i find it interesting how robin and superboy's takeaways are opposites. Superboy talks about how he was happy to learn what its like to be superman whilst robin talks about how he hated finding out what it was like to be batman. Both feel guilty for what they did and how they felt whilst in those roles. Both had a pre existing concept of what the would become in the future. Superboy was unsure what it would be like, whilst robin had a naive expectation of what it would be.

I thought it the interaction betwen bruce and martian man hunter was interesting. Bruce expected the team to be over it already. Even though Bruce has lingereing trauma, he used it to drive himself to the peak of humanity. I feel like that scene really showed why batman isn't just any normal person with a mask.

The fact that the characters are so grounded is one of the show’s biggest strengths. The therapy parts of this episode are a good example of that. Even though they’re superheroes, they’re still only teenagers going through a lot of serious issues

Superboy is hot headed and has anger issues, but he's actually very emotionally intelligent. He's able to recognize and come to terms with the very complex feelings he's experiencing and chooses to go to Black Canary with them. And he's less than a year old

From my interpretation: The Source is comic book writers. The Source Wall is literally the boundaries of the comic book page. Variant Comics summarized the Darkest Knight story where The Batman Who Laughs stole Dr. Manhattan's powers and threatened the entire DC Universe. It was also a metaphor for what was happening in the comic book industry at the time. Worth the watch, worth the read.

The Source is also an entity in itself, and the most powerful being in all of DC. It is literally the Source of all life in existence, which the Presence (aka. DC's version of God) currently presides over. At some point, all of the most powerful Old Gods (the race preceding the New Gods) attacked The Source, causing it to split into many separate beings. One of these beings became the Anti-Life Equation itself, which Darkseid and the new Gods of Apokolips seek to obtain. Because of this, I suspect that it is a real possibility that if the Anti-Life Equation entity is reunited with its whole, The Source, then all of existence will once again come under the control of The Source.

There's a great primer on the New Gods in Superman, The Animated Series. The two part episodes "Apokolips... Now!" Probably the biggest reason I'd recommend it is the soundtrack. As I recall, it was done by Kris Carter. It's this beautiful, sad, grand, epic orchestral work. It's so good, it's the default music in my head whenever I watch or read anything to do with the New Gods. Plus, the episodes show you some of the history between Superman, Intergang, and Ugly's dad, whom they mostly just call Manheim. It's good stuff.

However, he did not watch Aqualad die in front of him because he was already transported to the Cave by then.
