I'm not a Villa fan, but at the time I thought that Gabby had the attributes to be a deadly striker. He was super fast and his finishing wasn't too bad for the level that he and Villa were at. He even made the England squad at times. I thought that he just needed a move to a club higher up the table to get exposure to different pressures, coaching on his shortfalls and having higher expectations; but when I listen to his punditry I realise that his issue was his mentality and he was actually happy at the level that he was. He wasnt aiming to be the best footballer that he could possibly be, he was just aiming to do the bear minimum to turn up for Villa and party after hours.

United weren't just great players naturally, they put in the effort which is something that Gabby never did. @@kingkong6148 again you have no clue of what you are talking about. If what you are saying is true that would mean there are no elite footballers today because they are "princesses". Yet there are elite footballers who are winning everything under the sun without going through the "hard men" routine. Keane is soft compared to players who played in the war era. So does that mean he is a princess as well. There are different generations who have their own problems/war to fight. What you are saying is like me saying you are still an average folk because you are moaning on KZbin instead of working hard in your life. That is wrong of me to say because o have no idea what your struggles are. Get some perspective and stop living in the past.

Every time I listen to Gabby he tarnishes his Villa reputation more and more 😣. The players at that time were an embarrassment to the club and themselves. You are there to work hard to succeed (remunerated ridiculously for this) , not just have a fun and easy environment around the training ground. Roy Keane did exactly what anyone in his position should have done.

Roy Keane came in and expected professional standards. Did Keane expect them to be prime United-quality? No chance. He expected them to fight and get the best out of themselves, but Gabby wanted to stay in the comfort-zone which is probably why he retired at 31 and only the Villa-fans remember much of him.
