Also last year we let our daughter pick two pearls and have them set as earrings and put them in a safe with the thought of giving them to her on her wedding day with the pictures.

Hate for a midday break? Weird. WDW is exhausting. Just being around that many people can be too much. Very weird.
@dwood23426 жыл бұрын
AHHH, THE MIDDAY BREAK: We go every year and take MDBs every single day that we are there, and here is why WE do it. THE PLAN: Get to the park (either one) as soon as it opens, and enjoy short lines and more ride time. Then about noon, leave. Yep! leave leave leave the park....until about 5pm then go back to the park of your choice until it closes. You see, when the park is opening, people with more than one small child are usually still in the room, trying to wake up the kids, who are completely exhausted from the day before. By the time they get them up, get them dressed. and get to the resort dining hall for breakfast, (trying to get a tired kid to eat takes a while) then sit in the long bus lines with all of the other parents, it is 11-noon before most of them GET to the park. The buses at this time are basically empty on the return trip to the resorts, so there isn't much waiting for you. Enjoy the pool or tour the resort, and be glad that you're not waiting in a 2+ hour line for the Jungle Cruise or Big Thunder Mountain. While people are wringing with sweat, waiting in line, and getting bored, you are kicked back in an awesome pool in the heat of the day with your kids, before grabbing a relaxing dining hall resort lunch, or exploring and taking family pics with the resort decor. Then about 5pm, it is time to head to the bus lane for part 2 of your day at the selected park. There are a few people in the bus line, but you will probably get on the first bus that arrives. You get to the park and use a FastPass, or go see a show, then, without rushing get to a good ride enjoy the sights, smells and sounds that IS Walt Disney World. By now as you are standing in line, you will notice that the park is a little louder than it was at 10am. ( I have pics of us in Tomorrowland and only 3 people are behind us in the shot)... it's the tired kids that got there at noon. They slept hard last night, but not long enough, and are now getting fussy. Parents are starting to lose their patience with them while trying to keep the kids tame just long enough to get through the fireworks show. If they make it, it will be about 9:45- 10pm when it is over, and the massive flow of people are headed for the gate, and into the bus queue where it will take them an hour to get on a bus at this point. Meanwhile, we are refreshed, feet are feeling good, and we are enjoying everything in the back of the park away from the sea pf people that are heading out. After about an hour or so the park is really getting empty, and all rides can be ridden multiple times while waiting only about 5 - 15 minutes for each one. Even better if it is Extra Magic Hours. I promise you, you will ride 5X more rides in the first 2 hours of park opening and the last 2 hours before it closes than most people will ride all day who are trying to fit it all in. ...Not only is a MIDDAY BREAK AWESOME... IT'S THE ONLY WAY TO DO DISNEY.

Hi Blair I’m new to your channel, for sure loving your Disney videos! Really helps fill the void of not being at Disney anymore. Just wanted to say that as a former Disney Cast Member, taking breaks is the smartest thing people can do in Disney! I worked in the parks and the resorts and I can’t tell you how many families I’ve seen be completely exhausted after not taking breaks during their trip. Please don’t let anybody make you feel bad about this it is such a necessity for a Disney trip. Totally a cast member approved tip! Lol have a wonderful day. Keep the Disney videos coming!

Just discovered your vlogs and I love them! Thanks for putting all this amazing info together for us! 🙌🏼 I have to say, I’m actually super encouraged by your transparency regarding chronic pain + the need to take breaks during a Disney vacation. I suffer from Plantar Fasciitis and the pain I experienced in my last three Disney trips was INSANE! It was mostly my fault because I pushed myself too much thinking that that was the only way to enjoy the parks. Looking back, I feel like I would have had a much more enjoyable vacation for myself and my loved ones if I had been wise enough to know when to pause. I will DEFINITELY be doing the breaks next time! Thanks for your honesty and for sharing your stories with us! God bless you and your hubs!

We always take a midday break!! The reason being we love Disney so much we like to have triple the fun.. park at rope drop by lunch we’ve done most things planned so we have a nice lunch then back to the hotel for a lounge by the pool whilst the kids have more fun.. come the early evening we are fully refreshed and back to another park where we are looking fresh faced and walk in whilst tired children and frazzled parents are just leaving the park .. we now have about three four hours of park rides and strolling and taking in evening atmosphere.. completely love it . It’s honestly like three days in one.. can’t understand anyone who thinks spending a whole day is good use of time and certainly can’t believe you’d get hate comments for thinking like we do! Suppose it’s everyone’s choice.

Thats crazy people gave you flack for going back to rest midday at your resort. On our first trip to Disney in 2010, we stayed in the parks from opening to closing. I did a mini trip report on one of the popular disney message boards and people were suggesting that I take a mini break in the afternoon...then go back to the park in the evening refreshed. Now, that is the only way we do it. I need that break midday, we usually go back and swim or just sit by the pool. I enjoyed the vlogs, thanks for sharing!

