I am always conscious about what I eat vacation or not but I believe in moderation and not deprivation. We tend to share the treats so we can try more without the guilt. And btw I love that path , it is my favorite part of the marathon because it means I’m almost done😀

Hi Jennifer! Yes preach louder!!! I could not imagine denying myself anything. It's all about moderation and time and place. Sharing is caring! lol Ohhhh I didn't realize the marathon went that way. @ I think you’ve covered them, but you can also walk up around by Dolphin, Swan, Reserve, and the mini golf place, too which is interesting as well. We also love walking around Caribbean Beach and Riveria, and then Pop and Animation all via the Skyliner. Another beautiful walk is all around Coronado Springs , inside and out. We do enjoy walking the Monorail trek that you guys did already. I think Michelle didn’t enjoy walking around Wilderness, but I would think walking around Wilderness and hoping on the boat to Campground would be enjoyable and beautiful.

Congratulations on the great weight loss! I’m the person who mentioned my husband and I are intermittent fasters. At Disney, we plan one table service meal per day. Normally, it’s lunch around noon or a late breakfast (like 10:30), then just have a snack before we close our eating window around 5 or 6 hours later. Our appetites have changed with this way of eating and there’s no way we could eat two large meals. This, along with the extra steps while at Disney, keeps us from gaining too much. Last trip we both had no weight gain! Yay! Best wishes on your journey! You may find your tastes change over time. I now crave healthier foods and try more and more to avoid most processed foods. (I’m with you about sweating, Michelle! Not a fan. That’s why we avoid Florida in the hotter months. 😂) Have a great cruise!
@TravelingAroundDisney16 сағат бұрын
Karen, I totally agree. Our taste have changed along the way, but it’s been a great adventure. We have some other friends that are intermitted pastors and I applaud you guys for being able to do that that is the great thing about this journey. Everybody has a different path, but in the end as long as you stick with your path you’re gonna be OK. Yeah coming to Disney you definitely get your steps in. Thank you so much for traveling along with us and we hope you have a great weekend

Hi Marylou, the final step count 6720, which wasn't as many as I would have thought so not too bad of a walk. I tease him about his glasses all the time. We have like 50 pairs around the house because he is always breaking them. His eye doctor years ago told him the dollar store kind was just as good and so that's all he gets. I guess that's good because I don't want to keep buying him expensive prescription glasses. Thank you so much for your encouragement! - Michelle

Thank ya'll for sharing ... I'm on my own journey to get my sugar under control and it's helpful to hear you guys discuss what is working for you both. It's a marathon, not a sprint!! I missed what kind/flavor the protein bar was in the video. I'd love to know. My new favorite snack is making sugar free vanilla pudding (Jello brand - the Walmart brand isn't as good) with Fairlife milk, then adding coconut extract and a little shredded coconut ... tastes like coconut cream pie. Thank you both and keep up the good work!!

We love your walk and talk videos! It helps to hear about other wellness journeys. Motivation is contagious. I share your dislike of cottage cheese. I gag at the site of cottage cheese. My sister has convinced me to add a couple of tablespoons to my scrambled eggs. It does make the eggs lighter and fluffier. I like them when I can convince my brain to forget there is cottage cheese! Totally mental! Our tricks for the parks - we avoid the “all you care to enjoy” locations. We usually carry protein bars or protein powder to mix in the coffee and attempt to make wiser choices at restaurants. Have fun on your three day Wish cruise. Three-day cruises are hectic, but still a cruise and better than not cruising! On the cruise - take the steps as an extra exercise. Helps with waiting on the elevators on too! Thanks again for sharing your journey.

I love this walk & talk series. Michelle now having a mic is the best thing ever! She honestly reminds me a lot of myself. Also, I think it's time for Michelle to invest in some new clothes or at least shorts/pants. I understand not wanting to buy a ton if you plan on losing more, but there is nothing worse than trying to walk and constantly having to lift up your pants! It's a shame they don't make adult jeans with the adjustable waistband like they do with kids clothing. I mean that would be great for a day you're feeling a little bloated, just move it out a notch or two. Other options for filming locations could be the "running" path at the different resorts. Oh and I'm with Todd, "Go Birds!!!"

Lindsey, I think she’s getting ready to she just had to get to a point where they just got to uncomfortable but definitely she will be getting some soon. A little bit like you said but not a lot. Thanks for sharing guys! I’ve lived the low carb lifestyle for what will be 8 years on Feb 1. I am now mostly carnivore. I’ve maintained a 70 pound weight loss. Not only has it helped my physical health- (my hgA1c is 4.2 and my triglycerides are 34) but it also helps keep my depression and anxiety in check and tolerable. Not a cure all, but sure has improved my life!

