My advice i always add for first timers is to soak it all in - the sounds, scenery, smells, details, and the pure joy of just being there. Look and feel every detail. ❤

I just went for my first time and I went for two days and the first day was a rush!! but I found that on the second day I was able to do this a lot easier. I know not everyone can do more than a one day trip, but I definitely felt more relaxed after the first day.

As someone who goes to Disneyland everyday at rope drop, this is pretty perfect guidance, especially the Fantasyland info. Some of my thoughts while watching: 1. I usually bring lots of bottled water, pre-made pp&j, bananas, and dried fruit snacks. Snacking on grapes and fruit in line kills time. 2. Along with Advil I bring a few small bottles of sanitizer, wipes and band-aids. Your body just gets sticky being there and kids touch everything. 3. Go there with the mindset that there's going to be a lot of people and that's just how the day is going to be. 4. Sunday morning rope drops are the best. 5. Find out right away on the app which rides are down that day. So no one gets let down at the last minute. 6. My kid and I often just stop and look around and take it all in and appreciate how fortunate we are to live so close by the park. And we think about all those families that take time from work and spend long hours planning their trip to CA and visiting the park. It's easy to get caught up in the chaos. 7. Appreciate you taking the time to make videos like thisChris.

Great overview, Chris! My tip is that as soon as anyone in our family starts getting cranky, everyone drinks water and we get a snack. I find most of the time we're just hangry or getting dehydrated. Also, let go of expectations. Disneyland is a nostalgic place, so we often want to try to recreate moments, or create a moment we've made up in our mind. You can't force the magic. Just let it happen organically. And embrace the fact that life still happens in the park.

As a long time Disneyland goer this video has great advice, I even learned a thing or two. My additional tips: 1) Take advantage of being able to bring your own food/drinks policy! You will be walking/standing and thirsty for water. Disneyland does not have great or affordable options, bring the stuff you enjoy! For eating, I have always enjoyed the Hungry Bear restaurant. 2) Afternoon the line queues are extremely long for the popular rides, so this is a good time to slow down, watch a show at The Golden Horseshoe or take a less busy rides like Pirates/Haunted Mansion/Jungle Cruise. 3) Late evenings or during Fantasmic/Parades can also be a great time to get on those popular rides as people are watching those and lines are shorter. 4) Watch your feet from getting on Splash Mountain

Chris, I was 16 the first time I came to Disneyland and ow I am 74. The magic is still there for me. I have been there maybe six times in the last 30 years. I am coming again in July and so looking forward to it. It will be entirely different from the "old" days, but change is always interesting. I'm bringing my daughter, son-in-law, and 3 teenage grandsons. We are very excited. Thanks for the tips. I am watching as many of your videos as I can.

So many good tips in this video! I’m not a Disneyland first timer but still learned a few things! My tip is if you see any merchandise you REALLY want, buy it right then and there. There have been multiple times where I saw something and thought “I’ll come back and buy that at the end of the night” and then I go back and it’s gone or they don’t have my size etc. If you don’t wanna carry it around all day, stick it in a locker! There are some in Disneyland and California Adventure and are only a few dollars to rent for the day. Main St does stay open an hour past closing for shopping so if you see something you like (not love), you can come back at the end of the night. But if it’s something you really want, don’t miss out! Things get snatched up quick!

With little kids - make sure to do the penny presses. Get a little coin book for them, bring some change with you and let them fill up the book with coins from the presses all over the park. It’s a souvenir that they’ll love, it’s not horribly expensive and it will give you a break from lines.

We had 3 Disneyland days a few weeks ago. We tried to catch Rise in the early evening after dinner - it broke down. We waited in line anyway, and it came back up! Then while we were still in line, it broke down again. Day 2, we tried to rope drop Rise. It was down at park opening, but we had no idea until we finished that long walk. Day 3, we tried to rope drop it again. Down again. We later saw it was a 30-minutes wait while we were at Hungry Bear - when we arrived, it was down again. We begrudgingly paid to ride it. I love your tips (even though you skipped the Teacups, even after riding Pinocchio), but I think rope dropping Rise is a HUGE mistake. It can save you 30-45 minutes in line, but you’re missing so make other rides that are normally busy that are walk-ons in the morning like Mansion, Big Thunder, Star Tours, and Buzz Lightyear. And it’s a big risk when it backfires - like it did for me both attempts.

Just went to Disney for the first time as a fully conscious young adult. My parents would take me when I was way younger but of course, all I can remember are glimpses of some of the rides we went on. Cause you know, people aren't fully conscious when super young. But anyways, watching this video was really cool seeing how much you can enjoy the park. This is definitely the WAY.

