The tone he takes when talking to Sephiroth, and the fact that he didn't make a joke, makes it pretty clear that Kefka is at least worried about fighting him. Kinda makes sense when his fighting style flat out states that Sephiroth is the best swordsman in the entirety of final fantasy history, and has very high level magic on top of that. Sephiroth is a slightly broken character really with all the power he has, not to forget his immortality from bonding with the lifestream.

err...sephiroth is very well defined in the compilation of 7, which has more holes in the plot than swiss cheese, first he wanted to give the planet back to the cetra when he though jenova was a cetra, then he wanted to damage the earth enouph to become a god and then take control of the life stream(which he has in advent children) in order to take control of the planet through the lifestream(deathstream) to "sail the darkness of the cosmos" and "find a new planet, and create a shining future"

I don't know...judging by his line "How about you give me that power?" to Ultimecia, maybe he wants her? But it'd be just SO funny if Kefka spat out an "I hate, hate, hate hate HATE YOU!" at the end of a battle where Sephiroth shreds him to ribbons. Must be difficult for Chaos, keeping the mad clown-mage and the silver swordsman from having a go at each other when they're supposed to be challenging Terra and Cloud respectively.

You actually support my comment. You have listened well that his motives and ambitions changes in everey game. I found this confusing and a bit illogical, if he has in every game another goal. So Kefkas "Yeah you are the famoust villian, but you have no clear goal, there IS something not right" is fitting the Sephiroth trolling.

That's not what that comment meant, though. Kefka's comment was supposed to reference the fact that Sephiroth doesn't appear to have any actual goals when compared to the other villains. Kefka basically just thinks he's "dead weight" to the villain team. He doesn't fear Sephiroth in the least. Wittenburg said as such in an interview a long while back.

He doesn't have a goal in the eyes of the other villains. Yes, his own personal goal is to mess with Cloud, but to someone like Kefka, who cares only about killing and destruction, they doesn't see that as a "goal". All the other villains want to destroy, or to rule, and so on, and Sephiroth is completely uninterested in that. Kefka's comment is meant to reflect that. Like I said, Wittenburg mentioned that in an interview back then. A lot of people ask about that particular quote

@LordManda2 In the first one, Sephiroth DID want revenge, but that was only a small piece of the plan. He planned to use the lifestream to become a God and fulfill his mother's legacy. The plan he had in Advent Children was just the next phase of the plan. Dissidia doesn't really count toward the FF7 story. Neither does Kingdom Hearts. In both, he only wants to fuck with Cloud's head, because it's fun!

No, that would more likely be Sephiroth who lusts for Terra's beauty in addition to her power, judging by the fact that *she's* the only one the silver swordsman doesn't either threaten or disdain. Either that or Sephiroth finds Kefka so annoying that he really wants Terra to defeat the mad clown-mage...he'd maybe even knock Kefka down a peg for her if Terra wasn't in such close league with Cloud.