To possibly provide some context to the break backlash - I know that as somebody who doesn't take breaks (and is also binge-watching as a newcomer to this channel so it's all fresh in my mind) there was a part in a previous video where Blair made a lengthier comment about the necessity of breaks and really seemed to be emphasizing that nobody could possibly go all day without a break, it's not possible to go from park opening to fireworks, people don't do that, etc...it stuck out to me because, like I already mentioned, as someone who DOES commando tour all day it felt just the tiniest bit harsh towards how I approach the parks. Now obviously the internet can also just be a horrible place and people think the anonymity means they can just say whatever hurtful things that they want and that's not at all what I'm referring to or supporting in any way and I definitely didn't think she was being spiteful or something...I only bet that that's what triggered a marked response from people because, while it would certainly never motivate me to be mean to anybody, (especially not somebody being so generous with their time to bring us along on a WDW trip!) it did make me feel a bit, "Ouch...surely I'm not the only one who does that? Surely there's no 'right' way to enjoy the parks?" But all of that nonsense aside - wonderful vlogs!!!

I was just saying to my husband last night, I have so many things I want to do and see, but I have to also take in consideration we are traveling with a large family, but this is the first trip for my twin boys who will be 7 at that time. One of my boys is autistic and non verbal, so our schedule maybe different depending on how he is and what he can tolerate at that time. But this is great to get an idea of what changes may occur and that even the most carefully laid out plans sometimes just don't work. Hi Blair! Love these videos!! So informative and sounds like you plan like I do...very early and all the details taken care of in advance! I am in the process of planning second trip to WDW in Jan of 2019. I heard u make a suggestion for AK day. We plan on getting FP for flight of passage, Navi river, and Kilimanjaro safari... however 3 being the limit that leaves us with no FP for exp Everest. If we arrive at rope drop what are our chances of riding Everest firts thing in the morning without a FP? Thanks again , love your videos!! Ever stayed at Animal kingdom Lodge?

Hi Blair! I kept hearing you say that you had picked three fast passes - is that per person or per group/family??

Per person!

It's so insensitive of people to make those rude comments. I get the same ones when I need to sit often or when I physically have to slow down. No one understands pain until they live through it. Keep doing you, I love the content.

I agree--we each should mind our own business and do what we want on our vacations! 😉

I literally don’t understand why people would have a problem with it. You shouldn’t even need to justify why you need to take a break since it’s your holiday not there. Every time we’ve gone to Florida we’ve always spent half the day in the park, gone back to the hotel for a bit then either gone back to the park or gone shopping

How absurd people behave towards others is something I think is a growing issue (hiding behind a keyboard especially) but if you wouldn’t want someone saying the things your saying to someone you love you shouldn’t be saying it to anyone else. Rant over lol thanks for another fun video, we are going in September with our three kids this will be our 6th trip and our first time staying at beach club. I never tire of good Disney vlogs.

Ok, i watched this whole thing and couldn’t wait to write a comment. I can’t believe you got hate for taking a break. So ridiculous! I’m curious. What would you say is the best way to determine if the dining plan is the best thing for you? I got a free dining plan with our reservation..just one free quick service meal a day per person, but I’m trying to figure out if i should get another one too. And i don’t know of the quick service places cause we’ve never been and this will be our first time there! Any tips?

Where did you get your pearl setting necklace?

I got it at the pick-a-pearl counter.

I don’t get the hate for “mid day breaks”. Everyone and their mothers recommend it so you can relax and enjoy and avoid not being able to walk on the 3rd day you’re there. I have a question if you don’t mind, I’m planning my trip with my sister (first ever) and I’m torn on magic hours. We don’t have park hopper tickets so it’s one park a day (we are staying on site though) and some people say to take advantage and others say to avoid... what’s your opinion? Thanks and can’t wait to see part 2! I really enjoy the vlogs but it’s nice to hear a review with a little hindsight

Why would anyone make bad comments on your decision to take breaks. We do it too and it’s the best idea ever !!!!

I can't imagine getting hate for taking afternoon breaks on your Disney vacay, lol. I don't have scoliosis but I do have two kids, and we learned the hard way that breaks like the ones you and Rielly take are NECESSARY for a fun vacation. Thank you for the info. Very helpful.

We have done dining plan before and despite the fantastic ease of the program, felt that it was just too much food and we felt we had to plan a lot of our day around food...what are your thoughts on the DDP?
@BlairLamb7 жыл бұрын
We love food so, so much, so we really, truly enjoy the dining plan. It is definitely a lot of food. Food is a top highlight of every Disney trip for us, but if you'd rather focus more time on the attractions, it may not make as much sense. I'm thinking about a video specifically talking about the DDP because so many people have asked about it!

Blair Lamb Yeah, I think with an 11 and 6 year old we tend to focus on the rides...maybe an adult trip will allow us to take in more of afood and drink aspect as well! Enjoyed the daily vlog.
