I agree. The second show on Saturday (which we got to see) wasn’t as funny, and it seemed a little odd. It’s Chris Pratt so I was expecting something a little lighter, more like this first show. I’m guessing some big bad Disney boss told him to keep it serious.

Lisa if you don't mind my asking, i've sang in this choir probably 5 or 6 times throughout the last 15 years but I always go back as alumni with my old high school choir (happy to be invited back this year!) but, I always wondered.. I know the tree consists of people that work at disneyland, well from my knowledge.. how do they select you guys in the tree, do they just hold an audition for all disney workers? been curious about that for a long time!

So I was there on December 1st, but I was not there for Candlelight. I didn't even see people waiting for it or anything. I saw some of the people from the choir(s) walking around but not the performance. And by the time I got to Town Square again towards the end of my night, it seemed like Candlelight was just over. What times do they normally do it? I didn't even see anything on the times guide. I'd like to see it one day and I know that there is some standby room. I just don't know where because there was no waiting area or anything.

I never knew Disneyland did this but it's been way too long since I've been to DL, I'm an AP @WDW. Always thought it was only @Epcot in Walt Disney World. Where do they do the Candlelight Processsional at in DL? Is it somewhere in California Adventure Park? I've never been in there.

Christina Cope The first Candlelight Processional took place in 1958. Walt Disney had the idea to thank all corporate sponsors for their contributions to Disneyland. That’s why DISNEY never advertise it or sells tickets like Epcot because it’s only for invited guests Since 1958, the event takes place at Disneyland in front of the train station.

I love Chris Pratt. That being said, I did not care for the way he "read" the story of Jesus birth from Luke's Gospel. It was like he was trying to turn it into a stand up comedy routine. Just my opinion.

There are only two performances, both in the same evening of the first Saturday of December. This is because the Candlelight choir consists of a number of choirs (mostly from high schools, all selected by audition) from around SoCal, so performing multiple days would be somewhat unrealistic and definitely difficult to manage.

In the Florida version of this (called the "Candlelight Processional"), a few years ago when Whoopi Goldberg was the presenter, she started it off by saying, "I don't believe any of this, but let's see how it goes..." to which half the place gasped in dismay. Strangely, Disney has invited her numerous times since then.
