I just realized how genius it was for the Jungle Book to introduce the little girl as the last character. Throughout the movie Mowgli meets new animals that change his perspective in life, so it's pretty poetic that the last animal he meets is a human just like him, and that's what entices him to go to the man village.

Same. I’ve seen some say they don’t like the ending because it’s a cute girl that ultimately persuaded Mowgli into living in the man village instead, but it never bothered me. The whole point of Mowgli leaving the jungle is because its still filled with dangerous creatures that try to eat him several times, and showing him humans aren’t that bad. It’s similar to how Todd is able to accept living in the forest after being abandoned by his owner, he’s heartbroken but manages to make new friends and even falls in love with a vixen. A little sad they’re relationship is pretty rushed and Vixie doesn’t really have a personality aside being a pretty girl

I love Sleeping Beauty, visually is a stunning film, the score is so good and a great match for the visuals BUT making the fairies the actual main characters was a choice 😅 I mean taking care of Aurora is one thing but saving Philip, get rid of all the obstacles during the escape sequence and then enchant the sword (and basically guide the sword) that kills Maleficent, let the man do something 😅🤣

I agree that Lady and the tramp is Disney's love letter to dogs, and it's a beautiful, brilliant way to put it. Your videos are of great quality, and it is inspiring to see your love and appreciation for the visual art of every film. People often forget that animation began as an artform. My only disagreement is with your placement with "The sword in the stone", but I admit that my love for it might be based on nostalgia. It's not a very strong movie, but I recently rewatched it and I found it still makes me laugh. I will say though that it missed its potential to adapt the full Arthurian legend written by its source material, "The once and future king" by T.H. White. The book is divided in three parts, with the first one focusing on Merlin teaching young Arthur the life lessons he will need when he becomes a king. That is the most boring part of the saga, and unfortunately it's the only one that Disney adapted from the book. It would have been awesome to see the full story of King Arthur in full Disney wonder.

Thank you so much! The art of animation really is incredible. I would’ve liked to see Disney tackle the rest of the King Arthur story too. I’m sure it would’ve been more interesting than The Sword in the Stone.

If I’m not mistaken the other books in that trilogy weren’t written yet when Disney adapted it.

@@thetroveyoutubewhat are your thoughts on Quest for Camelot? I grew up reading a series that was heavily influenced by the Authorian legends and Excalibur, so I was always pretty disappointed with how Disney handled the story with Sword in the Stone.

I'm with you on Sleeping Beauty being number 1 from this era. It was my favorite Disney movie as a child because I loved Aurora and wanted to be as beautiful and as good of a singer as her. Now I look back on it and realize how good everything else is too. The art is stunning!! The fairies are so fun and Phillip is great (first prince to have a personality). Also the Once Upon A Dream dance through the forest is one of the most enchanting scenes in all of Disney for me ❤️

The Disney Silver Age Ranked: Keep in mind I have not seen Alice in Wonderland (1951) yet. 01: Peter Pan (1953) I love this films animation and sense of adventure. Sure, the film has not aged well in its humour and subtext, however the characters, action scenes, its mix of contemporary and the fantastical, and memorability factor makes it shine far over the rest. I also have a LOT of nostalgia for this film, it was a favourite of mine as a kid, and inspired so much of my creativity that I have adapted into my everyday life. 02: One Hundred and One Dalmatians (1961) A film I have grown to love with each repeated viewing. The animation is not as good as Sleeping Beauty, but the stories simple plot, fantastic villain in Cruella, and the films understanding of music and when to and not to use it, always stand out to me. Every character is memorable, and again the more contemporary setting prickles my interest more than the medieval stories. 03: Sleeping Beauty (1959) The stylised animation, the larger than life villain in Maleficent, the classic story and the action scenes are fantastic, honestly a Prince fighting a dragon is iconic! I love the Three Fairies and their banter and humour they bring to the film. The songs are also seriously memorable. A film I have grown to love more and more the older I get. 04: Lady and the Tramp (1955) The animation is top notch, and the forbidden love aspect makes it instantly a classic. The films modern day setting is also unique for Disney in this era and I appreciated that. The nail biting ending as well as its sense of stakes also makes it slightly more investing for me. 05: The Sword in the Stone (1963) This film does play out as a series of shorts more than I’d like, but I have so much fun with this film. Arthur and Merlin’s dynamic is hilarious, and I just had so much fun watching the wild and whacky antics ensue. The ending where it ties into King Arthur’s real life mythology is a bit rushed, but I still have mad respect for this film. I don’t think it’s as bad as others say it is. 06: The Jungle Book (1967) I liked this film, but it didn’t capture my attention nearly as much as I would have thought. Whilst the characters are fun, it does kind of feel like a bunch of stuff all just happening, and it didn’t necessarily all feel very relevant, it felt like they made it up on the spot. 07: Cinderella (1950) Basically a mouse movie disguised as a Disney Princess film. Cinderella is visually stunning, and I love the villain in Lady Tremaine, however the film just has too much cat / mouse scenes, instead of developing Cinderella’s story, her relationship to the Prince and maybe some further scenes to really explore the world this film takes place in. The humour is great, but the songs don’t really excite me.

