Been following Lucore's videos for some time now, the "no nonsense" approach to covering automotive related topics is very much appreciated. I've picked-up several good ideas compliments of Rich and Austin, Thank you Gentlemen!

I'm a Chevy fan at heart but I bought a 22 Toyota Tundra because of this issue!

GM no doubt lost a LOT of customers over this issue or burnt people who didn't purchase them. Horrible and costly situation.

Totally understand people getting bored of some of our content, there's only so much we can do to make custom alignment work exciting and engaging. That's a big part of our business though and how we spend our time, so it gets a lot of screen time as well. Thanks for sticking with us!

At this point we are going to pull the cam and check the bearings, see what's what then talk with the customer. Fingers crossed it doesn't have to go crate motor but if it does... 🤞

Of all the less than good ideas that GM has had over the years the DOD system is probably one of the worst if not THE worst. "Let them break and buy a new one" could not agree with you more Rich. Nothing scares you off a job.

The engineers that designed these vehicles have no idea on how to work on them. Putting nuts and bolts where you can’t get to them. They should have a working idea on how things have to come apart just in case. Gm should have a recall on all these engines. No way should the customer be responsible for there big mistake y
@LucoreAuto
@LucoreAuto Жыл бұрын
Ohhh you're striking a touchy nerve with a LOT of us, engineers these days aren't also wrenchers. Back "in the day" for the most part vehicles were easy to work on/take apart/reassemble, that's long long gone unfortunately. With the amount of engines that had this failure happen it's pretty shocking they never recalled them. However if they had, GM would have gone broke fixing it.

HEY GUYS IF I WERE YOU I'D PULL THIS VIDEO AND RE-EDIT IT AND CUT THE DOD DELETE I WOULDN'T ADVERTISE I DO THAT OR AT SOME POINT YOU COULD BE IN SAME BOAT AS ALL THE DIESEL SHOPS!!!! JUST A FYI but this is great info for the little guys like me to know how to have to do these kinds of jobs because of the idiots at GM,FORD,DODGE AND EVERYONE ELSE....I'm not a Karen I'd just hate to see a great shop get reported

Dod is not emission related it’s mainly for fuel mileage. I’m sure California or some bs place like that has something against it but the rest don’t. It’s not illegal to delete or disable the AFM in most states.

Cmon stealership, you don't need to pull the engine.....
@scrappy7571
@scrappy7571 Жыл бұрын
Total waste of time pulling the engine, OR removing the cab. I'm old and slow and do the old body in chassis. Tech next to me does the new body style both bank lifters in 5 hours.
@LucoreAuto
@LucoreAuto Жыл бұрын
And how does old and slow or new body style replace the camshaft that's wiped out?

Certainly not a stealership, we also aren't a shop that band-aids a repair and prays.

Remove rad and condenser. Slide out of the block if the cam bearings have not spun. We do 2 or 3 a week here, never had the cab off of any.@@LucoreAuto
@LucoreAuto
@LucoreAuto Жыл бұрын
@scrappy7571 in the time it takes you to do all that we can have this entire truck almost completely apart and ready to be worked on. You certainly are allowed to do things your way, and as a dealership tech there ARE certainly things they are going to want you to do that independent shops don't have to.

It actually looks way worse and intimidating than it is. This a very clean nice truck and still has a good long life ahead of it. Unfortunately in order to do what we need to do, the easiest way is decab and work without interference. He IS now upside down on the truck value wise but as long as he isn't planning on selling it any time soon who cares 😉
@sethster70

When you have a lift this is just about as easy as any other method, and it doesn’t ruin your back like leaning over core support. They do it a lot on diesel trucks, but it’s just about a have to on them.

@@LucoreAuto I was criticizing the engineers for the f cked up way they have designed vehicles since the mid-70s. Like Rich said in video, they don`t even want shops to work on them, they expect you to just buy a new one.
