Lets just say cinema is art...and like any art it has its period when it is popular among the masses...and after that period only those who really love it are left...So, cinema will not be dead...just the movies that we see on the big screen will have much lower budget.

I’ve noticed some articles fudging box office numbers with Tenet here in the US. It made about 53 million dollars it’s first weekend, including advance screenings where theaters were open, then the next week, it’s first full week and second weekend, they said Tenet has made an estimated total of 30 million dollars all around in the US. Well that’s just a bunch of lies when looking at the previous week. If it made about 53 million the previous week, then it made around 30 million the following week, then in the US it’s made over 80 million. I think due to the fact things are opening more, some websites and journalists want people to be in fear. Fact is, the curve has been flattened regarding the virus in the US. Certain cities have had high cases of it due to incompetence of politicians since this whole thing happened. Because of this, they say if you go to the theater you’re likely going to kill people, even though here when you go to a theater, there are two empty seats next to you or a group of people if you see a film with friends or family, as well as the people running the theaters making sure everything is sanitary. Considering what’s been going on in the world, Tenet is doing well box office wise in the US and the world as well, making about 200 million dollars as of this past weekend. I’ve seen Tenet twice and I think it gets better the more I see it. It’s worth watching at least two times on the big screen. You catch things the first time you see it and the second time you see all those things plus more. It’s a great experience to have.

Jared you think like a good man. I wish more people could perceive our current situation in the ways of your common sense. This is probably the best comment I've seen, thank you.

30 dollars is an exorbitant price for a movie in a theater with a superb projection and sound system, let alone when it comes to streaming. I don't see that working in shithole countries like mine. I can eat like a king for a week on that kind of money lol Edit: I think it worked this time because people were afraid of going to theaters.

No way would I pay $30 to see a movie on a small screen TV! I wouldn’t even pay $10!! I would only pay $10-$15 at a large screen cinema cos of the great experience you get... Recently saw Tenet and it was very good and the music and visuals were incredibly powerful...

Damn I pay for Boxing UFC PPVs all the time and I remember thinking wouldn’t it be better if we could just do the same for the latest movies? I think I regret that wish!

I love that over $200 mill at the box office for a film during a worldwide pandemic is considered the death of cinema. Nolan ain’t classic cinema, he’s pop culture with fanboys for an audience.

No shit, cinema will be fine after the pandemic. 😕😑

I think covid was the nail in the coffin, pre-covid theaters were already struggling to maintain business during the week. And who wants to pay $11 to fancy a nap anyway.

For some reason I just couldn't get into Tenet. The story just didn't grab me like Nolan's other films.

Didn't china really push this movie as a cultural pride film? Seems Companies are really into doing that with their marketing in this day and age.
