Discard conditions are tricky. If I recall other than the action itself, the only thing that triggers it are Tick Tock and Mim''s Battle of Wits. Things like Scrying and Divination that discard from deck, or Vanquish actions which use the term "discard" on allies don't count
@theabsentfriend40022 жыл бұрын
Are you sure about that?? The card says “discards two or more cards” it doesn’t say how or why. I take that as anytime cards are discarded Evil Queen Tomes, Yzma smash it with a hammer, Lotso searching for a hero (discard the rest), Syndrome (same thing), and many many others!!

@@theabsentfriend4002 Sadly I'm sure. Aaron Dunough, one of the Prospero Hall designers clarified Desperation and Pride via Twitter. Why they didn't just add the words "from hand" is anyone's guess. 1. It counts any cards discarded from hand, by any means, including card effects. In other words, the cards do not have to be discarded via the Discard Cards action to count. However, moving cards from your realm to your discard pile (e.g., allies used to vanquish a hero) does not count. 2. Playing an effect card does not count as discarding that card, for the purposes of triggering Desperation, even though the effect card does come from hand and end up in the discard pile. 3. It does not have to be a single instance of discarding two or more cards. It could be two separate instances of discarding a single card, as long as they both occur within the same turn. Oh, and Tremaine's Lucifer is by far the worst as far as wording vs intention.

@@ericlager4512 So I never figured they meant playing effects or vanquishing, but I figured things like Be Prepared, The Tomes, Smash it the a hammer, etc would qualify as they the cards themselves say to “discard the rest” or something like that. I’d love to have a discussion with these creators to get to the bottom of it cause even that Twitter post is vague.

Love the voodoo cajun flavour of this guy.

Yeah, I wish they had kept the side plot of Dr. Facilier being a student of Mama Odie.

Gaston is pretty damn charismatic. Had the whole town on his side.

Charismatic, yes. But he always reminds me of the super buff guys that the girls always swoon over in those 80s movies where the buff dude is the son of a really rich guy who is about to close down the town youth center for no reason.

I love that play. I like to start it at the Parade though. More utility on the location, and the Cane is easily moved into place for the endgame.

@@ericlager4512 interesting, but moving it can alert other players on what you’re about to do. If you keep it at Voodoo Emp, they will never know when it will happen!

Niche use for JuJu, hitting a Frog Form or Masked Spirits. (If the opponent leaves them unguarded)

Not bad, but I still say the Cane should be top priority, then illusion powder, but if neither of those are available, and the other fate card sucks, getting masked spirits or frog form would be acceptable. Any excuse to clog the fortune pile.

When using Almost There, should you put Rule New Orleans in the fortune pile if it shows up?

So do you have to play “The Cards will Tell” in order to win when you have the talisman and Rule New Orleans?

@@chaselove4209 Yes, after Rule NO is in your fortune pile, you play Cards will Tell and if you randomly draw the Rule NO card from the fortune pile, you win!

Love this villain. But he can be tricky to get your head around. Once you get him he can move really fast. If you see the Talisman, FATE THIS GUY relentlessly.

@@GoldenSandslash15 Well, it comes from a friend of mine. She is very funny lady and when the Princess and the Frog came out, her daughter loved it and watched it all the time.