You are really missing out by not seeing Alice In Wonderland. It's a really well-done movie, even though it's very different to most movies, that's because the source material is also different. The animation is amazing and I think Kathryn Beaumont makes a very likable Alice. My niece, also named Alice, loves it, and it was my sister's favourite Disney movie growing up. Now we just have to wait for her younger daughter Wendy to grow up so she can see Kathryn Beaumont's starring role in Peter Pan...

Chiming in just to give the xerox lines style a loving shoutout! I had no idea of the reasoning behind it, but I have always loved them and found them so charming. Ironically, I always felt they had a hand sketched quality so it's interesting to know the reason WHY they exist. Still really love them and they're something that stood out to me even as a child in a positive way. They really had that rough-around-the-edges whimsy I grew up appreciating. It's almost like seeing a rough pass animation brought straight to color and I dig it. THAT BEING SAID I am right there with you on #1!! My absolute favorite as a child was always Sleeping Beauty because I equally loved this tighter, more detailed animation as well! I think you basically hit every single point so I won't repeat, but it's truly one of those films that have left the strongest impressions on me and one of the earliest ones that sparked my love of the medium. Stylish, dark, whimsical, deliciously enchanting- love love love. Absolute masterpiece (plot flaws be damned).

in Spanish dubbing, Cinderella was even MORE SASSY and smarter or self-confident than she was on the original English version actually, or at least on the original neutral Spanish for international dubbing then - it got local Spanish variants after 2000, yet they loose a lot of the big deal appeal it was done improving the tone of the character furtherlymore than the original one.

For me I don't think I could ever rank these films - they all are so good, so nostalgic and remind me of my childhood at different times. They are all at 1. I really miss this disney style of animation: something about the disney films today (maybe bar Encanto) is tasteless and doesn't provide the same magic these old films did. They contain unforgettable music and unique characters and still enchant me to this day. this disney was before people were corrupted with greed and wanted to churn out films simply for the money, not the memories (and before many ridiculous and needed live action remakes). Keep up with the videos - they r awesome :).

