I believe that once everything opens back up internationally, everyone who wanted to got to WDW in 2020 and 2021 came and went, and the 50th is over, many people will be going to places like Europe instead because it’s cheaper than Disney! And once Universal opens Epic Universe in 2025, that will be it. Disney will finally have to start lowering prices if they want us to return.

We stayed in the deluxe suite for a few nights for the Halloween bash and it was very lovely, posh and yes expensive. However you get what you pay for we were very comfortable with 4 people 2 adults, teenager and toddler. Small issue with AC but cast member was very kind at adding a special magic bonus. Dinner at topolino’s doesn’t have characters but they have fireworks to view on the outside sitting area. The food was very good and service was great also, I’d say bucket list if you can make it

We stayed in one of those teeny rooms last spring! We were lucky enough to find it for really cheap (even the cast member on the call was shocked how low it was). Ours was right on ground level with a patio that walked right out to the skyliner. We had so much fun in it and love the Riviera!!

I'm just wondering why pay 450+ a night....for a family 700+ a night when you can get a 4 or 5 bedroom home a few minutes from Disney for $150 or $175/night and sometimes these homes have private pools. I recently priced a vacation for the end of the year. Staying at the value resort was $7000 for the week. off site just a few miles away from the parks with a private pool was $1700 for the week. That's a HUGE difference.

Yep that's the smarter way to do it and so much lower cost. You're still faced with the same situations that you would have staying at a resort including transportation and food cost. And that doesn't even include upgrades like Genie Plus and any knickknacks. So is so much better to rent a whole house just a little ways away and save all that money.

We stayed in a deluxe studio there last December and absolutely loved it! We’ve toured the tower studio and would stay in one during a short stay for two, if we could even get a room, since it’s not our home DVC resort. Though limited, food options are delicious, fireworks (from standard rooms on the north/west side) and south-facing (preferred) views are amazing, and connected Skyliner access and dedicated bus service are super convenient. Pools and other amenities, along with the service, are also great. We can’t wait to visit the Riviera Resort again!

My hubby and I stayed in one of the tower rooms, we spend our time in the parks and not in the rooms. We had no problem with it. The bed was very comfortable, the view was great, we could see fireworks from two parks and it was out of the way of everyone. Now,....if you are messy and throw your stuff around, this would not be a good choice. As long as you stay organized it is all good. Having said that, if you are on a longer trip, (more than a week) it may not be the best choice because of the amount of "stuff" you bring.

I'm staying here next month for 5 nights as part of a 10 night split resort stay. The other 5 nights are at Coronado Springs in the Gran Destino Tower. We ate at Topolino's last September and fell in love with Riviera. Looking forward to our stay!

I'd like to see the itinerary of the European vacations some people here are talking about that are cheaper than a stay at Riviera. Yes, this an expensive hotel, but so are hotels of this caliber in Europe, especially Western Europe. Flights are generally a lot more expensive from anywhere in the US to France than to Florida (although I have twice gotten $400 r/t flights to Paris on budget airlines!) Meals in top restaurants are very pricy in Europe, as are activities. The point is, both WDW and European vacations come in a multitude of budgets, and neither place is cheap. But if you're really comparing Riviera, Topolino's, etc. with similar quality in France or Italy, I'd like to see how the latter would be cheaper.

There was a recent article on SFGate about how you could fly to Paris and stay a week at Disneyland Paris Hotel Santa Fe and the flight, hotel and tickets for six nights was cheaper than staying at the Paradise Pier with tickets at DL in Anaheim (transportation to Anaheim not included). I agree with you. I am going to Europe later on this summer, and honestly, it’s not really fair to compare every single vacation here to one in Europe. The prices vary on both sides. Flights are crazy expensive, and hotels and restaurants are too. Not to mention activities. At least at this place, the activities are included if someone just wanted to stay at the resort. I’m just saying, I mean it’s expensive, but so is Europe. PS: I would rather go to Paris than California. lol. Paris is beautiful, I’ve been there twice.

My wife and I stayed in a Tower Studio room in December. While it was small, for just the two of us it wasn't too small. We did not feel claustrophobic in the least. Even though we are DVC owners, we paid cash for our 5-night stay. We both really wanted to try the Riviera and were not disappointed! The Tower Studio room was about half the price of a Deluxe Studio, so it was in our budget. Plus, we love the Disney skyliner. We would definitely stay at Riviera again!

The tower studios were a demand by DVC members to have a low cost (yeah I know) alternative for short stays. Making it sound like the Riviera has the smallest rooms of all the resorts is just false information and you should feel bad. We've stayed in the 1 br (our usual choice) and the grand villa. Both are comparable to larger then many of the other resorts. As for price, well every resort price has gone up and its why we are happy to be DVC owners.

True. Not clear why they only talked about the size of the tower studios. The regular studios are 424 sf, the second largest of any DVC property. The other size rooms are all in the top three. Only the tower studios are smaller than others.

