I saw Nosferatu last night with a group of 7 people. My mother, two casual movie goers, my close friend, and his teenage son - who is a giant Robert Eggers fan and the Klaus Klinklski version is his favortie vampire movie - and his teenage girlfriend. We were all underwhelmed. I love slow burn movies, I don't mind llng movies, I love the 1921 Nosferatu and I love a great Dracula adaptation. I was underwhelmed. I felt the runtime, I hated psychic love connection with the girl, and Dafoe felt out if place to me. He was playing Anthony Hopkins from Coppola's version. Aside from the cinematography and the visuals I found it lacking. I had very high hopes. I'd give Nosferatu a 7/10.

I’m not opposed to the Orlock mustache. It’s actually pretty bold to differentiate itself from others and fits the atmosphere and costume in the movie. Also makes him looks more human contrasted to his inhuman appearance when he’s feeding.

@@fishjones4618 That is why i'm mixed on the issue in that it may be the best realised version of Dracula as he was in the book on screen as a slavic prince and monster. But it takes away from the iconic image of the bald rat-like Nosferatu.

@@fishjones4618Yes. Dracula is described as having a long white mustache in the novel. I personally don't like that look on Dracula, but it is in the book.

You laugh but with the people I watched Nosferatu with, the book was a huge turn off for them. Esp. since not long after they showed how to kill "a nosferatu" he dies sooner after the same way. They felt that it killed the suspence. These are casuals who did not know of the previous movies. The consensus as a whole was that the acting and sets and atmosphere was good but the story failed to connect. Too much times spent in scenes that kept going on and on especially with the girl. Too much time on the girl lamenting and torturing. Orloff was the best part but we didn't see enough of him. Compare to Eggers' The Witch where there are scenes of pain to people but it doesn't overstayed its welcome.

I see Tom is still trying to act like he always hated The Batman. He himself said he was "all on board" with the movie until Catwoman's anti-white comment halfway through the film. Later, someone else on the panel pointed out some other implied wokeness in the film. It wasn't until after that point that Tom began to hate the movie with the heat of a thousand suns.
@finalmidnight
@finalmidnight 28 күн бұрын
I think he hates it more because he was suffering from Hypnosis and the spell was broken. Tom really wanted to like the film, and was looking for good things about it. After the preconceptions fade ... The Batman turns out to be just okay with some strong woke messaging.

@@finalmidnight During his own, original review of the film, Tom said he was "all on board" with the movie --his own words. According to Tom, he didn't even start to question the movie until the "rich, white" comment. That comment comes halfway through the film. Additionally, he was still not strongly against the movie until....I think it was either Mexican Iron Man or Latino Slant....pointed out some other implied woke element. I don't think this even happened until a later podcast. The point is, Tom didn't hate the movie until later. The fact of the matter is, Andre' and Tom wanted Affleck back in the role and refused to admit Affleck had walked away looooooong before Reeves had even started lensing The Batman. Their pining over Affleck has now manifested itself into them being against Reeves and Pattinson, and they take solace in the wish that the sequel will never happen.

I vividly remember Tom saying he almost got kicked out of the theatre because he started screaming at Pattinson for being too stupid to see how Riddler was playing him. Tom's unhinged, but I think he hated The Batman as soon as he saw it.

Watched the '70's Nosferatu a few days ago. It's like a trimmed down, copyright free version of Dracula. Some parts of it really worked, others not so much. Loved the gothic atmosphere and the camera work, but the count came accross as a goofball at times, who made me laugh out loud. And I didn't get the ending, where the dude turns into a vampire, and the final shot is him riding a horse in broad daylight accross the dessert? So, it was a mixed bag for me, but far, far, better than FFC's "Bram Stoker's Dracula", which is terrible, despite often being lauded as a "book accurate version." (It really wasn't, it didn't capture the feel of the book at all.)

I saw the Herzog version back in '79 the week it came out. Re-watched it in the 90s, then revisited it once again about 3 years ago. My major complaint has not changed since 1979: The Kinski Orlok is simply too human in appearance, compared to Max Shreck or even Willem Dafoe. This includes the body-language. I dig the film, but Herzog opted to be a little bit too austere and visually subdued in some of his visual choices

Nosferatu in my city is only showing in 2 sessions on 2 small-time arthouse cinemas, no IMAX, no actual atmos or anything, because people here think arthouse films don't need it, and should be shown in flycircus shitty cinemas. I'll just wait for the blu-ray and watch it on my home theater, it will be a much better experience.

One scene in Lower Decks (the comedy piss take show) means all this corporate intrigue hinting that maybe, finally, Kurtsman will leave? Sorry, that is pure copium. Maybe Kurtsman will move in with Kennedy when she finally leaves Star Wars any day now as well.

Actually there was 4 time lines if you include the prequel comic book that was cannon at the time to the first Calvin timeline Movie. It introduced B4 now with all of Data's memories intact after the download of them from Data before his death. Somehow he became conscious as Data and by this time was the Captain of the Enterprise E and was trying to help Spock stop Nero.

The first two season of what we do in the shadows were first rate & totally worth a watch, absolutely hilarious. But S03 was peak woke & jumped the ship and made the chick the centre of everything and it turned into a “let’s disparage men” fest. I should have known when Mark Hamil showed up it was in trouble. So disappointing. I will give S04 a go but if I see no change in the first one it’s a hard no.
