It may be confusing for non Japanese speakers, but how we call each other in conversation is effected by the youngest attendant. In this case, Simba is the youngest, that's why the teacher called Mufasa "Father" because Simba calls Mufasa "Father". On the contrary, if Mufasa talks to the teacher, he will call the man "teacher" cause Simba uses that title to talk to him.