Here’s my ranking: 8. The Sword in the Stone: I don’t think the movie is bad, but it is not great in comparison to the rest of the Silver Age. Merlin and Archimedes are great. They add charm and humor to the mix. Madam Mim is a great villain. The Wizard’s Duel is incredible. The songs sung by Madam Mim and Merlin are great! Some individual scenes are excellent. Unfortunately, the movie has a weak plot with the educational segments. Arthur isn’t particularly interesting as a character. The other characters aren’t great either. The ending is pretty bad. While it provides no shortage of entertainment at parts, this is just a fine movie. 6/10 7. Lady and the Tramp: This movie doesn’t do anything particularly wrong (other than the cats with their stereotypes). It’s just that there are other movies that are better. I do like the movie and it is just charming. The songs are great (other than the one the cats sing). The characters are good. I have nothing else to add. 7/10 6. Sleeping Beauty: The animation is gorgeous in this one. Each scene is beautiful to look at. Maleficent is such a good villain. I like the three fairies and they have great interactions. The story is pretty good. The songs are good as well. Unfortunately, Aurora is just bland, like Snow White. She doesn’t have much to do and you don’t care for her character. That is only a minor complaint, however. I do like the movie, but it isn’t one of my favorites. 8/10 5. The Jungle Book: This is a great movie. I love Baloo as a character, as he is one of my favorite Disney characters. The other characters are memorable and add charm to the movie. I love all of the songs. Bare Necessities and I Wanna Be Like You are the highlights. The animation is great. What holds the movie back for me is the usage of Shere Khan. He should have been in the movie more. Also, the way that King Louie and the monkeys are not the best. The live action version fixes all of my complaints with this one. Still, this is a highly enjoyable movie. 8/10 4. 101 Dalmatians: Like Lady and the Tramp, I don’t have any major issues with the movie. There are just other better Disney movies, I love the smaller scale, the story, and the animation. The characters are also great, with Cruella being a highlight. I love the songs, most notably Cruella De Vil. 8/10 3. Alice in Wonderland: The biggest strength and issue of the movie is that it is weird. On one hand, being weird gives the movie its identity. On the other hand, sometimes the movie can be too nonsensical. The characters are perfectly weird, especially the Mad Hatter and the Cheshire Cat. Alice is a good character as well. The animation is particularly incredible here. The songs are good, although there are some that are better than others. 8.5/10 2. Peter Pan: The only issue I have with this movie is the outdated use of Native Americans. They leave a stain on the movie. Without them, the movie is perfect, as I love everything else about it. The story is perfect, the animation is great, I love the characters, and the songs for the most part are excellent. 9/10 1. Cinderella: This is the best Disney movie from this era. It returns to the magic of the Golden Age. I love pretty much everything about it. While the mice subplot is distracting, it is still solid. This is a classic movie for a reason. Cinderella is one of the more developed Disney princesses, which makes the movie better. Tremaine and her daughters are great foils for Cinderella. The songs are great, and the animation is excellent. 9/10

There's a lot of iconic Disney film during this era but I think I'm not a fan of the segmented/episodic feeling in 4 of this films (Alice, Pan, Sword and Jungle). - Dalmatians and Lady are cute films, not groundbreaking but still good, with big highlights (Cruella in general and the Bella Notte scene). - Cinderella and Sleeping Beauty are the best of this era, good movies with some flaws, specially in the characters department, like focus on side characters more than the "main" character or the romantic interest, but the villains are awesome. I think both are pillars of Disney animation, and they deserve it.

Good video. But in my humble opinion The Jungle Book is the best Silver Age movie. At least is my favourite one. It was the first Disney movie with an amazing soundtrack. Don't get me wrong, I don't say the songs from Snow White, Pinnochio, Cinderella, Alice in Wonderland, Peter Pan, Sword and The Stone, Sleeping Beauty etc, etc are bad. Most of them have nice melodies, but with the Jungle Book they used amazing jazz music. The songs don't sound like nursery rhymes, they are even dancable. Disney movies wouldn't have such amazing songs till the Renaissance, with Alan Menken. And of course, there are beautiful songs too (the intro music, and the last song). And my second favourite is Alice in Wonderland, probably because I like nonsense. I think it's the movie that makes me laugh the most. Sword and The Stone is great too. Maybe the most educational of that era. Honestly, I don't remember 101 dalmatians and Lady and the Trump enough to have an opinion. I'd rank the others in this order: 6 - Cinderella 5 - Sleeping Beauty 4 - Peter Pan 3 - Sword and The Stone 2 - Alice in Wonderland 1 - The Jungle Book

8. Sword in the Stone 7. Lady in the Tramp 6. 101 Dalmatians 5. The Jungle Book 4. Alice in Wonderland 3. Peter Pan 2. Sleeping Beauty 1. Cinderella Cinderella and Sleeping Beauty are very close for me. The only reason Cinderella isn't a definitive #1 is the time they spend with the mice and Lucifer gets a bit old and feels more like a cartoon short. I do like the mice when they are with Cinderella and in the gown making scene, but the film focuses a bit too heavily on Jaq and Gus at times. While I agree with you that Lady and the Tramp is one of the prettiest films, for me it suffers the same as Bambi. I do love and enjoy it, and as a work of art I'd certainly rank it higher than Dalmatians, Jungle Book, Peter Pan and Alice...but it's just not as interesting.

