When I was a kid, we went to Monterey and stayed at the Spindrift Inn - we had a room overlooking the water and you could hear the seals all night long. The room had a fireplace in it - it was SO amazing. If you guys ever get back there you should think about staying there for a night!

It was a hardcore working fish village before it became a resort town. Includes all the Del Monte plantations that are now gone as well.

What an awesome treat (the air B&B) We took this exact trip a few years ago. Started at Alcatraz, then on to Monterey and the Aquarium, then capping off the mini vacation with a few days at Disneyland. Looks like you’re having a wonderful time. Safe travels back home. 🐬🌊

If you want to see a real green flash, it really helps to have a small pair of binoculars. Be sure to wait until the Sun is almost totally gone, I'm talking the size of your pinky finger's fingernail's edge just above the horizon; you don't want to damage your eyes looking at the actual surface of the Sun with binoculars! Also, the weather conditions have to be right. No fog or clouds on the horizon at all. It's actually easier to see a green flash when the Sun sets over a distant mountain range of at least 20 or 30 miles away because it's pretty rare for there to be absolutely no atmospheric moisture over the ocean, but it does at times happen. Green flashes are just beautiful and can last a couple/three seconds. They're a bright but deep emerald green, and well worth the effort to catch. You can find pictures of them on the web, but photos just don't do them justice.

You two are so cute! I second the Idea of the Spindrift Inn in Monterey. My husband and I have stayed there a few times-not to be missed. It is absolutely wonderful. Also next time at the monterey aquarium do the back stage tour, it’s very reasonable and really really neat, a must do. If you come up to Sonoma county- come on over we’ll show ya the wine country. That is when it’s not on fire! Have a wonderful trip home, stop at the light house on your way back, we saw whales there.
