Hollywood streaming via things like Disney+ have had a lot of issues. But is this a problem that streaming has caused or is there a deeper cause at the root of Hollywood's issues? Why are other places like Korea constantly creating good content compared to Hollywood? Can Disney Marvel turn it around, without great change in the industry?

Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power Reviews are over as season 2 came to an end on Amazon Prime video. But Lord of the Rings is a major franchise and Rings of Power a very expensive season. Season 2 finishing was just a new chance for Season 3 to be renewed, and so many more post show interviews were done to explain the series in more depth. But do they improve Rings of Power? Is Rings of Power worth watching?

The merchant people have made it very clear how they feel about me. I have no interest in their garbage propaganda. Even if they were capable of making good movies & shows again, I will never support any J affiliated media/companies. I will pirate if they’re even capable of making something worth my time, and enjoying watching them burn through all the money (that they can just print more of since they own the FED). At least they’ll know we’re sick of them. You need to stop saying “it’s California.” I’m in California and it’s easily 50% conservative. It’s the J’s. My only hope so far is that the audience will be the ones to spark change. My media teacher from my highschool was the one that taught me how important "AGENCY and CONTROL" is in the industry. The most significant example being when the Sonic movie first came out - the whole movie was pulled and re-edited because of the response to how he was animated. So if you think about it, Hollywood could easily get a big enough kick in the pants if the audience pushes hard enough. Cause tbh, with the way movies are going, any of us could write a better script than the sort of writers they pay to do the job.

Your comment on Stargate made me think of an unsung hero of the sci-fi world. And that’s Rick Berman. This was a guy who was able to juggle 24 episode seasons, often overlapping one another, and getting them in time and under budget from 1987 to 2005 with no breaks. Nowadays none of these knobs can barely excrete out 8 episodes without going way over budget with seasons that are two and three and even four years apart. Is there anyone who knows how to program a season on a network anymore?

In California, every $1 in tax credit given, $24.40 in economic activity is generated. So that’s only tax money from California citizens, not US as a whole. This also supported 200k+ jobs. But why let facts get in the way of your feelings? You have a political point you want to make and here I come in to give you facts that dispel your entire premise so other ignorant people can disabuse themselves of your drivel. A quick Google search can prevent you from being ridiculed.
@justforever96
@justforever96 12 күн бұрын
There is a reason they give tax credits. It's not just because they like to lose tax revenue and it's an honor to have a business operating in your city. They do it because even with credits, most businesses are paying _some_ taxes, which is better than the nothing you get if they go somewhere else. They hire locals who pay income taxes. They pay for utilities from local businesses who pay taxes on their profit. They increase property values, build new facilities. The workers eat at local businesses, they stop at local stores. They have jobs, where if they aren't available, they move out to find one and you totally lose that taxbase. You really think the local government just loves the idea of not getting taxes from someone and they didn't get anything out of it, they don't have any incentive to do that? And unless you somehow make tax breaks illegal universally, someone else will always find it more profitable to offer a better deal and all your business will go there instead. It's a lot like Walmart making more money by selling a lot of stuff for less. You are free to jack your own prices up thinking "if I charge more I make more profit " but the customer is going to go where it's cheaper, and your high prices aren't worth shit if 95% of the customers don't buy your product. Thats how economics works. The old saying is "I would rather have a nimble sixpence than a sluggish pound". Economic activity is far more profitable than squeezing every cent possible from every transaction, at the cost of driving your business elsewhere.

What really fucks that up for me though is when I’m watching a movie and all I can think is “Oh….this actor/actress basically told people like me to fuck off for being a straight white conservative male and accused me for some form of -phobe or -ist….” Actors should literally receive pay cuts/penalties for posting shit on social media because from box office performances, the more they open their mouths and show their ugly true forms, the less people want to watch their content.

Here in Australia the Coalition have done there best to destroy the Union movement leading to people's wages trailing the cost of living. Yeah you continue over performing, just like a hell of a lot of other people who don't have your apparent privilege in negotiating a higher wage. And before you ask, am setting up a medical business, there's a hole in our market, and will pay our employees above average, and yes are not taking a huge salary myself to get the business up and running. It's always the right claiming moral superiority on all things, the rest of us live in the real world, you know the place blue collar workers are apparently able to get those higher bucks just by performing their jobs, go talk to some MacDonald's employees on minimum wage to see what a load of rubbish that is.

It's too bad that so many people have a bias against old things, because every movie you haven't seen is a new movie to you, even if it's from the 30's. I've been a fan for decades and STILL haven't seen every pre-1970 horror and sci-fi film. I have more passion about those than I do about some new slop coming down the drain.

@@MonsterKidCory Many yars ago a work college was stating how much a movie buff he was. I asked him what sort of movies he watched and they were all modern (1990's+). He then asked me what some of my favourite movies were and I gave him a small list. He responded that he had never seen any of them, then said "are they black and white? I don't watch them". That's when I told him that he was not any sort of movie buff, if he is willing to exclude some of the best movies ever made just because they are in black and white. PS: My list included "Stalag 17", "The Apartment" and "Some like It Hot".

From Poland: I would even pay 100 PLN per month directly to a Korean company that would be created on the model of Netflix (you are able to make subtitles in different languages), just so I could watch their series with actors and animated ones. I don't understand, I can't comprehend it, I can't stand it why the Koreans cooperate with Netflix at all. They would easily create better competition on an international scale. Their series are amazing, their actors are wonderful, the special effects are satisfactory, the stories are fascinating... They have so much to show, to offer, Netflix is simply using them. South Korea should believe in its skills and open up to customers from abroad. I hate Netflix... and I absolutely miss "their" Korean series.

Noone wants to admit that the traditional male journeys tend to be more dynamic and interesting to watch to the larger audience. It's like many contact sports. Doesn't matter whether they believe it as truth or not, there's only so many times they can blame their failures on "Toxic Fandom" before they have to realise they've blamed every single failure on that same "Toxic Fandom", which cannot be the same as that other "Toxic Fandom", or that "Toxic Fandom", and realise that there's no possible way that every single fandom for every single IP they've ruined can be "Toxic", and that maybe it's their fault? No? Just me? Star Wars - "Toxic Fandom" Marvel - "Toxic Fandom" DC - "Toxic Fandom" Disney's Legacy IP - "Toxic Fandom" Lord of the Rings - "Toxic Fandom" Like, seriously, every fandom is "Toxic"? How can anyone possibly believe that?

What Disparu is describing in this video about taking less upfront for the potential reward out the backend (i.e. taking on the risk that the show or movie will not be successful and, thereby, taking some of the risk from the studio) is exactly what George Lucas did when he made the contract for Star Wars with Alan Ladd Jr. and 20th Century Fox. After the success of "American Graffiti", Lucas' agent told Ladd that Fox should increase Lucas' fee for writing and directing "Star Wars". Ladd agreed and suggested doubling the fee for both. Lucas, on the other hand, told Ladd that he didn't want the extra money, he negotiated for considerations in the contract such as the ownership of licencing and merchandising rights, and the rights to any sequels. Fox agreed and Lucas profited beyond his wildest dreams.