8. I've never seen this one. 7. There was actually a darker set of songs planned for this movie originally, but they changed the tone and ended up abandoning it for a new version. The only remaining song from the original soundtrack is "The Bare Necessities". It's not the most interesting movie, but I love the backgrounds and some of the songs are fun. 6. I haven't seen the whole of this one. I would add here that this is based on a book by Dodie Smith. Once the dogs were stolen, I lost interest, although we certainly had a great villain. I'm not a dog person, but considering a certain other Silver Era movie, I don't think that's a factor in why this doesn't gel with me. Maybe it's just not my kind of movie. 5. Ah, the classic. It's pretty dated now, but I still think it's a great story and the animation is brilliant. A lot of people have problems with the "Indians", but despite the racist undertones, I find them really fun and I love the way they're drawn. But it didn't make me racist towards real people. I wasn't taken in. 4. This can get a bit darker than anyone remembers, but I think that's what makes it so good. The last sequence when Alice is running for her life and then begs herself to wake up is so tense. It's also animated better than your comparisons. My nieces have the names of Kathryn Beaumont's two characters in these last two movies. The elder of the two is three years old and loves watching her namesake travel through Wonderland. The Walrus and the Carpenter is also a bit creepily done, but it is a poem from Through the Looking Glass. I'm glad they used a lot Carroll's original poems for the songs. 3. Disney's iconic second princess! I like that she tries to be brave when she can't go to the ball at first by telling herself it'll be boring, even though she can't keep it up. The mice are quite cute despite their irritating voices. This movie rescued Disney from bankruptcy, and five years later, Disneyland opened. 2. This is my favourite. I think it shows the best chemistry of any Disney couple. I said before that I'm not a dog person, but I love this movie to death because I'm a hopeless romantic and it's very stylistically different to many other movies. Having no main villain also made this pretty unique. I hated Aunt Sarah too, though. Si and Am are problematic, but again, they didn't influence me. The rat is actually malicious, too. 1. This movie is both epic and messy. It's certainly the most beautiful of any Disney movie, and has the best villain and the best side characters, but the most boring Disney princess. I enjoy looking at this movie and listening to it more than watching it, if that makes any sense. It's more of an art piece than a good movie. I love that they used the music from the ballet. I wouldn't put it as my favourite, but I do appreciate it for the animation, the music and Eleanor Audley.

Aunt Sarah was very prejuditial on views but she was well-meanted and eventually towards the end of the movie it´s heard from the Dears that she REPENTED about her missjudgements which happens mostly because she was more a cat´s lady than a dog´s person, so she had issues about getting along to understand it better untill Lady got back her true owners to support her and then lead them to tell the truth about the Rat, who actually is the real evil-one at the movie. She is a very realistic character that is annoying but SHE ISN´T EVIL and furtherly it seems her character EVOLVES but it was cut out from the original movie at the end. She is nowhere nearby to a true lower realistic villain just... an annoying realistic old lady with a short mind on her own.

Sword in the Stone: Yeah. As a kid you might find some enjoyment. As an adult you're like, "Merlin? What's the point in teaching Wart about things that he'll never even see?!" Jungle Book: Oh, the ending's easy enough to explain, man: Puberty. The girl's singing a song saying she's going through it, and Mowgli was going through it at that very moment. She's piling on the sensualism and charms because she's going through puberty. 101 Dalmatians: Two years later they debuted 1963's "The Incredible Journey." 1993's "Homeward Bound" was actually a remake. "101 Dalmatians" and "Homeward Bound" have the same basic plot. A group of domesticated animals trying to find a way home through whatever counts as the wild where they live. Peter Pan: Peter Pan's maturity is in the same league as Mufasa's bravery. He's only mature when he HAS to be. This includes punishing a friend for trying to kill another friend, learning fast about sexual attraction when Tiger Lily tried to kiss him in opposition to Wendy, being mature enough to give Hook a chance to live and agree to his terms in battle, and being mature enough to know that Wendy's already started to grow up and that London is the best place for her. He's also mature enough to know that he couldn't separate John and Michael from her despite how much he knew they wanted to stay. Eh, racism aspect could've been worse though. Least they didn't ask "What makes the redskin red?" THAT would've pushed one button too many! Just ask Washington D.C. Alice in Wonderland: Yeah. Alice's dilemma is basically the same as Wendy's. Both THINK that a world of endless childhood fun and imagination is the ideal lifestyle, but once they experience it they realize to themselves that their guardians are right. They HAVE outgrown all this childish stuff and it's time to move on. Only difference is that Wendy has feelings for Peter Pan which complicates her decision to go back home for a bit. There's no real spark of romance in this movie. Cinderella: Once you get past the fact that the majority of this movie centers around the animal friends, you really enjoy it. The villain's perfect, her minion daughters were decent, and the cat was really mean. The heroine, while absent for a good portion of the movie, is decent, the mice are cute, funny, and entertaining, and the Fairy Godmother's song is nonsensical but charming. Lady and the Tramp: I....can't really comment on this. I haven't seen it enough to know much about it. Sleeping Beauty: Same. I don't really know this movie all that well either.

