Animal Kingdom has some special characters out and I got to meet the rare Gypsy moth from Bug's Life and more! I also show you how we use Genie plus stack afternoon Lightning Lanes with your favorite rides, and just basically how to use it successfully (after some past unsuccessful attempts where things did not go this smoothly, I've learned some things that I share with you) and really make the most of your day! I got to ride everything I wanted to ride today using Lightning Lanes, including Expedition Everest, Na'vi River Journey, Dinosaur, Tough to be a Bug, and had time to meet characters, shop, try a special new Earth Day frozen cotton candy slushy that was DELICIOUS, and enjoy the scenery without rushing around! One correction/clarification: after you select your 7am Lightning Lane, you can select the next one 2 hours after the park opens (unless you are there in person and tap in to your first ride right at opening), and Animal Kingdom opened at 7:30am so that’s why I was able to grab another at 9:30am, but if the park would have opened at 9am, I would have been able to select the next one at 11am. But you can still use the same strategy to stack them up for the afternoon. Sorry if that was confusing! Such a FUN, successful day at Animal Kingdom celebrating so many Disney updates, and actually using Genie+ right! Hope you have fun with me in this action packed day!! Also, I hope my explanation of how I stacked Lightning Lanes helped, pls let me know if you have other questions about it!

I remember when animal kingdom opened, especially when a bug’s life movie came out. I remember being there and there was a bug’s life event going on. I also took my 4 year old on dinosaur last October for the first time and he asked Santa to bring him a carnotaurus for Christmas b/c of that ride! He still asks to ride that ride often.

You totally sold Lightning Lane to me especially for AK! That’s the most positive and useful explanation I’ve heard and shows it can be useful and if used right to can really help you enjoy your day and not have the uncertainty about missing rides, wait times etc especially at AK with a limited number of high demand rides .

Yaay I'm so glad, Phil! The only correction I need to make that I don't think I explained right, is that you can select your first LL at 7am, and you can select your second LL 2 hours after whichever park you're going to opens. Animal Kingdom opened at 7:30am this day, so I actually got my second one at 9:30am, not 9am like I thought. It's so confusing, even I get confused trying to explain it! I'll try to do better in my next vid, but everything else still applies and it can be used in that exact way! Glad it was helpful!!

Hi, this is great. It looks fun to hug and take pics with characters, happy for all. Taking pics with characters is the best. After all, Characters are what started Disney, so they are super important. I love them all. Happy for people and characters to interact again. When we go to Disney in 3 weeks, we won't go hug characters, because of germs, but it good for people who don't care. If germs weren't a thing, so many people touch them and don't Lysol off. Any other day, the return that I’d be most excited about would have been Expedition Everest’s - but the return of character hugs has me all teary-eyed. 🥹 Rain can’t ruin this day! Nothing brings more magic at Disney parks across the globe than the human (and dog, and moth, and bizarre-looking bird) element. The cherry cotton candy slush sounds right up our alley. Fully agree with you on Genie+, too; for all its faults, when you do score that magical LL pass, it’s a day-maker. 😂 Thanks for taking us along for your wonderful outing at our favorite WDW park!

Same here, the main thing I was excited about was Everest being back, but then the character thing got me! Jackie, I notice that you have your front-facing camera on your phone set to mirror image. That's why all the writing on your shirt is backwards in the photos. You can switch it to "normal" so that selfies won't have everything backwards.