One tip I have for a first time going to Disneyland: Save shopping for the end of the day! A lot of bigger Disneyland attractions will not let you take anything when you're riding especially the headliner rides. The smaller rides with little ones, you can take things on with you. Thank you for doing this video Chris! You just gave me a great starting point for my future Disneyland vacations! When I went to Disneyland last year, I started in Fantasyland without knowing I had little ones with me. I know now to go left when I start my Disney experience now. As a long time PPP viewer, you have taught me a lot about Disney and I have gotten so much out of this channel. You continue to be my favorite Disney vlogger to this day! A video suggestion I have for you is how to do a solo day at Disneyland, I would like to see you do that video.

Oh yeah! Chris forgot to mention that Mainstreet is open an hour after the park closes so there is plenty of time to shop if you're willing and able to put in that full day. (So if it says park closes at 11pm, Mainstreet shops will be open till 12am).

Assuming you are staying near the Disneyland resort the night before going into the park, doing your souvenir shopping at Downtown Disney allows you to not have to spend park time on it and keep your goodies safe in your hotel room rather than lugging them around!

Mr. Ruzin If you heard what Chris was saying about rope drop? Get there earlier. If you are going to spend the day, especially in the winter when it's cool in the morning, then warms up, then gets chilly at sunset. Best money you can spend so you don't have to carry your warm clothes and goodies you may acquire through out the day, is get there an hour before rope drop, or earlier, and get yourself a locker. The lockers are halfway down main street to the side street, on the right, Where the fruit cart is at the end of the side street. You can rent the locker for your entire stay/day and open and close as often as you need, with the changes in the temperature, or to keep your new found treasure you bought, safe and out of your hands. Also a smart idea is to have a change of shirts in your locker, in case your ride on Splash Mountain gets you wetter than you are comfortable being, especially if its colder. Or rain gear if it is threatening. Have a good time. Wish I was going with you. There is only one thing at Disneyland that is better than being with someone who it is their first time at the House of the Mouse! The joy and wonder of first timers of all ages. Again, wish I was going with you. Uncle Martin wants to go with, haha.

Just FYI if you’re rope dropping raise don’t enter through critter country. It’s seems like it’s the way to go because it’s closer but the line for raise actually runs the opposite way so you’ll find yourself walking passed a bunch of people to get to the end of the line. Stage at the frontier land entrance and go through Frontierland. I’ll learned this lesson the hard way last time.

My advice is that if you feel you must ride It's A Small World, do it toward the end of the day, not at the beginning. That song is going to be running on a loop in your head until you go to sleep, so better to go closer to your bedtime, rather than have that song in there for 12 or 16 hours. It can drive you mad.

Little kids have a hard time waiting in line and just going on rides. In addition to naps, they need some breaks where they just run and play. Going to Pirate Lair at Tom Sawyer Island at Disneyland or Redwood Creek Challenge Trail in California Adventure really helps them get their wiggles out and reset for the rest of the day. Make sure to check the restaurant line in person before you do a mobile food app. Sometimes they give you a long wait time and it's actually just faster to order in person at the counter. Although if you're waiting in a long line for a ride anyway and can't leave, pre-ordering food with the app is the way to go. Stage Door Cafe has the best chicken tenders. I always confuse it with Golden Horseshoe, but Stage Door Cafe is the little place on the side of the building. I vote Dumbo after Peter Pan. It's a must go on and the line can get long early too. Eat lunch early or late to miss the crowds.

Hey Guys. I hope you can take time to address Disney's ticket pricing and how it affects seniors. My wife and I love Disneyland. I had the choice of Maui or Disneyland for my 65th birthday; staying at the Grand Californian, I chose Disneyland. Disney is slowly pricing us out. Now that we are both retired and living on fixed incomes, Going to Disneyland, at it new pricing, is keeping us from visiting. I wish they would set aside a few days each month where seniors could get betting ticket pricing. Your thoughts?

Just got back from our Disney vacation. We rope dropped 2 mornings at Disneyland and my suggestion would be this, DO NOT rope drop Rise of the Resistance. It took us about 75 minutes from start to finish. The best time I found to do Rise was a little before it closed. We went around 8:45 and were in and out in 45 minutes, even though it said a 60+ minute wait. If you insist on rope dropping Rise, my advice is DO NOT enter through CRITTER COUNTY. As the line for Rise builds during opening, it goes towards the Frontierland entrance. If you enter through Critter Country, you will have to walk past Rise's entrance and hundreds of people and get in line near the Frontierland entrance.

Went to Disneyland as of recent and didn't do it the full right way, such as the ways you do it. I only road space mountain, the train, marry go round, and jungle cruise. Of course the train was a fun and relaxing experience that I road twice. And jungle cruise & space mountain are some of the best rides there, but out of the whole day I only got to ride 4 rides. The only reason I road space mountain is because when it reopened, after someone threw up, there was no line, for a second. Wish I could've at least gone on Indiana Jones and pirates of the Caribbean as well. But next time, will be even better thanks to your videos

Great video. Very good tips that you gave for first timers. Another tip you should have brought up is what if you have someone with a disability and it's their first time about getting on rides as well as getting around Disneyland.