@@4legs4paws55 so for me, I like how Riviera is compact so I can get to the restaurant without a long walk. I like that it's got a second fork of transportation rather than the bus. Walkable to carribean beach for more food options. We are a family of 4 so won't be using the studios so for us, it's absolutely worth it. If only using studios then I can see the turn off.

@@b00kbug maybe I am a bit spoiled - coming from Europe - even if we ignore the Disney tax. This hotel looks basic & rather cheap to me - like a 70s mass hotel bunker in Spain. But I am happy you like it and it suits you needs. I would be very disappointed if I paid 500€ a night for a hotel which looks like a Spanish mass tourism hotel at the outside and has city hotel vibes on the inside… but tastes are different and I do not have to stay there.

We went to breakfast at Topolono’s and were made to wait down stairs until 10 mins before our reservation. The down stairs area is extremely small for a resort with small hallways. People were crabby because there wasn’t enough room and people were in each other’s way. It made for a very bad experience.

That is REALLY odd. What time was your ressie? We went on a weekend at 10:30 AM back in January and went straight upstairs and waited in the area across from the restaurant to the north of the elevators in the same hallway that turns right and heads down towards the restrooms. Massive waiting area by comparison with many other top notch/high demand Disney restaurants. The place was jammed as well and they were doing the best to turn tables but it was a packed house.

I almost stayed here in March of 2020. Using a Disney card I was offered 45% off a 1 bedroom. Sadly, that was foiled by the pandemic. If that was offered again, I might bite.

Thanks for another great update AJ. I not been since 2016 but the price difference from a LBV area hotel with free breakfast and transfers to staying in a Disney hotel isn’t worth it when they only offering EMH in the morning for 30 mins at all resorts and 2 hrs evening hours at Deluxe hotels. I wouldn’t even mind paying for the genie + if they bought back to free Dinning plan for 2023 or 24 holidays as to that back I won’t be staying on site.

Not for nothing but these aren’t really meant for cash stays. This is a DVC resort. The better bet is to rent DVC points to stay and you’ll save half of what you would paying Disney directly. If you can get it. This resort is highly coveted by DVC members and books up quick.

I love the Riviera, it’s my favorite. I had the opportunity to stay in the tower studio for my birthday in 2021. It was just me and 10 year old daughter. It was so convenient to get to the parks for us. Also caught it at a great deal when park attendance was low. I only paid $285 each night. I like the chic/adult feel of this hotel, but I'd never stay there unless winning a giveaway or someone else is paying. A one night hotel room that costs as much as (or more depending) my rent a month... But it's in Orlando? No way. I'll go back to Europe for that and stay for while. Geneva, Switzerland is a beautiful (and rich 🤑 city), and I'd rather go back there. If I was in Orlando and at Epcot, I might visit for the bar or the grounds, but probably not.

We just got home from Caribbean Beach. It was excellent! The Skyliner/Gondola was so convenient. If you’re staying at the riviera and going to Hollywood Studios, you’ll have to ride to Caribbean beach, get off and get on a different gondola. We stayed in the deluxe room and although it was cute, it was too small for a teen, and too high of the ground for a smaller kiddo. Basically it wasn’t ideal. We ended up upping the mattress on the floor for our teen.

I believe, if one buys a DVC contract on the resale market instead of directly from Disney and their home resort is not Riviera then they can not use their points to stay at Riviera.

We stayed here a few weeks ago for the first time. It was VERY expensive! We had the deluxe room and although it was nice (except for the shower not working the first night we got in), we felt it was not worth the price. The hotel itself was amazing, the food at the restaurants are great and service all around top notch. It was just not there in the value for the money. We’ve done Yacht & Beach Club, Animal Kingdom Lodge and Contemporary (before the re-theming) and felt that at least the Contemporary and AK lodge were much more were the price tag.

One time, we had to stay at the Disney Springs-area Best Western, to stay close to I-Drive for an off-property convention, and staying at a single old-school pre-Disney major-brand hotel was a shock at how BIG the rooms were in comparison to the on-property bulk-built hotels built during the Eisner and Chapek eras I can only imagine the size of the Swan & Dolphin rooms.

We stayed at RR in February. it was meh for us. The building appeared cramped. Small rooms, narrow hallways, low ceilings, cramped lounge when we checked in. What is with that narrow stairway between the first and second floor?. I didn't feel comfortable. We stayed in a deluxe studio with a preferred view. Would I do it again? No. When we arrived something happened and police were everywhere. Someone was arrested in the lobby. It was 4:30 and the room was not ready. Someone spilled water on the bed before we checked in and there was a huge wet spot on the bed. Horrible stay. Nope, not again.

I stayed her for a few days last year for a girls trip. We stayed in a two bedroom Villa and it was beautiful. However, I would never stay here on my own. I found the pool and the property to be small and it just didn’t “wow” me like the other deluxe do. Access to the sky liner was cool but I just don’t think the price point was worth it. It all is all just kind of bland to me but I think they were going for more fancy and less Disney centered. Just my opinion! For the money, I would rather stay at beach club or poly :)
