It was also because of the fact that they decided to move away from it being a musical live action. It doesnt take away the magic from the animated version, instead, it allows both of them to shine. An example of this is Cinderella Live Action, many of the iconic songs they didn't add into the movie, mainly because of the fact they werent trying to replace the animated one, but instead they were giving it a new light.

Glenn Close has always had the best and most accurate portrayal of Cruella. The voice, mannerisms and overall attitude she brought to life for this character will never be replaced. She kept that true authenticity of Cruella being a very English woman and also that she will speak every thought she has and doesn’t hold back from being blatantly rude. Glenn also kept the charm that Cruella has when approaching people she desires to manipulate and she made Cruella’s sense of style and passion for clothing, interior design and glamour seem completely genuine. In my personal opinion no one will ever top or come close to Glenn Close’s portrayal of Cruella De Vil.

I'm living for this resurgence. This movie was underrated for the longest time. It's nice to see it getting some recognition even if it is all about Cruella. A new generation and even an older one are seeing this for the first time. I've always loved it since I saw it when it first came out. It's nice to see it in the limelight again.

As a kid, this wasn’t just Glenn Close dressed as Cruella. This WAS Cruella! I was amazed and a little terrified, but all for it!

This version of Anita and Cruella's dynamic always made a lot more sense to me than the original's. I watched that one after this and didn't buy how those two could ever be friends.

She somehow acts even more of a cartoon than the actual cartoon character. In fact between Glenn Close in this and Jeremy Irons in Dungeons and Dragons, I can't decide whose chewing more scenery.

I also love how between this movie, the Borrowers, and Mouse Hunt, one can clearly see the influence of Kevin's antics from the "Home Alone" film series, just a few short years prior (my, how time flies! lol)

Watching this and Cruella (2021) back to back, I have to say Emma Stone had nothing on Glenn Close. Glenn's portrayal is haunting yet the perfect amount of insanity that makes Cruella the character we know.

This is unironically one of the very best acting performances by Glenn Close that is constantly undervalued because it happens to be in a Disney movie. The acting range she demonstrates when she is alternating between serious and silly while constantly bordering on absolute madness is top tier. I always get chills when she is on the phone at 2:06 and has this calm evil intensity in her eyes and voice. She is most certainly channeling her own performance as Marquise de Merteuil from Dangerous Liaisons there and is far more frightening than any other Disney villain in that moment.
