Thank you! My 9-year-old son just received this diagnosis. Any and all information is so helpful and I am hoping that I can get those in his life to see that this is more than just a behavior problem. We have done therapy, we have done occupational therapy without much success. I hope to see more videos like yours so that I and other parents can help our children find the right support.

What is the difference between DMDD and PTSD in children? My child was diagnosed with DMDD over a year ago and it really seems like PTSD is more appropriate for him.

My son is 9 and was diagnosed with DMDD when he was 7. He has been in and out of brick-and-mortar since kindergarten. He's a bright student (gifted program, honor roll) but he struggles with controlling himself. Since he started medication almost two years ago, he also struggles with sleepiness. Neither of these issues help get him to school and keep him there. That said, I do think he does better behaviorally in school than at home. He learns more at home (most homeschoolers do) but since he saves his angriest behaviors for home, his learning is often interrupted. At school, he faces peer pressure and I think that is helping him to learn self-regulation. I homeschooled/cybershooled my eldest all the way through to graduation because I know kids can learn more at home and I like being with my children. In all honesty, though, I prefer my 9yo to go to school because it gives my 5yo son, and myself, a break from the chaos. Hang in there!

Hi Tami, have you found anything yet that's helped your son? My 9-year-old has this, and I feel so lost navigating options. Hugs to you.

I'm 14 and I have DMDD and I've been hearing voices does anyone know if it's normal for me to experience this?
@stevesteve17294 жыл бұрын
No, I would seek help from your physician, parent or other healthcare provider. Hearing voices can possibly be indication of other more complicated problems. Hearing voices now may not be an issue, but they can lead to command hallucinations where the voices begin telling you to harm yourself or other people. There is help available, and I suggest you reach out to a parent or guardian. There are treatments that can help you. The sooner you get help the healthier and happier your life will be. :)
