It was a sweet postseason for Astros fans and they deserve it. They have been the best team in baseball in the last 7 years and they are positioned to be a contender for a few more years with the way they are set up
@drbryant23 Жыл бұрын
They deserve this one. 2017 is tainted because of the cheating. No one in the history of baseball cheated like the 2017 Astros. The statistics tell the story. Yu Darvish has the highest career K rate among righthanded pitchers in MLB history (!), and against the Astros in June (before the cheating system was implemented), he held them to one hit in 7 innings. But in the World Series, with the cheating, the Astros only had ONE swing and miss at an offspeed pitch. If you understand baseball, you know that's statistically highly improbable. Yes, it really wasn't possible against a team that stole signs throughout the postseason, resulting in statistical anomalies that the baseball world has never seen. A team where (with the sole exception of 40 year old Beltran) every single player improved OPS from 2016 to 2017, and the players with the worst career stats saw the most improvement (Jake Marisnick and Marwyn Gonzalez improved by over +200). I do respect Jose Altuve- I think he is very talented and according to Correa, Altuve was disgusted by the cheating, and got angry when teammates tried to feed him signs. But the fact of the matter is that he had the best year of his career in 2017. It's a massive advantage. Imagine not having to read scouting reports or watch films late at night, trying to figure out pitcher tendencies. In fact, you don't even need to scout opposing pitchers - a huge advantage over teams that were trying to compete honestly. No wonder they were cheating all season, even against teams that lost 100 games, like the White Sox and the Mariners. At that point, it's not even baseball any more. It's some other game.

This Astros team was so good it could have advanced & won another round even after the World Series and to leave no doubt in the minds of the Terminally Foolish they absolutely destroyed the Yankees during the season AND in the playoffs. Philly was great, but this was the first time I have ever seen a 450ft home run turn an entire team into a pumpkin.
@Mr.DerekReese2 жыл бұрын
They withered on the vine in game 4 after being mystified by Cristian Javier & Co. But yeah... Yordan drove a 450 ft dagger straight through the heart of all those Philly Fanatics.

When Castellanos made his “no wires needed” gesture after game 1 I knew karma would come for him and it did. Last out in game 6 on a weak desperate swing.

When we lost 2 world series’s against the Nationals and Braves, I was broken. I was so sad and pretty depressed about it. I thought that we would choke another one against the Phillies, but that wasn’t the case. When Kyle Tucker made that catch, I was happier than anyone else. I was literally yelling “YES” and jumping around like a kangaroo 😂

It’s probably a good thing Alvarez hit that home run in the sixth inning. If he hit that as a walkoff there is no telling how many people have heart attacks across Houston and Philly.

Hey, I’m old school, but I don’t mind the game evolving.. And I don’t speak up too often.. However, I just don’t understand how you are 3 outs from elimination, you’re down 3 runs, and 3 different batters swing at the first pitch they see?.. You gotta take until a strike is thrown there.. Especially Harper and Castellanos.. Inexcusable..

As a Philly fan, congrats astros! Up until game 4 it was a WS for the books! It was so unpredictable who would be leading in the next inning! After game 4 it became pretty predictable who would win. But, I am very proud of the Phillies for the underdog story (even though they lost). And although I still am kind of skeptical of the astros bc of the cheating scandal a couple years ago, I can say this WS run for them looked a lot more authentic and well earned. Congrats both teams for the undoubtedly exciting games!