@@TravelingAroundDisney Thanks, Michelle! My advice is take it one meal at a time, one day at a time, one week at a time (honestly sometimes one bite at a time). Like you did today on your walk, keep something to have when you see everyone else having their treats. I do find it more difficult at Disney, as we are vacationers and everything seems "special". My go to treat is the shaken Jamaican at Joffrey's, with a Splenda and a splash of half and half. I only get that at Disney, so it is a treat to me! My biggest goal is to keep moving and build strength. I am in my 50s and have a 34 year old disabled daughter that I care for. THAT is my motivation. We all have our reasons! Everyone, find your reason! I'll be at Disney starting on Valentines day, and am already looking forward to my shakin Jamaican and my ability to walk ALL DAY without pain. Hopefully I'll run into you and Todd and give a real life hug to you both.

I’m loving these walk and talks although I’m a day behind. I cannot stand cottage cheese but if I whip it until it’s smooth and light then the texture doesn’t bother me. I mix in a scoop of flavorless collagen powder and go sweet or savory by adding fruit or garlic and EBTBS. So delicious. I’m so glad you’re sharing your journey with us as it’s very motivating. I’m following along with you both. ❤❤To answer your question Michelle if I’m doing a Disney Vacation I can guarantee15,000 to 20,000+ steps. I do make a plan of foods I want to try and look at menus ahead of time. I watch calories but don’t stress. When we went to Japan we were there for 2 weeks and came home 5# lighter and ate everything we wanted.

Use to take that route sometimes when we stayed at the Yacht Club and couldn’t be bothered taking the boat back because of the long wait. Sorry Todd, forgot to pack my patience! lol! I think yous two are doing great,long May you keep it up! I recently bought some new clothes and gave quite a bit of my old clothes to charity/thrift shops, so I now have no choice but to maintain desired weight! Great incentive, isn’t it! Michelle, I agree with you about the lower intake with the carbs, but I do eat carbs a few times a week no. What I do is use the upper and lower GI diet when eating carbs, which is good for diabetics, and others. What I eat is slow releasing carbs, like sweet potatoes, slice of granary or sourdough bread. I put sliced bread in freezer and take it out when I want it. I know porridge is good, put plenty of fruit on top ( usually blueberries or strawberries). No sugar. I’ve been eating a lot of kefir ( type of yoghurt, I know you’re thinking eew!lol!), but it’s good for your digestive system. I eat it with, again plenty of berries on top and without sugars, sweeteners, or honey. But ( I know I’m not supposed to start a sentence with but), I know this is works for me. Also, I eat a lot of chicken and fish, eat red meat now and then. If I do eat ground beef, I make sure it’s lean ( 5% of fat). I have discovered raw veggies and hummus, again I don’t eat a huge amount of the hummus because of the fat content, even though it’s a protein. I do believe in walking, great cardiovascular exercise for me, recently been given the all clear from my heart consultant ( been diagnosed with pericardial effusion ) to take chair yoga classes, or Gi gong ( type of tai chi), which is great for flexibility and balance. Was recommended from my chair yoga instructor to help with my knees, flexibility and balance. Look into the Gigong, since it’s great for seniors to help them reduce their falls, balance issues and it also said it could help people with Parkinson’s. But, I would definitely ask your GP before doing this, I guess depending on the stage of the Parkinson’s. Lastly Michelle and Todd, I’m a Raven’s fan, guess where I’m originally from! lol! Loved the vlog and looking forward to seeing your Castaway marathon!
@TravelingAroundDisneyКүн бұрын
That was a great decision! It really was faster than the boat if your motivated to walk quicker than we did. lol...You will need patience now as the parks are packed. Thank you for the tips! That sounds very close to what we are doing. Good for you for trying the balance and flexibility classes that is so important as we get older - as we all do unfortunately lol. Todd asks if your from Cleveland Ohio lol. I have no clue what that means... but he seemed to know. And yes, I am looking forward to the Castaway marathon...it might be ugly lol. - Michelle

@ No i’m originally from Baltimore, hence The Baltimore Ravens. I think the Ravens were a Cleveland Browns team, before they were traded as a Baltimore Ravens team. Having said that we had a similar situation back in the day, Baltimore’s original football team was called, the Baltimore Colts, before the owner shipped the team to Indianapolis. I believe we were the first team that owners would ship the team to a different city. For years we didn’t have a football team m routed for Washington DC’s team, until we now have the Ravens.

Hi Ann! Yes, exactly...I think that's the combo that seems to help most people with better health. I struggled for so long with the low fat, high carb diet and I just didn't get anywhere with that. Yes, moderation is the key...and that just means you have to visit the parks more! - Michelle

Mmmmm. Built bars! In the heat of summer I freeze the bars and puffs! Another delicious one - Barebells Protein bars. Another way I like to get protein in is to add 1/4 cup cottage cheese mixed into your scrambled egg mix ( I use 1 whole egg and 4 egg whites - Kirkland brand is affordable). You just have to make sure you figure in the 195 g sodium into your daily macros that’s in the cottage cheese. Best part of this is I don't taste the cottage cheese when it melts. To me it tastes like I have salted my eggs. You two are doing great. Also, that’s one of my favorite walks - the Boardwalk is my home! 😊. I hope you guys do the fitness walking path in Fort Wilderness. Do they still have it there?