Thank you once again for sharing your thoughts! I guess you're right about the ending of The Jungle Book, although I thought the kids were like 8 so the idea of them going through puberty makes me uncomfortable lol I like how you described Peter Pan's maturity in relation to Mufasa's bravery. It makes a lot of sense. As for the racism, I guess it could always be "worse" but it's still pretty bad. I'm lowkey surprised that they didn't use the word "redskin" lol.

@@thetroveyoutube I'm....pretty sure Mowgli is ten. That's around the age when I couldn't stop staring at Kayley's considerable bust when I saw "Quest For Camelot" for the first time. It debuted in theaters a month before my tenth birthday, so. As for Shanti, girls tend to start hitting puberty when they're eight or nine, believe it or not.

Sword in the Stone: okay, but not very memorable 6. Lady and the Tramp: its a good movie but pales in comparison with the Silver Era 5. 101 Dalmatians: a really good movie with the xerox process undoing a lot of charm, but Cruella De Vil is magnificent! 4. Sleeping Beauty: wonderfull movie with a great villain but bland princess 3. Cinderella: no complaints except the ending maybe, with the Tremaines not getting payback for their actions 2. Peter Pan: a wonderfull movie in every way 1. Jungle Book: a perfect Disney movie with great songs and characters, one of the best movies in Disney history, rivaling the best of Disney Renaissance and Revival Era

My number 4 through 7 are interchangeable but here's my current rankings. 8. The Sword in the Stone (I 100℅ agree with everything you said in the video about this movie. I have some nostalgia for it but in my opinion this is the worst animated movie Walt himself worked on.) 7. Alice in Wonderland (best version of Alice ever made. And even the fact that it was a dream doesn't take my enjoyment away in the least.) 6. Peter Pan (dated elements aside, I love this movie. And I disagree with you about the pirates. Captain Hook especially is awesome.) 5. Lady and the Tramp (excellent love story though I think the dog P.O.V. might have been done better in a later Disney movie. And speaking of which...) 4. One Hundred and One Dalmatians (love everything about this movie. And if you notice, for once the parents are the main characters of a Disney movie rather than the children.) 3. The Jungle Book (one final gift from Walt. Pure fun, yeah the animation is not quite as great but that doesn't bother me too much as long as the story is excellent.) 2. Cinderella (Disney's first big comeback. A surprisingly mature story of overcoming abuse underneath everything.) 1. Sleeping Beauty (The end of an era as after this xerography began. And this movie ended the original animation style on a high note.)

Aunt Sarah, a woman who still has some care for things, is more of a devil than the woman who wanted to skin puppies for coats? If I wrote Maleficent and Aurora's story, I'd keep her tragic backstory, but keep her evil as well. The fairies would have their original names and personalities. The curse would stays death and Merryweather's gift would remain as well. The crow would still help out with caring for baby Aurora when she was growing, but either the crow didn't know it was the princess or just wouldn't tell Maleficent where she was cause he had compassion for the girl. Maleficent would keep her role as the iconic dragon she is and would meet her end by the blade of the prince.

