I'm always looking for reasonably priced RV parks. May I ask your opinion on Greentree Estates and Campground? Lou

@@LivingOurDreamNow Greentree is a very nice campground with drive thru lots also with water and electric hookups. However the new owners which is Greentree previously Oakwood Village are renovating and making big improvements to the campground as well as their apartments. They have long and short term stay as we are long term. We really like it here and happy to be here. Call for their rates if interested.

@@dianepaolonoel9643 you can Google Green Tree Estates as well. A very nice campground long and short term. Pay lot rental and your electric. Water is on a pump so no bill for that. Has bath house, swimming pool, a playground and a dog park. Good luck on your new adventure.

Since you have experience being there, are there Any Unusual things there? Or unusual Ocala history? Also, did Seminoles live there? Just curious. I'm researching America History. Florida seems to be very unique.

If they do, let motorized vehicles in ought to be no generators whatsoever because you can hear those sayings a mile away and that just ruins it for us. People who like to go out and tent camp and have peace and quiet. Frankly, I like it the way it is

There is a big difference between a national forest and a national park. Great Smoky Mountains National Park is administered by the Department of the Interior. The Ocala National Forest is administered by the Department of Agriculture.

Ughh. As someone who does like camping in the sites and dispersed there, sux about the new rules. I get it as others have said. It can be quite "shady" and dangerous if your not familiar with that area. Still, love camping out there. And yes, many campgrounds are booked up to 11, 12 months in Florida

That is true, the pay campgrounds . Have gotten more expensive and added unnecessary rules. Some Volunteers have great attitudes while others shouldn't be near people, let alone talking to them. Don't know who runs ONF but I believe they want to chase people away.

Great video!! I can't believe the Forest Service has NO information on their dispersed camping page that addresses motorized vehicles and camping. I've heard a lot of people in small campers camp in the forest. Hmmm...

@@kdsailorgirl only legal way to camp is in a tent in national forest unless it's a designated camp site ,otherwise you have 14 days in one spot, gotta be a min of 100ft from forest road, that may have changed

OK first let me say that I agree with your points. We are semi local living about an hour away and mainly visit the springs. However there are a couple of points I want to make. 1) There may be some history behind this stupid policy. The forest suffered an infestation of the Rainbow People. I don't know if this bunch still exists. But they had a large encampment with several hundred hippies and street bums in the Juniper Springs area tears ago. We came across this area when we we just exploring the roads in the area and it was not pleasant. I believe that the FS had to pull in rangers from across the SE to finally drive them out of the forest. It may have left a distinct impression on the head ranger down there. 2) The ONF is filled wile what we call sugar sand down here. It is a fine white sand that can be a foot of more deep on roads and will stop your vehicle even with 4FD. It also makes hiking most unpleasant with your feet sinking into the soft sand. And just the opposite of what you see of west rain will compact the sand and make it drivavle and hikable until the sun dries it out again. This would make backcountry camping risky off the pavement. For that reason we do not think about boondocking down there. Osceola NF has this sand to a lesser degree. 3. We have bean in many NF around the country and the ONF is the most commercialized forest I have ever seen There must be hundreds of commercial enterprises in this frost, campground, eateries, gas stations..you name it. 4. The contractors running the campground do not honor federal passes like Access Cards, they will stick you with charges. Of course wilderness areas never allow motorized anything, including vehicles. But the ecoNazi admin running some of these areas use that as a weapon to block public access. ONF is anything but wilderness and has not bee for 150 years.

I’m sure Florida has had issues in that forest. I don’t mind paying a few bucks to boondock in a designated spot. Yes you are correct, enforcing it is the answer and they are taking the easy way out. Government doing the most 🙄 or the least 😂.

Forestry cuts down trees to block roads out there way too much as well as dumping loads of red clay in front of roads to block them... or a rusty cable not visible and you could crash into it and get hurt and destroy your vehicle.. there's limited shade off of most of the accessible roads so you can't vist there without oven temperatures and blinding sun.... its quite a place...its a shame, it has soo much potential... driving near a water source will get you a 500$ fine...
