Dispersed Camping | Three Sisters Wilderness | Oregon Overlanding

We're back out as a family for the weekend out in Sisters. We attempted to find a spot on the river to cool off from the hot summer heat. We seem to be continuing our streak of unluckiness when finding a good spot with some water. See where we end up after 7 hours of driving.

We know that Saturday afternoon campsite hunt struggle all too well 😆. Fun watching y’all play in our backyard. We snowshoed to that shelter this last winter. Also the roads to the east of the Sisters have some of the worst washboards we’ve ever encountered. Have even had shackle pins drop out haha. Looking forward to chapter 2!

Haha totally! This was in an area we were familiar with, so it was like a last resort, but turned out pretty amazing! We really want to explore more in the Deschutes National Forest. One of our favorites for sure!

Heck yeah! Bring the family on up! They were super good and so easy! We planned on having ground beef and nacho sauce on them as well, but we skipped it.

Awesome camp. Nachos, yum. Next time when trying to melt the cheese, put some water on the hot scuttle under the the cover to create steam, melts the cheese better.

How do you like using the scottle vs like a Coleman double burner stove?

We like it a lot! At first I thought it was hard to get the heat right, but you can cook anything on it. So, it’s nice to have one cooking unit that doesn’t require bringing extra pots/pans and more room on a table for prep. Although sometimes I also bring the Jetboil stove along with it haha
