Tucker still has 2 years of arb, so he's not leaving just yet. Very possible Bregman is brought back on a slightly friendly deal (No Texas income tax plays). My feeling is that Crane wouldn't have signed off on trading our top 2 OF prospects last year if they weren't going to make a serious run at Tucker. I personally think Bregman is a cornerstone, pure professional, gotta keep him, but I trust the FO.

I think Crane will resign Tucker. He's relatively young and (at least during the regular season) is a consistently dominant player. Unless Bregman accepts a 5-6 year deal or allows it to be deferred like Ohtani, I think he's gone. The only other way I see Crane bringing him back is if the Astros win another World Series and Bregman plays a significant role. He'll eat the cost in that scenario since you don't break up a team coming off a title.

The rotation will no doubt be the x-factor for Houston. But I give credit to Jim Crane the last two offseasons for being so active in free agency, an area he so notoriously didn’t take notable risks in during the first decade of his ownership tenure. Abreu was a risky signing but when at full health, he played great even at age 36. And if Hader stays in All-Star form, that bullpen trio of him, Pressly and Bryan Abreu is almost unfair.

And we can talk about whether or not everyone cheats in some form or another until we’re blue in the face, but the 2017 championship will forever have a dark cloud over it. So I get it when people say the Astros currently only have one legit WS title, but hopefully one day mlb fans as a whole will see how great this current run by them has been. So as a loyal fan, I stand by my team in the good and the bad and make no apologies.