Hello! 👋🏼 Is there a guide for California Adventure, exactly like this one? I looked at other channels but your videos are very informative and I was hoping you had one but I didn’t see any. Btw, you’re doing such an awesome job! I love watching your channel and I became a subscriber. ☺️

I just got back from Disney. The state of splash mountain makes me sad. The gift shop is closed, most animatronics and water effects are broken, the paint is wearing off. They have totally given up on it and once TRON is finished, they will close and start the revamp on splash mountain. They are just waiting for the new E ticket attraction to open B4 closing it. And the way they have totally just got rid of the EPCOT over hall ideas is just sad. Disney is starting to care less and less about their parks, especially when it comes to the show buildings. It use to be almost impossible to find the show buildings, wether they were using bye bye blue or go away green to hide them, now (like the TRON show building) they are just out in the open. It’s like Bob Chapeck doesn’t care about the magical experience of Disney, but only cares about the money. Sad

It's really preference going right or left for first rides of the day. Both are good. Just depends on which ones you can't wait to go on! Both Indy and space, and the Matterhorn are going to have long waits throughout the day. However, if you're ok with doing single rider, you don't have to worry about waiting in line for the Matterhorn 😊 Also, find a way that you enjoy Disneyland! I personally love making small talk with random people, and playing rock paper scissors with random people in line!

was there this past sunday, we took your advice and went to adventure land first at rope drop. it worked out great. was able to get indiana jones, splash mountain, haunted mansion, pirates & big thunder railroad done with fairly quickly. headed over to fantasy land for peterpan, teacups, and alice, king arthur carrousel, pinochio & snow white. (both peterpan and alice was 30 mins wait each) followed by astro blaster ===> got food. i noticed space mountain was closed then reopened, thus i went intot he line and waited 30 mins. afterwards, we just jumped on any ride we wanted. went on the tiki event (got some pineapple icecream) bought the lightening link for rise of resistance ( felt like 5-10 min wait) . used genie plus again at night for indiana jones, astro blaster. and space mountain. enjoyed the electric parade and fireworks. magical day - rope drop to 11pm

Hi Chris, I’m a former US Marine from California who has been living in New Zealand for the last 22-years. Disneyland was always a big part of my life growing up. My late wife was Kiwi who passed away four years ago come this June. After my wife finished her cancer treatment in Germany, we went to Paris as it was a place she’d always wanted to visit. But for my birthday, she took me to Disneyland Paris. So watching your Disneyland Paris videos brought back lovely memories. We’d always wanted to bring our boys back to California to see family and of course visit Disneyland. Not everything works out the way it should. However, the borders here have just reopened and my high school reunion is coming up in July. So with this small window of opportunity, I’m coming back with my wee boy. Unfortunately, I can’t return with my stepson, but I am able to return with my 9 year old boy who has never been to America. I’ve been studying your Disneyland videos for the great tips and hacks! And today I booked a four day Disneyland resort package through Get Away Today - based on your recommendation. And what a great deal! We’re doing x4 nights! I couldn’t be happier and to be honest, I think I’m more excited about Disneyland than my wee boy! Lol Just wanted to say, you’re doing a great job! Your work has helped me immensely with planning and saving money and utilising our time while we’re home. I was originally going to just do maybe a day or two until I saw this very video I am commenting on now. (I’ve actually watched it a few times now!) Many blessings to you and thanks for the heads-up with Get Away Today! Semper Fidelis, Richard M Torres

Bring a water bottle. Most restaurants will give you unlimited free glasses of water. You can walk up and say 5 waters, no ice. Pizza planet has the best fill it yourself station, Rancho Zocollo the second best

Hey Chris! Love your videos! Just wondering if you would consider doing a video for East Coasters (WDW) who are coming to Disneyland for the first time? What rides should we skip and what rides are "one of a kind" in Disneyland/DCA. Do i waste my time doing Rise or is it the same as WDW? What treats/rides/experiences are purely Disneyland/DCA or at least better because they are different enough from the WDW versions? Thanks as always for your advice and kind words...you make the world a better place!!

Also, Chris grazed over the island pretty quick but it's my FAVORITE spot to chill in the afternoon when the main park gets super crowded. There a lots of trees and shade over there so it's cooler, a couple bathrooms and right on the river it's just beautiful. I have taken a 20min power nap over there more than once!!!!!

Excellent video. I prefer to start on the left side of the park because Adventureland, Frontierland, New Orleans Square, and Critter Country are so beautifully detailed; and it's best to take in these details during daylight hours. The opening of Galaxy's Edge only made it better.

We were told by a cast member of you want to go to rise at rope drop to go through frointer land. The line goes in that direction. Many people end up having to walk past the line to get to the end. He also said don’t rope drop rise- it breaks down a lot first thing in the AM