My ranking: 8.) The Sword in the Stone (5.0625/10) Story was a bit discombobulated, Madam Mim was memorable, but under utilized to be memorable. Archimedes is the other standout character. Otherwise, not strong story, animation, and enjoyment wise. Most meh movie. 7.) Lady and the Tramp (5.125/10) Story felt a little episodic and I feel like nothing happened story wise. Animation and characters were mid for me as they were adjusting to a new screen size and all the dogs left me wanting for more personality. Still pretty average to me. 6.) Alice in Wonderland (5.625/10) The bonkers side characters carry this movie's episodic story that have no thru line for me. I don't like Alice personally as I find her too naïve and a little spoiled (not sure if that's the right word). Animation was fun and the cards sequences were definitely Disney flexes. Shoutout to the King of Hearts for being the best character. 5.) Cinderella (6.253/10) Really solid movie, just a lot more mouse vs. cat action that I enjoy a lot more in Tom and Jerry cartoons. Movie ends too fast for me as well. Tremaine is great, the sisters are annoying in the best way, and the King is great comedy. I wish the Prince got a little more personality. (Thank you Cinderella 3) 4.) Peter Pan (6.658/10) The racism knocks it down obviously, but music and enjoyment is great. I don't like Peter as he is too mean spirited for me. Hook and Smee are the best duo of villains of the era as they entertain me every time on screen and they are so memorable. 3.) Sleeping Beauty (6.7475/10) The most enchanting looking Disney movie, maybe ever, stylized to be reminiscent on stained glass windows. Maleficent is the best character from the movie and so very sinister. She is the best singular villain of the era, could be of all 60, but that remains to be seen. Aurora was actually a little boring for me, I preferred to learn more about Phillip. The fairies, I feel, could have been better if they had a little bit more distinct personality for Fauna. Follow the Golden Girls a bit. 2.) One Hundred and One Dalmatians (6.75/10) One of the first Disney movies I watched at home, it's just a comfort food movie. Pongo and Roger's relationship is great. The dead puppy scene is riveting to me every time with just the ticking clock, no music at all. The new animation style adds to the characterization of the movie for me as it always felt like a movie that is the epitome of "rough". Pun intended. The midnight bark is so great, with the cameos, and Cruella is just a great crazy villain. The journey running from her is an experience that I feel like I'm taking with them. 1.) The Jungle Book (7.1/10) The Bronze age will show this, but Phil Harris is my favorite voice actor in Disney. Love everything he does. Every song I'm known forever and all the side characters leave an imprint on me that I could name them each with ease. I know this a bit episodic in the story and the animation isn't great, but the enjoyment and characters are what keep the score up. I could watch this any day someone could ask and just bop along the whole time. The vultures, Bagheera and Shere Khan are all underrated in my book, especially with the vultures and Khan's limited screen time. I had four categories (story, characters, enjoyment, and aesthetics) and rate each out of 10, then divide by 4.

I think if Hook’s original voice remains the voice of Stefan if Holmes turned down the role, I would have been happy about this film and that he would have made it great and funny. 8. The Sword in the Stone. The only true blemish of the Silver Age. It's not bad by any means, but it is considerably weaker than the rest of the output. Arthur goes through the wringer a lot, and the ending's pretty esoteric. That said, there still are some great songs and Madam Mim's parts spice the movie up quite a bit. 7. Peter Pan. My favorite as a child, but the Native American stereotyping sets it back some. It's still a fun flick for the young at heart, filled with adventure, nostalgia and wonder. Captain Hook fits the bill for being hilarious and threatening when he needs to be, and he gets some awesome fight scenes with Peter. 6. Sleeping Beauty. Aurora takes a backseat for most of the movie, but the fairies, Philip and Maleficent make it really enjoyable. There's a noticeable bump in the animation technique compared to its predecessors, kind of a precursor to the Xerox style. The score being based on Tchaikovsky's ballet is also a lovely touch. 5. The Jungle Book. While this does take several artistic licenses, it's still an awesome romp with bouncy songs (King Louie, anyone?) and diverse characters. Baloo and Bagheera provide a great balance of foolish vs. responsible, and the buildup to Shere Khan is pretty intense. The Walt era goes out with a bang. 4. Alice in Wonderland. A faithful collage of Lewis Carroll's works while adding its own flair. Wonderland looks almost inviting with its vibrant colors and scenics. Of note are the calamity and the visual gags of the Mad Tea Party and Tweedledee and Tweedledum reciting "The Walrus and the Carpenter". Special mention goes to animating all those playing cards near the end. 3. 101 Dalmatians. Still a marketable classic after all these years. As a "modern" film, Roger being a songwriter gives insight as to early 1960s London just before Beatlemania. The puppies have plenty of personality, and you just love to hate Cruella and her bumbling henchmen. It all adds up to an incredible journey, especially for dog-lovers. 2. Lady and the Tramp. If there ever was a movie that's aged like a fine wine, it's this one. A lot of the jokes make sense as an adult, particularly about starting a family, dog ownership and promiscuity. It also has some edge-of-your-seat thrills, particularly with one threat after another at the climax. "Bella Notte" and the ending give off a warm and fuzzy feeling. 1. Cinderella. My favorite of the Walt era, almost redefining the fairy tale alone. So many memorable moments, like the entirety of the Fairy Godmother's appearance, Cinderella and the prince dancing at the ball and Cinderella trying the slipper on. And considering this was the movie that saved Walt's studio, that's what makes it even more magical.

