America Sings was an attraction at Disneyland in Anaheim, California, USA, from 1974 to 1988. It featured a cast of audio-animatronics animals that entertained the audience by singing songs from various periods in America's musical history, often in a humorous fashion.

This was my Grandma's favorite ride. When she remembered this ride she started to burst into tears because she would ride it all the time. It was sad to see my Nana cry. She has a special bond with Disneyland because thats where she went for her honeymoon and this year we took my grandparents and my entire family to Disneyland for their 60th wedding anniversary. So my grandparents have been married since Disneyland has opened, so my grandma has a special bond with the park. Sorry this was so long but if you reached the end of this comment thank you.

I wish they still had this ride. Never been on it but I want them to bring it back. I wrote a letter to Disney Imagineering and they replied saying ''We love your idea of bringing a extinct attraction back to the park but we can't take ideas outside the company.'' They were really nice about it. Hopefully they are working on it right now.

Actually, the ride went on for many years after the accident and the buildings walls were modified to break away, so it wouldn't happen again. It closed from lack of riders and there was a plan for a new show not related to America Sings but they shelved the idea after gutting the ride for Splash Mountain and Star Tours.

Negan Lanciani It’s so sad... 😔💔 (What’s also sad and very sick is that there’s sick people out there who think there were recordings from the show the day she got crushed and they could hear her screaming during one of the songs on the ride. (Which, as far as I know, that day when it happened was never recorded. ) It’s sick and disgusting how people would even want to hear something like that and make FAKE sick videos of the show, adding a fake stock used scream in there wanting you to think it’s Debbie screaming. (It’s VERY sick, sad, gross, and very disrespectful of people making those very sick in the head types of videos about her like that revolving around her tragic accident just for their own sick amusement just trying to get attention and views.

I was a cast member in 1988 when it closed and I rode it the last week of its existence -- I remember crying at the end when they played Auld Lang Syne as I remembered back to the first time I rode in in 1976 aged 10 for a special field trip DL had for local grade schools to see "patriotic" attractions for the US Bicentennial; it was also my first exposure to barbershop quartet singing which I did in high-school. I also have memories of seeing Carousel of Progress before it was America Sings. I can remember waling up into the last state to exit up the moving ramp to see the model of the city of the future. That's why there's a second level to the building -- to move exiting crowds along another path to keep the loading area open.

This was and will always be my favorite attraction. I remember going on it since the first year it was opened. I liked it better than Bear Country Jamboree. It’s the attraction I miss the most. I think the main reason I like Splash Mountain is due to the fact that I recognize most of the characters there from here. It brings back happy memories. Unfortunately, I think their days maybe numbered since they are over 40 years old and I have a feeling DL will be modeling the Splash Mountain characters the same as the ones in the WDW Splash Mountain.

Why would you take out such an incredible ride? I mean, yes, someone did die in it, but THATS NOT EVEN THE REASON IT CLOSED DOWN! such a charming ride, wasted. I would love the see a revamped version of this, with better animatronics and stuff. The ride was like a classic Disney movie YOU could experience. Disney really REALLY succeeded here, and the feels and the music and the characters and everything about it... just beautiful in my opinion. Just another wonderful attraction Disney tore down to replace with a singing snowman and a cowboy doll.

America Sings was torn out, not down. After around a decade of sitting empty, it was turned into Innoventions, and is currently a Star Wars exhibit. So WTF is this about Olaf and Woody? Most everything dealing with Pixar is at DCA. There’s the Buzz Lightyear ride on the other side of Tomorrowland, and in 1996 there was a Toy Story Funhouse next to Space Mountain, but unless you’re talking about some temporary exhibit in Innoventions, you’re just making that up.

One of the best attractions Disney ever did. The idea to help tell America's story through its music was BRILLIANT, and the choice and performances of American popular songs were outstanding. I'm thinking that it might be hard for young people to appreciate: Popular music today is so tuneless and transient. Burl Ives was perfectly cast as Sam the Eagle. And the Richard Nixon-esque voice of the Vulture Undertaker is hilarious.

I HAVE to go into Disney stores when I can find them, just for that smell!!! OH AND ITS A SMALL WORLD!!!!! I could sit on just go around and around and around on that one!!!! even today at like 50. The part that makes me feel most awkward after learning about the beginning of the popular song culture in America was that the oldest popular songs that can be tracked are songs that were written for blackface minstrels...

So sad that this is been closed... What this caused? Dabbie's death? Or the animatronic or they abandoned this?
@rosesske2551
@rosesske2551 6 жыл бұрын
dark forest There was at least three possible reasons it closed. The attraction was in Tomorrowland and didn’t fit the theme, America’s bi centennial (the event America Sings was built for) had long passed, the attraction was starting to become outdated and, Splash mountain needed animatronics and most of the ones in America sings fit the theme (since America sings and song of the south had the same artist for concept art). Debbie’s death had nothing to do with the ride closure. It was time to go for the attraction.
