I really gotta applaud Disney for the idea of having Ant-Man "shrink" A Bug's Land into a glass dome in his hand. My heart really melted that time for Disney to preserve history by using a character from the replacement IP who is also an insect and capable of shrinking to show and tell others about his fondness about the insect theme park that used to be there.

@@FM7Studios That honestly makes me feel a bit better. I loved the bugs land area and it really got me upset that the area was gonna be replaced. But seeing the idea that ant-man decided to shrink the land in order to keep it safe makes me feel happy. I’m glad that they have not fully forgotten about the bug’s life area 🥹

Great vid! When I went to Disneyland for the first time, my friend and I went on Heimlich's Chew Chew because we saw the big line and thought it had to be some really cool, exciting ride. ...when it ended we were both like, "That was it?!" DCA 2001 was like a slightly slicked-up Six Flags park. Which is why Bugs Land was to Bountiful Farms, what DisneySea is to DCA. Although today's Disney Co under its current CEO is a creative-political mess, what Michael Eisner allowed over 20 years ago in certain ways is just as bad.

Bugs land was the ultimate in cute themed land, compared to Avengers campus where it doesn't feel particularly "themed" at all, simply throwing nods to all the characters in one big cement covered pad really doesn't feel give it much in the way of cohesiveness. That said Bugs land was great when my child was ... well essentially free to get into Disneyland, all 1 times I've done that, but if you don't have tiny kids then the attractions are kind of meh, Hemlich's Chew Chew feels like it's straight out of a parking lot traveling carnival ride, the "bumper" cars were definitely made not to give baby's whiplash, and Flick's Fliers... well that felt like the only real ride an adult wouldn't mind riding but still easily more could be done elsewhere in DCA so that whole area was a walk through area from one part of the park to the next. I mean the Bug's Life show was nice, don't get me wrong but that wasn't going to carry the whole area, it was too small to really be called a "land" it was an area for tiny kids, akin to what Toontown was (minus Roger Rabbit), but once you have no use for a "toddler's area" I'm sorry but yeah you really want to just give a big fat skip to it and get me something better, unfortunately they only gave us Spiderman which is a cool ride but with Lightning Lane is infuriating, and they a bunch of themed stores/restaurants and shows.

@@blacklikethesun I actually loved a bugs world. It felt like an immersive world of bugs. It was sad it was replaced by warehouse boxes that don’t look nothing future whatsoever. But I’m actually referring to rides like it’s a small world or Pinocchio the boat ride. Anything that takes up space and is outdated or super slow and boring. Small world only looks nice at night but inside the ride is dull and annoying and the music? Needs to go.
@blacklikethesun7 ай бұрын
@@jdos5643 the storybook land canal i can agree with but the thing is because space is so limited at disneyland proper, theres not much they can replace that area with that isnt a massive building that ruins sight lines with a simulator or a smaller coaster ride. Fantasy land has a classic charm. Its mainly for smaller kids but everyone can ride everything there. Small world is one of the most popular attractions in the world. It can get annoying but you only have to ride it once in awhile. Modern disney cant be trusted to make new rides because its all just simulators. HOWEVER, the real waste of space is....Tomorrow land. It cant be updated in a realistic manor. That land should be removed and re themed to something like an epcot or whatever.. or I would get rid of space mountain and retheme it to fantasia Bald mountain where you zoom around a giant chernabog animatronic in the center. Something like that... that land just needs to go. Massive buildings that go to waste

Loved this place. When we first went in '06, it was the only area in all of DCA that I thought was any good. The reason? Theming. It was themed to a great Disney movie. It was also perfect as my kids practically grew up going to this land. It was a right a passage for all three of them. We absolutely LOVED Heimlich's Chew-Chew - it was a great story, funny, lots of surprises. And I loved the idea of entering a land feeling like a bug from the movie. So great! I was sad to see it go. But it coincided with all my kids being of age where Bug's Land wasn't their favorite. But Marvel is! So, it totally worked out for me, though I miss the land itself. The biggest let down is that they didn't put Heimlich's Chew-Chew anywhere else in the park.

@@FM7StudiosSadly... NOPE. My kids didn't like it either when they were little - we lived in OC and had annual passes and sometimes would go 2-3 times a week. They would cry. I can't blame them. I think what I didn't like was... 1) they took the original parking lot which was nostalgic in itself to try to create a money grab 2) DCA was like a tiny "wanna be" version of Epcot or the DisneyWorld areas. I really think they should have done something that wasn't a California theme... I mean you're already in California. If you want to go see a studio there's Universal or the lesser known (but more fun if you're into films like me) the Warner Bros tour... Paramount also has a tour. And if you want to see Hollywood Blvd... just go there. ETC> ETC> I suppose they thought they would grab the out of country tourist and give them a dose of California, except that for the longest the majority of visitors were locals. I saw a stat that shows it is around 71%-80%. So I just can't see why they would push California. To take the parking lot and diminish the allure (if you can remember it) of parking and walking towards the great gates to enter Disneyland to make a pretty dull IMO experience was a waste of billions of dollars. But if you have to for money grab they should have made it a different experience altogether. I know others love it... I just can't see the point of it.

'A Bug's Life' was the very first movie I took my young son to see in the late 90s. A movie filled with the Disney integrity and values of honesty, loyalty, devotion to family and inspired individual free will to work against a totalitarian mentality of servitude. I'm grateful for that film to portray the values from Disney inspired within me from Walt's original family-fare of the 60s and early 70s. In the 21st century the same cannot be said for what Disney in name only has de-evolved into.
