DISNEY’S NOT SO GRAND CALIFORNIAN - DISNEYLAND VLOG
It's the moment we have been waiting for during our California vlog series. We've been to a few theme parks already but now we're going to the one we've dreamed about! DISNEYLAND!!! We are on our way to stay at the Disney's Grand Californian Hotel for 5 nights and we need to check in. In the vlog we show our first reactions to this amazing hotel, take a trip into Downtown disney to check out some of the merchandise at the World of Disney, have a bite to eat at Earl of Sandwich before heading back to the hotel to see what our room was like... and it got interesting. After we got our stuff in our room, and gave you guys a quick room tour, we headed across the road to the Disneyland Hotel and had an evening at Trader Sam's.

I feel that you purchased a standard view and that's what the description says. Views of rooftop or parking structure. Personally, I think the woods/courtyard views are nice but not as pricey as a theme park view

was a DVC member for years, being a member was great for Disney World but not for Disneyland. Grand Cali. is the only hotel for DVC right now , costs lots of points to stay there and we were not treated very well. Our flight arrived early so we told the desk we were there and they said check in was not until 4:00 P.M. which was fine so we spent the afternoon at Downtown Disney. Went back to the desk at 4:00 to get our room number ,they gave us the room number but said it was not ready yet and we would get a text as soon as it was ready.

We Totally hope to go to Disneyland someday soon!!! The Original!!! To walk in Walt's footsteps and yes to ride the rides he personally had a hand in!!! 13:51 (Smiling): Since the Trader Sam’s at Disneyland was built before the one at the Polynesian. So then the little guy on ETB’s doors is not “from” the Polynesian. -The Disneyland Neighbor

You are right about the timings of the trader sam's opening but the mascot is originally from the polynesian resort which opened in 1971 ☺️

Great vlog guys, shame about the view but still a lovely hotel! Trader Sam's looked like a lot of fun, but where was the backside of Ollie's drink, only used to seeing the backside of schweitzer falls 😂 Looking forward to the rest of the Disneyland vlogs!!

continue from below. went up to the desk again at 5;00 and was told the people staying in the room asked for a late check out. I was a bit upset and asked if they had another room that was ready, they said NO we would have to wait. At 6: P.M. went back to the desk and they rudly said THE ROOM IS BEING CLEANED AND WOULD BE READY IN 20 MINUTES. At 7:00 P.M. I finally got the text, went to the room and you could tell it was quickly thrown together, carpet not vaccumed and only 2 towels in the bathroom, no DVD player that we were expecting to watch some movies that we brought. Front desk said they would have housekeeping drop one off but they never did.I feel we were treated less than other guest that had paid hundreds of dollars out of pocket to stay there after all it was Halloween season so prices were expensive. I will never stay there again!!

WDW and DL are both great, however Disneyland is more special to me due to being the original resort.

I think I would need a few of those cocktails after that view. It's interesting to see if you upgrade. I hate how hire car companies' scheme to get more money out of renters

It was just very dark and old fashioned and in need of a refresh like other properties across Disney resorts have had

@@TheKershawsAdventures I wondered if that's what you thought was dated. The hotel is representative of the Arts and Crafts movement in California (1895 - 1930). This movement emphasized dark wood, natural stone, ceramics, deeply colored glass etc. It was not airy and light but purposely focused on craftsmanship and natural materials that often felt "woodsy". The hotel captures that architectural style quite magnificently. I was just wondering if the beds, couch and linens were in good shape! We're going in a few months. Nice video though. The view part was hilarious!! I'm going to check our reservations lol.
