Totally agree with Traci on this one. Don't bring a baby into an upscale restaurant. But if you do, take the baby outside if it starts crying.
@rebecca85254 күн бұрын
I'm really glad to see that you and so many people have this take. Yes, Traci was rude in the manner and tone of voice that she used, but for many of us, it's not just something we can ignore. I am neurodivergent and so I am unable to tune out unwanted sounds, especially when they are unexpected and are particularly loud. If I am in the midst of conversation and I am suddenly interrupted by an unexpected noise, it can totally throw off my train of thought. I once heard it described as such: think of it as riding on a train and it suddenly stops when you're not expecting it. If you are neurotypical (that means, you're like most people and don't have any neurological or sensory conditions) and you're interrupted, then the train can just keep going the way it had been, like nothing happened. But when a person with a condition such as ADHD or autism is unexpectedly interrupted, it's like the train gets derailed and goes off the track. If this happens constantly and/or several times within, say, an hour or so, it causes me to feel extremely stressful and anxious. I understand that babies cry because that's what they do, and they're too young to communicate any other way; however, please be courteous to people like me and don't take small babies or toddlers to places where an atmosphere of quiet is expected. Neurodivergent people like me specifically seek out such places. There are plenty of family friendly restaurants and other venues where people won't be bothered by babies crying, and ND people like me know to avoid such places. Your baby won't be a baby forever. If you can afford an expensive restaurant, you can afford a babysitter!

It’s not unpopular. This show I usually like but this time really stupid. Most people I mean 90% of the time would never be ok with a screaming baby in an upscale restaurant. That’s why this is just a show, and even then some guys and a women were complaining. It’s extremely rare that people would be ok for their nights to be ruined. And I look at these parents as what they couldn’t even afford a baby sitter/nanny or care to wait until they can find one but selfishly they wanted to go out. Only happens in America too that a show tries to make it ok when it’s not. Ridiculous. This would never be ok anywhere. That’s why there actually are restaurants that do not welcome small children under certain age and there are adult only cruise ships even before pandemic (they’ve been around for a long time).

Not allowing babies in high-class restaurants doesn't sound as bad as it seems. It's not like the babies are gonna eat the food there, and if the parents can afford to eat there, they can afford a sitter. I mean what if there's parents there eating on their night out away from their kids and then they hear a baby crying? It's not a bad rule, people wanna enjoy their high-class meals
@viking9563 жыл бұрын
I sort of kinda agree. I don't mind that parents bring their babies but it is a little disrespectful at an upscale restaurant. A good rule of thumb would be if the dress code requires a jacket or if one can expect a bill above $200 for a party of two, seems like that kind of environment customers would not want to be disturbed. And there's plenty of other options for young parents; it's not like it's a city ordinance banning babies from ALL public eateries.
@johnnyboy-ws3we2 жыл бұрын
Yeah plus my parents never went out to dinner by themselves that very often when i was a kid in 90"s i wish they could have so it would be either my godfather who just passed away 6 months ago along with his wife or my uncle who passed away in 2019 or my grandparents with my aunt or my other aunt would either order food or go get dinner

The only reason it would irritate me is because they're literally doing nothing to comfort the baby. I don't mind the sound, I don't find a baby crying "annoying" it's sad. Add me to the "you shouldn't bring small children to an upscale restaurant" crowd. Even in a family restaurant, your children should keep the decibel level down. That is part of being a parent and being considerate of fellow diners. This goes for other public spaces such as movie theaters. We have two children and there have been times that we had to step out when our children were disruptive. We've canceled plans as well due to not having a sitter. It depends on the child as well. Our daughter is the mellowest kid you'll ever meet. She is six and she'd be just fine going to an upscale restaurant. She's more mature than most adults I know. Our son, on the other hand, is a hellion and I'd even worry about taking him to a Chuck-E-Cheese!

