Academy Award® winner Emma Stone (“La La Land”) stars in Disney’s “Cruella,” an all-new live-action feature film about the rebellious early days of one of cinemas most notorious - and notoriously fashionable - villains, the legendary Cruella de Vil. “Cruella,” which is set in 1970s London amidst the punk rock revolution, follows a young grifter named Estella, a clever and creative girl determined to make a name for herself with her designs. She befriends a pair of young thieves who appreciate her appetite for mischief, and together they are able to build a life for themselves on the London streets. One day, Estella’s flair for fashion catches the eye of the Baroness von Hellman, a fashion legend who is devastatingly chic and terrifyingly haute, played by two-time Oscar® winner Emma Thompson (“Howards End,” “Sense & Sensibility”). This is a beautiful film. I enjoy Disney movies, but usually can't take them too seriously in the eyes of what subjectively is or can be a cinematic master piece. But this, this took me to a far away place that I will never forget, I forgot I was even watching Disney at one point. I enjoyed every ounce this brilliant little film has to offer, down to absolutely every incredible detail.

I've just finished watching it and I must say I'm really pleasantly surprised. First of all I hate prequels and sequels and cartoon remakes and secondly, even tho I'm a big Emma S fan, I never could have imagined her in this role. I must say I'm glad I was wrong. What about the Joker when he was ridiculed, beat up, etc....don't you think that was made for ppl to sympathize with him? Okay, I thought that at first, this was going to be a “Aww, she has such a tragic backstory.” And I thought it would be another one of those that wouldn’t have worked because Cruella LITERALLY TRIES TO KILL PUPPIES IN 101 DALMATIONS! But I like this route that they’re taking, because it tells me “she was always this way”, which I think was a better direction than the former.
