Display Unknown Part - How to know if your iPhone screen is original or fake

I will show you to identify the different clues we have to identify if an iPhone screen display is original or fake - generic.
On the iPhone 11 and later models you can go to
- Settings
- -General
--- About
for the "Parts and service history" of your iPhone. You can also find out if the display has been replaced. If the repair was done using genuine Apple parts and processes, "Genuine Apple Part" will appear next to Display.
An "Unknown Part" message will appear if the display installation is incomplete or if the display:
- Was replaced with a non-genuine display.
- Was already used or installed in another iPhone.
- Isn't functioning as expected.
Check if your iPhone has "True Tone"
Starting on iPhone 8 and later your display screen should have True Tone. Click and hold on the brightness bar on settings, you should see the following:
- Dark mode
- Night Shift
- True Tone
If you have an iPhone 8 and later and you don't have "True Tone" chances are your screen is not original, but we can't be 100% sure.

You answered a question I've had for awhile now. Only genuine iPhone screens are installed at authorized Apple repair shops. Never knew where or if I could buy genuine iPhone screens. Now I know. I can't buy anywhere.

You can buy genuine iPhone screens if you buy used ones that are either still in good condition or been refurbished. Apparently you will still get the error message

My iPhone 12's screen checks out on everything but it has a pretty fat bottom bezel. It has true tone, face ID, and no unknown part repair on the settings tho.

if you compare the screens of the iphone 11 to iphone 12, there’s a huge difference. You’re talking about screen bleeding its because ip11 has IPS display unlike the ip12 have a OLED display. IPS Display has always have a screen bleed on borders like shadows because they using backlight even in genuine you can see that but the difference is the quality of the screen. Unlike OLED has its own backlight per pixels and its organic so there’s no bleeding on them.

Very useful wish I’d seen your video before getting my screen replaced thinking it was genuine. I had my iPhone 11 screen replaced with what he called genuine refurbished screen but after 24hours I get the message ‘unknown part’ I wouldn’t have had it replaced had I have known this would be documented in my phone history . Though do you know if the message disappears after 14 days ? I read on Reddit a user saying the message goes away - but if message goes away can Apple still know? I’ve been offered a solution of replacing IC chip to void this message - do you know if that works ? Or will it create more warning messages on Apple iPhone 11 upwards?

Apple will keep that info in his database. You can try the IC chip thing, but it should been done at the beginning, so Apple won't detected the replaced screen. Now it's up to you. My opinion, leave it as is.

I have the same phone and I just got it replaced Teo days ago, and every time I put it in my pocket it starts doing random shit and it never did that even when it was cracked I’m not sure if it’s normal Cz it’s new and it’s sensitive and also some setting are a little different now

Good question, looks like you only see "parts and service history" if your screen has been replaced, so if you don't see it on your iPhone 11, that's are fine.

Chances are, but not 100% sure, it could be original but they didn't trasnfer the True Tone info to the new screen.

No it never really mattered, things like True Tone won’t affect or change the performance of your phone

@@SuAmigoAlex just got a 12 pro max and the screen has a purple mark which seems like pressure from the other side. the screen also has white dots like pressure pop up when its touched at certain places even very very lightly, and it says that the screen may not be genuine in the settings. plus face id not working either. should i just get a refund?
