Honestly I kind of disagree. If we had a more humanoid look like the one at 3:53 (Which for the purposes of this comment and from the physical appearance of the design, we're going to assume would be a boy) then my prediction would be that there'd be more of a push to "ship" Asha and the star from both the fanbase and (most likely) executives. It wouldn't help or further the story and I personally think it would have the potential to back them into a wall and make them into a meaningless romance that doesn't add anything or push the plot forward. Or maybe I just like cute, mass marketable things, and think that it doesn't really matter if they have a character to make plushies out of, I dunno.

The concept art is absolutely gorgeous, and the idea of Star being a happy-go-lucky, Jack Frost-esk human boy is so fascinating. But no, instead the movie’s final animation is less than stellar, and we get a tiny marketable plushie over an honest-to-God fun character. I hate modern Disney 😭

It's ironic for celebration of 100th anniversary of Disney they stayed away from every trait that created Disney's iconic legacy. Romance and Evil Villains. Inspiration from a culture. Like Mulan from China, Frozen from Norway. Does anyone know where Wish is set on? Which culture? Asha is Indian name meaning hope/desire but I don't see any Indian influence. So I might be wrong. 🤔

We were robbed. What would’ve worked more was if the king and queen were both evil and Asha was their daughter. Then Asha would’ve grown up thinking that keeping the wishes was the right thing and star boy had to help show her the right way. Also it would add a lot more to Asha’s character by standing against her parents since for all the other Disney princesses with evil parents they’re always stepparents (Lady Tremaine, Evil Queen, and Gothel). So the fact that a princesses actual parents are evil would’ve been so cool

1. The idea is that they're embracing both their past and their future. 2. There are too many limitations in terms of camera movement and characterization. 3. You can't create details on the characters like the embroidery on their clothes in 2d.

Then they could have referenced the newer movies while still using the 2D style or to make you happy they could still keep the 3D artstyle but incorporated 2D sections like thoughts or plans for certain scenes 2. So we are just going to forget Disney made Beauty and the Beast...with very complex camera movements at the time... 3. You *CAN* have embroidery on a 2D animation it just isn't recommended as it makes extra work but that could have been fixed using a different type of animation style

I REALLY wish (no pun intended) that the filmmakers didn't drop the humanoid version of Star or the villainous version of Queen Amaya. For one thing, we could've had the first Disney villain couple in history. But also we could've had an adorable couple in Asha/Starboy.

Introduction: Okay. Even though Wish didn't have a love interest in the current story presented to us. It doesn't mean it can happen down the road. Just not with the “Star Child” Asha has made friends with. Theory Time: (Wish 2: Guiding Stars.) What if Star had an "older" sibling? One who wanted to meet Asha because of Star after the "Wish" incident? Taking a form to blend in with everyone. A form around Asha's age. This "Star Boy" would try to impress Asha. Only to end up making a complete disaster. Accidentally releasing Magnifico. Meanwhile. A Sorceress (and hidden Ex.) of Magnifico's past is presented. One that is based on "Evil" Amaya's former plot that was scrapped. Bringing the evil duet to fruition. Plus it would create a form of drama with Queen Amaya. During the time of trying to fix the situation. The "Star Boy" works with Asha to stop Magnfico and the Sorceress from stealing wishes. Over time they form a bond in the process. Making him (and her) as their guiding star. Even though this is fan theory. It can work if the story gets expanded on. Thanks to anyone who reads this.

@@joshjones1848 Thanks. It's a rough fan theory I wrote within the amount of time I had before posting it. I try to see potential in stories despite criticism. Looking at ways it could branch out to the audience. If they ever decide to expand Wish later on. I wouldn't mind to see more adaptions from the art book. Also mirroring the songs from the demo that was kinda scrapped. Will update these comments later on. Including this fan plot. Hope everyone had a great holiday. Thanks to anyone who reads this.

Honestly, i'm not really interested in romance, but seeing the star was a human and potential romantic interest for Asha seemed so cute, and the queen and king could be such an evil power couple! At this point i feel like Disney is just afraid of straight relationships. Overall everything about the concept art is more interesting than what the movie came to be in the end. If they kept this, i'm sure the movie would be succesful just like Encanto.

(I didn't watch Wish because I'm from Brazil) In an interview by Brazilian KZbinr Dear Maidy with the film's directors, it was said that the final version of Star is a representation of Mickey, not only because of the shape of his face, but also because of what he means to Disney. I think they scrapped the Star Boy because they couldn't find a better way to represent Mickey in the movie (but Star Boy would be awesome too)

It seems people prefer concepts over the finished product. Look i haven’t watched wish yet so i cant tell for sure if the finished product has either good or bad ideas. But what i hear is that they dislike its plot. Also it seems that they think that couple of villains and boy star will "somehow magically" make the plot better. They are just ideas themselves, not plot itself. Let me tell you why i think it wont make it better, what I hear is that they disliked how they treated King Magnifico. If so, then the boy star would probably be a victim of treatment like Magnifico. One thing i have to agree on is that i like the ideas about humanoid boy star and villain couple better than finished. But if the criticizing thing i hear the most from Wish is the plot itself, then i don't see the reason to see that original concepts will make it better whenever you like concepts more or not. One thing i would say is that the only thing to make it better is to make the plot storytelling better, while they can use different ideas like one villain or couple villain, one little star or humanoid boy star or anything idea they had in pre production as long as they dont focus them over the quality of plot.
