They made higher detail models for the mainline Dissidia games, which looked great but came at higher time and labor cost. The OO models are much simpler and used for practically every character, which makes them look deformed compared to their original models or designs. So it's only a matter of skinning a generic humanoid model and setting up some animation sequences to get the entire playable cast of Type0 in. It's even easier in FFRK because that's pixel art.

As of now, they have about 200 or so characters, and even manage to flesh out story for characters that had next to none (one of the more recent Lost Chapters had Reks from FF12, who gets about 10 minutes of screen time and zero backstory attached to him in the OG game)

Speaking as someone who finds the original Massive Explosion a bit obnoxious (I dreaded the Dissidia events in FFRK more for the song than the nuke-happy fights and Shantotto dewalling you), I really love this arrangement. Just putting the energy across through rhythm instead of a loud wailing voice does wonders.

yea right now i would say leon and tidus are WAY better then cloud (altho idk if we should count event characters tho) with that being said cloud is rather good BUT i wouldn't say best (in FFBE cloud has a better chance of being called "top tier" than in opera omina)

Really not true now XD Having played it Cloud, for me, is one of my medium characters. with my top being Zell and Sabin. i really dont look at the tier list as everyone feels like they are all useful in their own regards.