Is it me or the peter pan what makes the red man song not that bad for me I think it is a charming way of describing how native American's look. "Let's go back a million years To the very first Injun prince He kissed a maid and start to blush And we've all been blushin' since" how is that racist I think it is sweet way of describing what makes a native American red it's not really insulting it is telling a story getting a kiss from a girl you blush so hard. Back then Disney could have been so much worse of depicting native American. I go to dumbo first song now that's racist saying that their happy men even when they don't get paid.

8. Sword in the Stone - Talk about wasted potential. "Disney's King Arthur" could have been their swords and sorcery Medieval epic that adapts the Arthurian legends (just without the adultery and incest), but nope, we got "Arthur: The Boring Years" 7. Cinderella - Yeah, I said it. Animation is outstanding and when it focuses on Cinderella, it's very enjoyable. But that's the problem, focus. The movie is more interested in the mice than on its title character. 6. Alice in Wonderland - Didn't leave much of an impact on me, it's fine. Honestly, the character of Alice was the most enjoyable part for me. She had more personality than I'd expect from this era of movies. 5. 101 Dalmatians - Very fun and nostalgic movie, Cruella brings it up this high. But ultimately not much to say. 4. Sleeping Beauty - Artstyle and animation is gorgeous, the Fairies are fun, Maleficent is an amazing villain. However the problem lies in its 2 protagonists. Phillip left no impression in the first half and has no lines in the second. Aurora is the most stereotypical, boring Disney princess of them all that has no unique defining character features that others do. However, I do still enjoy all the other aspects enough for a strong recommendation. 3. Lady and the Tramp - I wholeheartedly agree, it's a lovely film. Animation is amazing, its feelgood and Tramp, oh my God, I can't get over how much personality this guy has. 2. The Jungle Book - Used to be my number one, but when I read the book, some thoughts soured on how they took a coming of age story and turned it into a simple escort mission. However the characters and songs kept it alive for me. Bare Necessities is an all time favourite and Shere Khan, whilst very different to his book counterpart, is just so good I don't care. I find the personality switch between Baloo and Bagheera interesting, but kinda worked. Biggest problem is Mowgli however, in constant need of saving and doesn't really grow as a character. He only really defeats Shere Khan because the solution dropped on his lap. 1. Peter Pan - Love this movie, the music, the fun factor, Hook and Smee's slapstick, the story, it all just blended so well together for me (yes, I can look passed the racism) It's just a boys dream, just throw Cowboys, Ninja and Dinosaurs into the story and we're set.

Here's my Ranking 8. The Sword in the Stone: Honestly the animation is really an eye sore and besides Merlin and Madam Mim, the characters are rather bland 7. Alice in Wonderland: A little too episodic and though there are a few characters and songs that are enjoyable, I feel like there's a little too much going on to sit back and enjoy 6. Lady and the Tramp: It's cute, but ultimately besides the Spaghetti scene rather forgettable 5. Sleeping Beauty: Maleficent really steals the show, but everything else is rather meh, especially Aurora and Phillip 4. 101 Dalmatians: Pretty enjoyable and memorable characters especially the Villains 3. Cinderella: It's a beautifully animated movie with great charm, likable characters and memorable music 2. Peter Pan: Iconic classic that just screams Disney's best work 1. The Jungle Book: My all time Favorite Disney Movie. Great Animation, Humor, Characters and music.

