It's possible that EX mode Cloud has by far the easiest time with Feral Chaos. Why? Because his unique Ultima Weapon (Crush) bonus raises all of his melee attacks to high priority, which means they outright beat all of Feral Chaos's brave attacks in priority. You can pretty much just keep attacking and not worry about being parried or blocked (except by, say, Deus Iratus). The whole x2 damage bonus when at full health doesn't hurt either.
Cloud's unique bonuses in EX mode make it worthwhile to do the entire fight like this. Other characters just don't do as much damage in their EX mode in the context of this boss fight, which doesn't justify opening yourself up to EX break from Feral Chaos's assist. Or they can't land HP attacks as reliably as Cloud can, and thus don't get to abuse EXP to EX as often. However, I might still try this setup on someone else again sometime, if I feel it's worth it.
I've watched several other players try Cloud for this fight before, and thought I'd do it using what I believe to be an optimal damage setup for this fight. The only thing I'd consider changing is Fenrir vs. Ultima Weapon. At full health, Ultima Weapon has +1 ATK over Fenrir, but Fenrir has the whole wall rush damage bonus going for it. My reasoning was that if I can hit 9999 brave with Fenrir anyway, then the +1 ATK doesn't really help me, while the HP wall rush damage is always useful. You can still go either way, though.
For accessories, I just went with more damage and wall rush boosts. Mathematically speaking, the best damage %+ build should use Hyper Ring + Muscle Belt/Earring, and as many boosters as you can afford to keep up. If you add, say, a Power Ring, that's only +3% to the +12% you already have, for a flat boost of x1.25 even after factoring in your other boosters. If you used any x1.3 booster that you can always keep up (like Pre-EX Revenge), then you're already getting more of a bonus from that than from the Power Ring (and you're boosting that Sniper Eye too!).
Let's do the math:
Damage:
2x Cloud's EX mode bonus
200% Base for critical damage (Fragile Pride + EX Critical)
+190% damage bonus from accessories
+15% damage bonus from equipment (Auto-Crossbow)
Plug that in to the damage formula: (% bonus and critical bonus add, Cloud's EX bonus multiplies)
(200% + 205%) x 2 = 810% of normal damage. Yeah, that's a lot.
HP Wall Rush:
+40% from equipment
+158% from accessories
25% base + (25% x 1.98) = about 74% of HP hit on wall rush
Gosh, after all of that...where do I go from here?