@Mrdumguy2 жыл бұрын
@@MartialArtswithLucyLu It is bothering me, though. By making that horrible, high-pitched loud crying. And in this video, the "parents" of the "baby" do nothing to help. They said, "Oh he's probably just tired" but even then, babies don't cry like that and you can attempt to put your child asleep. And it's especially bothering to people who have sensory issues and even for those who don't, it's just very distracting, hard to listen to and you can't sit there for an hour or however long it take to eat out. Just because you have a baby doesn't mean you can't live your normal life, but no doubt, in many ways, your life will and has to change. For others, and honestly for yourself. It's selfish to allow your child to disrupt everyone else in the diner just because you refuse to help your baby by taking them outside for a second or quickly calming them down. If you can't afford a babysitter and nobody you know is willing to take care of them on that day, wait until another day that you can find a way to have your baby/young child somewhere else so you can have a fancy dinner date. And fancy dates at fancy diners where you pay a ton of money aren't all that anyway. You can have fun in other ways, like having a date in the comfort of your own house. But at the very least, if you're going to have a dinner date at a fancy restaurant, make sure your baby isn't crying constantly. Making nearly everyone else in the diner suffer just so you can go to some fancy diner and not attempt, at all, to make your baby not such a distraction isn't right. Plus, if you can afford to go to some fancy restaurant but can't afford to find a babysitter for a couple hours, you should maybe rethink your financial decision to go to that restaurant at all.

They key word here is "public place". Just because you are somewhere where you are surrounded by other members of the public, does not mean you are in a "public place". A restaurant or store is considered _private property_ , and the owner(s) or manager(s) are well within their right to expel or bar any customer for any reason so long as it does not violate civil rights. Even public buildings (such as schools, libraries, etc.,) are owned and administrated by some type of government entity which exercises the same rights as owners of private property. The bottom line is that many people have an overdeveloped sense of entitlement and feel that they can do or say anything they wish, or act or behave however they wish in these types of settings.
@sean20156 жыл бұрын
@Rose Tico Enthusiast WRONG. Take a walk around your neighborhood some time. You'll probably see some stores have signs that say "We Reserve the Right to Refuse Service to Anyone". That's because they're private property and they have the right to ask anybody to leave if they want to. If you're asked by a store manager to leave and you refuse to do so, the police will show up. Try using that argument with them, try saying "hey it's public, I deserve to be here". Let me know how it goes. Or just go ask a lawyer if you don't believe me.

You have no clue how expensive babysitting is. It isnt like the 1990's where you pay $5 an hour or $9 an hour for 2 kids.. Now you are paying kids a minimum of $16.75 an hour for 1 kid and $20 an hour for 2 kids. Its ridiculous what children are charging for babysitting. If your kid is a great kid (meaning sleeps alot) take them out. It isn't a big deal. My nephew was in his first bar at 3 weeks old. He slept through the partying. Mom got to socialize with friends and my brother got to drink with his frienda.
@rc-jatodaniel3 жыл бұрын
@@jessicaely2521 A close relative can babysit for free maybe. Also, your nephews parents are stupid and iresponsible. You dont party at a bar when you have a 3 week old baby to take care of. Either you grow up and stop partying while the baby is that young and wait until the baby is old enough for babysitting or dont have a baby at all. You dont bring a baby to a bar. What is the point having a baby if you want to be free from it just after 3 weeks and party instead? Answer: no point, end of story.

Thank you!! When my babies were little there were many times my husband and I took turns eating while one of us comforted the baby away from everyone else. It's just common decency. I was at Texas roadhouse last night and someone had a baby screaming for 20 plus minutes. I don't care if people bring babies, just get your lazy butt up and take them outside if they start crying!
@Mrs.J.D.B3 жыл бұрын
I agree, i would take my crying baby outside, but not just as courtesy to the other people there, but also to tend to my baby's needs. It's certainly not okay to ignore your crying baby for 15 minutes without even trying to console them. They are crying for a reason, not just to get attention for the fun of it. If there was a baby crying in a restaurant i was in, i wouldn't be bothered by the fact that the baby was crying to have it's needs met, unless the parents weren't doing anything about it, parents needs to respond to their children's needs regardless of where they are. This video was actually very hard to watch as the parents didn't even try to comfort their crying baby.

i actually completely agree with that chef saying high end restaurants should not allow babies. babies make noise and noise is a nuisance. it's not about loving or hating babies, it's about paying good money to treat yourself to go to a place with a relaxing and enjoyable environment and there's nothing enjoyable nor relaxing about listening to a baby crying. a couple who have a baby are of course welcome at a stylish restaurant but it's normal to expect them to plan ahead and arrange for the baby to not be with them if they want to enjoy that kind of atmosphere. if you have a noisemaker with you then apparently you don't care about the relaxing atmosphere anyway so you might as well just go to mcdonalds or smth. no one goes to a nice restaurant expecting loud persistent noise. no one.
