It was definitely trying to juxtapose the cuteness of the chicks with the terror of the character about to be torn apart by them. I think it was an attempt at some kind of dark humor lol but...yeah...sort of odd. I guess my point is, it was both cute (the chicks themselves) and disturbing, I guess the cuteness somehow makes it worse. It's all about perspective, I guess. Bambi II May have been one of Disney’s direct to DVD sequels, but it along with with lion king II had a really good animation team which most sequels didn’t have. If both had a bigger budget they could’ve been even better.

The Firebird wasn't really defeated. In fact, I'd say it won. Right before it disappears, it SWALLOWS the Sprite and nearly kills her. She does undo all it's work of destruction just as it undid hers, but it still did what it was meant to do