My Ranking: 8. Peter Pan - Honestly the fact that they make a play written in the victorian era MORE racist than it was to start with makes this unwatchable for me. JM Barrie's Peter Pan is an immortal classic, but there are better adaptions out there. Personally I really like the 2003 version. 7. Alice in Wonderland - I think the fact that the book was basically an obsession of mine made it difficult for me to enjoy this movie. I simply wasn't what I pictured in my head and I was never able to get past that. 6. The Jungle Book - Middle of the road for me, but every one of the songs are absolute bops! 5. The Sword in the Stone - Also middle of the road, but the nostalgia I have for this one just gives it the edge. I always really resonated with Wart and having a wizard appear to take me on adventures that involve shape-shifting into animals was pretty much the dream. 4. Lady and the Tramp - Gorgeous, clever, with character archetypes that are both classic and timeless. Lady is unflappably elegant, Tramp is a rogue, I'll never be tired of that dynamic. The Victorian setting is also stunning! 3. Cinderella - Cinderella is just and icon. She is grace incarnate. The way she moves and that VOICE! I both want to be her and be with her! Every frame of this move looks like a fashion plate. Love that! Also Lady Tremaine has to be the most menacing villain in Disney cannon. Her cruelty is both so relatable and also so relentless! 2. 101 Dalmatians - I just love everything about this movie! The art style. The setting which is everything you image London to be stylish and timeless. The edge of your seat tension mixed with the kindness of strangers they meet along the way as they first rescue the puppies and then try to avoid capture from the demented Cruella! And Cruella... Oh Cruella! The design, the song, the GLAMP (glamour+camp), and that Tallulah Bankhead inspired "darling." Truly a villain for the ages! 1. Sleeping Beauty - This movie is a work of art and the song "I know you" lives in my head rent free, but the movie is on top for one reason and that is Maleficent. She is a goddess. She is perfection. I am literally in love with her. I would have her babies. You probably picked up on a theme here... I absolutely love me a lady villain - the more queercoded the better!!

my ranking for these would be as follows: 8 The Sword in the Stone This movie bored the shit out of me. it felt very episodic, and none of the segments was really entertaining. they also don't really build up to anything; the ending of this movie felt completely unearned. 7 Sleeping Beauty Hot take, i know. Everyone always praises the art style for this one, but honestly, it really didn't work for me. these backgrounds and stuff might look great if they were paintings, but as part of an animated movie, it all just felt dead. Maleficent also bored me. she's evil for the sake of being evil, which i don't like, and she's not even entertaining like Cruella. the fairies were funny though, i'll give the movie that. i'd talk about the main characters, but honestly, who cares about them? 6 Peter Pan this one has some good scenes, mainly in the beginning, but once we reach neverland, nothing good happens. the scene with the native americans is also extremely racist and hard to watch. the titular character is also a complete asshat, to the point where i found myself rooting for the villain. 5 101 Dalmatians Cruella de Vil is among disney's best villains. sure, she's evil for the sake of it, but she's so over-the-top insane about it that it makes her genuinely entertaining. every scene with her is a genuine blast. unfortunately, the same cannot be said for any of the other characters. every scene without Cruella bored me, especially the twilight bark which went on for far too long. 4 Alice in Wonderland this film is weird. it feels like some kind of nonsensical fever dream, but in a good way. most of the scenes were entertaining, especially the scenes with the mad hatter and the queen of hearts, though some also fell flat like tweedle dee & tweedle dum. all in all, an entertaining time. 3 The Jungle Book it's a bit too episodic for my liking, but most of the scenes are amusing. i'd have liked it more if the movie actually built up to something, cause as it stands, most of the scenes could be switched around without anything really changing. but hey, the movie we got was fun and entertaining. 2 Cinderella this is a good movie. i really started caring for Cinderella and her plight. i'm not a fan of the whole love on first sight thing though; it doesn't happen in the real world. you can't love each other if you don't know each other. the mice are also quite annoying. and did the prince really think that there's only 1 person in the kingdom with cinderella's shoe size? 1 Lady and the Tramp this movie is great. one of the few romances in early Disney that's actually believable. i didn't like the racist cat scene, but every other scene in this movie was great. it doesn't get more iconic than the bella notte scene. i also really liked how the characters played off of each other, with Lady being the proper one and Tramp being, well, a tramp. overall a great movie and the best of the silver age flicks.

We definitely agree on The Sword in the Stone, followed by us disagreeing on Sleeping Beauty haha. I love seeing Cinderella and Lady and the Tramp at top 2. Thanks for sharing your thoughts and ranking!

For an apprenticeship, there’s nothing scattered or pointless in the plot &/or sequences. And what was the point of the flirting w/ the female squirrel? Well, if you don’t know the point then something tells me you may not be able to identify with that. Just stating the obvious- to everyone but you apparently. That’s in what other Disney films?? Oh, yeah...all of them since Bambi. Hardly a surprise, man..
