Many many years ago I used to play Maplestory. The game was a cancerous grind and rng-fest if you wanted to be top-tier. Hours and hours of grinding levels and weapon scrolls that had a 30% chance of working and a 10% chance of destroying your weapon if it fails. Naturally with such investment someone would want to post their damage on YT or forums. "Didn't count. You're using takoyaki." That being a simple attack boosting food anyone could buy for a little bit of currency IIRC.

It wasnt the unrestricted runs that was the problem, it was his inability to beat certain bosses. I remember a time he couldn't get close to getting melania to phase 2 so this doesn't disprove all that happened before. Being bad at something isnt a bad thing if you have the dedication to get better like he has. His persistence is basically a superpower and success is nothing without feeling failure first.

It's said that there are two kinds of geniuses, the “ordinary” and the “magicians.” The ordinary one is someone who anyone could be just as good as, if we really threw ourselves into it for a very, veeery long period of time. You can see that's not somethign you can currently achieve, and that it would not be easy, but it seems achievable. And then there's the "magicians". They are someone whe excells so much at something, that even if you udnerstand how it was done, you know there's no way you can reach that level. I think this run is an example of the latter.

It has a fucking S in STR scaling, great range, and a good moveset. It was always a great weapon.

@@RealLockheedMartin I mean, the scaling really doesn't say much. it effectively has no L2, you can't switch the ash of war and it can't be buffed. It is easily outclassed by any other weapon for a regular playthrough, but it looks absolutely fucking dope and for rl1 specifically it has no stats req, giving you the max possible flexibility with talismans.

So for weapons at RL1, scaling doesn't really matter right? If so you could go for the meteoric ore blade. It's right next to Fort Gael, where you go for Flame Grant Me Strength and the starscourge talisman. Might have to adjust talismans but it can definitely be used at RL1, does way more damage and bleed, you get the benefit of actually having a usable weaponskill. Just food for thought.

They have the shimmer if you've never interacted with one before (it drops a multiplayer item). If you don't have it, then you've already interacted with at least one and gotten the item before.

@@realname8362 i like the any% runs because they will usually show you game play that you have never seen anyone else do and in many cases didn't even think was possible. also they are usually a lot quicker so there's less of a time investment to enjoy the run. For me personally after I've beaten the game a few times it almost feels tedious watching someone play through the whole thing like this. I don't know what it is, but maybe after spending hundreds of hours running around the map in the game, I become less interested in watching other people run around the map without the zips. That's not to say what Distortion2 does here isn't impressive, he is definitely among the best. Just that it doesn't have the same level of entertainment for me personally. Although I do respect that other people will have different views and may enjoy this run more than any of the others.

Question: How does he use the two faith incantation ? they have a faith requirement of 15 and 25, i think you can easily get +5 from equipment but 15 seems impossible.

I've yet to finish but he only appears to use Flame Grant me Strength (15 faith) which can be done at SL1 on a wretch using either the +5 talisman or the +5 attribute great rune buff, the other buff he's using is the golden vow weapon art as opposed to the golden vow incantation, same effect but no faith requirement.
