This is the first DL video I've seen that ACTUALLY tells me somthing new. So many "secret DL secrets" videos are out there and anyone who spent a few years with a yearly pass and a cursory bit of knowledge about the park's history already knows. Had no idea abut Walt's fire pole and it makes me feel ashamed that through my many visits, I never went to the firehouse or bothered to learn anything about it...good job yall I just figured the firehouse was basically a "Get Your Feel Special Badge" facility or for lost kids...man, I wish I hadn't ignored it for all these years

About the always-on light in Walt's office: I'm told that it's always on *except* when a Disney family member is in the park. It's then turned off as a mark of respect.

The Flags on top of the buildings on Main Street actually are technically "Official" since they have the 45 stars and the time period Main Street is set at the turn of the century when there were only 45 stars on the flag.

It happens to everyone! seeing my 46 old father freeze and raise his hands to his wide-eyed face when he saw Alice and the Mad Hatter was definitely something I'll never forget. I remember having the same reaction when I first saw Jack and Sally.

Provost Park Pass is my favorite Disney KZbin program. Mr. Provost has a fine broadcasting voice, which helps a lot. His energy, enthusiasm and excellent communication skills gives him the charisma to make his segments fun. The substance of his content shows he cares enough to do his homework, which makes his spiels as interesting as they are informative. Kudos, my friend.

Fun facts...the Magic Shop isn't actually ran by Disneyland Cast Members. It's a 3rd party company that runs it. That and Crystal Arts shop are both ran by private companies and aren't technically even employees of Disneyland. The half/half light isn't actually a light. It's just a plastic cover that goes over the bulb.

Great video! The "shocking machine" at the Penny Arcade is one of our must -do attractions. It was removed for several years around the time they opened up the back of each store front into one mega-store. I am a particular fan of the DLRR. Fitting that they honored Ward Kimball as namesake for an engine; in addition to being one of the "9 old men", he was a train buff that was hired to paint the locomotive engines at Golden Spike National Historic Site in Promontory, UT. The locomotive engines used in the reenactment, Jupiter and #119, were hand painted by Kimball, based on historical photos.

It is super impressive you can talk and walk so smoothly!! You have mad skills. I am going next month and I am ALWAYS finding tid bits that not everyone talks about. I bought a Disneyland Tobacco Matchbook at Salt Lake Comic Con from a vendor last year! And I am TOTALLY going down center street next month!! Of all the years I've been to DL I've never been all the way down. Also a fact a local here in Utah, named Cat Palmer, Her grandfather has his name on a window because he worked for Disney for so long. Perhaps you need to do a whole video on the people's names on the windows!!!!

Another couple of cool facts about Main Street: The Main Street train station is built true size. The castle is built to scale using forced perspective. In the morning when you enter the castle looks far away due to the scale, and when you leave at night and are tired, the train station being real size makes the distance seem closer. The Street lights at the beginning of Main Street are gas because it keeps with the old times, as you move towards the hub they switch to electric because you are moving forward in time. Love your channel!

@1:12 hey chris, this is actually incorrect , the us code which you can look up later, says that any flag that is similar to the us flag has to follow those guidelines so even those flags with the one missing star would need to lowered or dropped. The thing is that these guidelines are not enforced. The reason they have one less star is because mainstreet is set at the time walt was a little kid and that's how many states there were.

I am not sure if you know about it, or mentioned it in another one of your videos, but there's something interesting about the Disneyland Railroad. The last car (the caboose) is called the Lilly Belle Presidential Parlor Car. It was originally conceived by Walt Disney for entertaining VIP guests by offering them a tour of the park in a much more intimate setting. The Lilly Belle is decorated with mahogany and features stained glass panels, antique furnishings, polished brass lamps and custom made wool carpeting. In order to ride inside you have to be a VIP guest appointed by the Walt Disney Company or a member of Club 33 (or a guest accompanied by a Club 33 member).

The coal town in NE PA where I grew up had a Centre Street and a Main Street as the transecting street. On both the North and South sides of Centre Street the shops and banks were located. Main Street North led to the train station. Main Street South had a grocery and a tobacconist's and, a few blocks further south, were the large houses of the "elite" of the town, sometimes called the "upper 500". With the decline of the coal mines in the 1950s/60s, the town began to die. The streets are still there, but almost all the shops are closed. The restaurant was torn down in favor of a high-rise for geriatrics, and "the upper 500" have closed or sold out their businesses and moved away. It is a nice place to be FROM.

Steamboat Willie is the one film that has always been in Main Street Cinema since 1955. I can't remember when it became all Mickey Mouse. It's probably all video transfer now, but originally the other 5 cartoons were silent Super 8mm prints of Mickey cartoons, at least one of which was first in color! (Mickey's Polo Team I believe) I can remember four of what the six screens showed before the Mickey years: Steamboat Willie, a reel of Disney's Laugh-O-Grams from his Kansas City days, The Great Train Robbery, and a 10 min reel of the 1916 version of 20,000 Leagues Under The Sea.

When I was a kid the penny acarde was an actual arcade, used to play X-men the arcade game there. Also there used to be a theater that would play old Disney cartoons on 3 different screens
