I've been camping in this area since 1970. There is NO dispersed camping allowed on Tower Ridge Road inside the Deam Wilderness - that's both sides of the road from SR 446 to the fire tower, and the north side of the road for two miles past the fire tower. Motorized vehicles are also strictly prohibited in the wilderness area. You appear to have gone no farther than a mile or two past Todd Cemetery, which means you are squarely within the Deam Wilderness. So I'm pained to say that your camp was in fact illegal. So is driving your motorcycle a hundred yards or so off-road in the wilderness area. If you would have kept going to the Hickory Ridge fire tower (another 3-4 miles east from where you were), and then turned right onto Hickory Ridge Road, there are plenty of legal, marked, dispersed campsites, and plenty more on the backroads to the east and south. I say none of this to vilify OP, but to emphasize how important it is to visit the US Forest Service website for the specific area you are thinking of camping in, and to familiarize yourself with what is and is not allowed. The Forest Service is pretty diligent about policing this area, so OP is lucky to have not been spotted.

Going to be beautiful! Be sure to keep some DEET sprayed on. I got into a nest of "seed" ticks while I was there and had to take antibiotics for a week. Probably from a hike I took. Stupid ticks. Who ever heard of seed ticks anyway? They are like small mites but they are ticks in early development stages. I keep my stuff sprayed with Permethrin now so hopefully will keep them away.
