I haven't stayed at Wilderness Lodge, but I did stay at AKL once in a savanna view room and boy oh boy... just sitting on the balcony in the evening or early morning and enjoying the quiet and watching the animals was totally worth it! Plus, BOMA! I'd go to Boma JUST FOR THE SOUP! Yes, soup! We had a rental car so that helped too, I can see how transportation can be an issue. I fell in LOVE with AKL on that trip!

As someone who lives in the PNW I always think its very weird that WL is supposed to be themed like the area here lol. It is more like western themed. I don't think anyone here really considers Wyoming (Yellowstone) to be the PNW LOL

i just got back from a two week stay at animal kingdom lodge and was worried bc of the transportation i’d heard was bad but it was fine! the bus ride to mk doesn’t feel long at all and we always got a seat and never had to wait for another bus! loved it x

I've stayed in animal kingdom lodge twice and it's fantastic and great that I could enjoy a cup of coffee in the morning and look out and see the animal's in a very relaxing peace. Plus it's close to animal kingdom

Wilderness Lodge for me. In August of 2020 we enjoyed a 10 night resort only trip. It was our most magical vacation ever!

Taking my daughter and grandkids to Disney World in June 2022. And since we are from the Pacific NW and have been in many log cabins in the wilderness, we are booked at Animal Kingdom with a savanna view! It does look to be a much longer bus ride to the parks, we are excited to see the animals out our windows! I’ll try to leave a review here when I get back.

We stayed at Copper Creek at Wilderness Lodge last trip and loved it! It was so nice, but not fancy like Grand Floridian. I loved the location and we ate at Geyser Point and Whispering Canyon. Geyser Point was a casual place overlooking the lake, very nice atmosphere. Whispering Canyon was great for breakfast, but the BBQ for dinner was just ok (especially if you are used to really good BBQ). Haven't stayed at AK, but we have eaten at BOMA twice and I know I'm in the minority, but we were not impressed with it. It was ok, but I don't get all the hoopla over it. I would like to try Sanaa sometime though. And yes, it is pretty far out there compared to the other resorts. Personally, I'd pick Wilderness Lodge definitely!

It's AKL all the way for me. We own DVC at AKL, but have stayed at both lodges. While Wilderness Lodge is beautiful, I did not love the Copper Creek studio we stayed in, and the pool was always crazy busy. AKL is just magical. The restaurants are all amazing, the pools have an oasis vibe, the art and activities are fantastic, and the ANIMALS!

Animal Kingdom Lodge is my bucket list WDW resort, but Wilderness Lodge holds a special place in my heart. I stayed there with my parents on every family trip we took, and there’s something so comforting about it. It’s a massive resort, but it’s so warm and inviting.

Animal kingdom lodge for sure!! Haven't stayed at Wilderness lodge but the scenery there is more like home so on vacation I want to stay somewhere with palm trees!

We were so fortunate to be able to stay at both of these awesome resorts on our last trip in January! We were only at AKL for the last night of our 7 night stay, but I have to say it blew us away! Though both were gorgeous, AKL edged out Wilderness Lodge for us because of it’s theming and in our opinion, it has the best dining options in all of WDW.

These are two of my favorite resorts, but I'd have to nudge AKL above Wilderness Lodge. The standard rooms at Wilderness Lodge are a little bit smaller than other deluxe resorts and AKL is just magical. Kidani is like a little hidden gem on property.

I love these. Can you do pop century vs Caribbean beach? They’re so close to each other but I’m not sure Caribbean is worth the extra cost!

Love both, have dvc in both, but gotta pick Wilderness due to lake and boats. Both have great food, pools and lobby! The only reason I pick Wilderness is location.

The only things we would go back to WL for is Geyser Point and the boat transportation. Not enough for us I’m afraid. AKL all the way!! Even the service standards we experienced at AKL are far higher than WL. Much more welcoming atmosphere, the cast members are incredible. The safari views are incredible!

So this is a tough one. Both are out of the way and have transportation issues. Both have incredible views and atmosphere. But I do believe then that it comes down to food (Molly gives the best food reviews...no shame... which is awesome) ...Animal Kingdom wins now that Jiko is open along with the other amazing places to eat like Boma and Sanaa!

I love WL. Artist point used to be one of my favs, before they changed it to characters. Whispering Canyon was eh. not that great. loved the Territory lounge and Geyser point is good. club level was nice. the same designer is the same that did AKL. which is where I now own DVC. Jiko is great. Boma also. and nice savannah room views.

This is always a tough decision. I like the Pacific Northwest theming of Disney's Wilderness Lodge but I also love how there are animals right outside your room at Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge. I am calling it a draw.

We stayed @Animal Kingdom Lodge, Savannah view for 4 days in December. We felt it was very overpriced & so far away from the parks. It's not going to be a repeat resort for our crew.

Uhmm.. it doesn’t get cold in central Florida? Yes it does! And we are coming from the North climate lol. We have been there during December to March many times and OFTEN it’s been cold, like winter jacket and hat cold. So I definitely appreciate the fireplace at both these resorts during the winter months . I agree that the ambiance at WL can’t be beat at Christmas!

I agree! Both lodges are stunningly beautiful, and Animal Kingdom Lodge does have a savanna, but transportation matters most when it comes to a WDW vacation.

Mentioned this above, but resorts w/ best location are the Yacht, Beach, Boardwalk. You can walk (or take a boat) to Epcot & HS. That's HUGE! On days your going to AK or MK, just take a Lyft. Runners up on best location would be the MK resorts (minus Wilderness Lodge) b/c the other 3 you can use the Monorail to get to Epcot and walk to MK.

Stayed at both for multiple days. Wilderness Lodge all the way, I cannot see the attraction to the Animal Kingdom lodge at all. Similar construction, but really misses the mark. AKL uses the words "inspired by" a lot because there's no direct references that can be used for anything marketable I guess. I can think of a dozen ways to improve it but I'm not a Disney exec. I walked around AKL and Kidiani for the 2 days I was there, saw everything, was quite bored and eager to board Magical Express back to the airport. By contrast, I'm writing this from a home office I've decorated to be a replica of the Wilderness Lodge. ( wasn't cheap! ) THAT is how inspiring WL is.
