It takes a lot of humility to accept to be filmed while learning something, when you know you gonna mess up things. Props to you Destiny. Keep up the good work !

This woman shoots like a boss. Her humility is an asset to some extent but she definitely could take a little credit for her skill.

Destiny, John is correct. You are, in my opinion, a very good shooter, and I would feel safe and comfortable shooting next to both you and John at the range. I'm learning a lot from these lessons and you deserve massive kudos for doing this on camera. Though new to guns, I've learned enough by now to tell that you are a far better shooter than probably 90%, or more, of most of the rest of us, including me. I will continue to work at get as good as you. Keep up the inspirational work.

Well delivered lesson as always. One comment regarding this subject. "Point shooting" Distance & competency dependant.... NO single shots, burst of 3-5 but not limited to stop your threat.

For every shot you take, whether you're training or fighting for real, you sacrifice speed or accuracy. It's up to each individual to train enough to learn instinctively which one you need to sacrifice.

Wyatt Earp once said speed is good but accuracy is final you point out practical training will instill the reflex that will help you be ready when things hit the fan you do not let panic over ride your mind set and training

I am trying out red dots and recently finished next to last at an IDPA match. I was discouraged and then remembered that just by competing I was probably near the top of gun owners and shooters. (I know once I get better at the red dots my times will be better.) Destiny needs to have confidence that she is a very good shooter. We shouldn’t compare ourselves to Robbie Latham.
@Nick--_Ай бұрын
Those first few competitions are humbling indeed but they also show you what's possible and redefine your definition of "good" when it comes to shooting. For me, that motivated me to train hard. I started doing USPSA just under a year ago and I finished dead last at my first local event. I put in a lot of work and I just got second place last weekend! You can do it!
@oklahomahank2378Ай бұрын
@@Nick--_ Oh, I have been in IDPA, USPSA, and cowboy action for years. This was just my first try with a red dot. I’m sorry, I realize now it was ambiguous. I appreciate your encouragement, though. I was accurate with the red dot, just very slow.
@SMS2884Ай бұрын
Main reason I don't shoot competition. I compete against myself everytime I go to the range. Record how good I do, and just get better everytime. Compare yourself to how good you were yesterday and everyday you'll get better.
@oklahomahank2378Ай бұрын
@@SMS2884 That’s great. To me competition adds stress because people are watching and comparing.

2:19 "Self confidence. Begin. Who are you?" .. This reminds me of Australian WW1 film "Galipoli" (Great film, BTW). The main character is a runner - a sprinter. He is trained by his father - and before every run, his father says: "What are your legs?" ... Springs. Steel Springs. "What are they going to do?" ... Hurl me down the track "How fast can you run?" .... As fast as a leopard. "How fast are you going to run?" ... AS FAST AS A LEOPARD! "Then let’s see you do it!”

It all looks easy when you know you are going too shoot, but in an emergency you dont always know who or where your attacker is coming from , so all that standing in one spot and shooting straight ahead goes out the window. You need situational awareness and be observant of all that goes on around you because the threat does not always come from directly in front of you.

@@ASPextra Forgive me but I do have a few questions. Is this just range type shooting or is this supposed to be some sort of defensive or tactical shooting? You mention bad guys and gun fights however what you are doing here does not reflect that. Just a few observations, Destiny does not get both hands on the gun until she is at the top of her draw stroke. Why? Her draw has a porpoise or casting movement to it. Why is there no follow through after a shot is fired? Why is there no type of down and scan or checking for potential threats? You do pretty much the same thing, you throw a bad shot and immediately drop the gun and re holster it. Your draw has your muzzle going over the target and dropping down into the target. Why not draw straight to the threat? Why not immediately clear your gun when it malfunctioned? You claim to be a proficient, disciplined shooter but you don't clean your training gun? Even on a film day? I feel for Destiny here because it seems to me that you are giving her a very false sense of security. You have a lot buzz words and phrases but I have serious doubts about what you claim to be teaching here. I'm not trying to be rude here but maybe you should take a hard look at what you are showing people as self defense type shooting.
@ASPextraАй бұрын
I’m guessing you are new here. Did you perform at expert levels when you were in your first year of shooting? If so, I’d love to see some video of your work so we can learn from it.
@ASPextraАй бұрын
Fixed my typo… but by all means, show me your video.
@SigMan66Ай бұрын
@@ASPextra I'm not sure who that commented is directed to but I think you are missing the point here. This isn't about expert levels, this is about basic fundamental errors in what Destiny is doing on the range. You are the supposed to be the one with all this experience but are you offering any correction or guidance? You seem perfectly fine with letting her continue to drill these bad habits. This being her first year of shooting is irrelevant, if she was taught properly from the start. But then again you make the same fundamental errors as well. I guess you can only teach what you know.
