It's said that there are two kinds of geniuses, the “ordinary” and the “magicians.” The ordinary one is someone who anyone could be just as good as, if we really threw ourselves into it for a very, veeery long period of time. You can see that's not somethign you can currently achieve, and that it would not be easy, but it seems achievable. And then there's the "magicians". They are someone whe excells so much at something, that even if you udnerstand how it was done, you know there's no way you can reach that level. I think this run is an example of the latter.

@@realname8362 i like the any% runs because they will usually show you game play that you have never seen anyone else do and in many cases didn't even think was possible. also they are usually a lot quicker so there's less of a time investment to enjoy the run. For me personally after I've beaten the game a few times it almost feels tedious watching someone play through the whole thing like this. I don't know what it is, but maybe after spending hundreds of hours running around the map in the game, I become less interested in watching other people run around the map without the zips. That's not to say what Distortion2 does here isn't impressive, he is definitely among the best. Just that it doesn't have the same level of entertainment for me personally. Although I do respect that other people will have different views and may enjoy this run more than any of the others.

So for weapons at RL1, scaling doesn't really matter right? If so you could go for the meteoric ore blade. It's right next to Fort Gael, where you go for Flame Grant Me Strength and the starscourge talisman. Might have to adjust talismans but it can definitely be used at RL1, does way more damage and bleed, you get the benefit of actually having a usable weaponskill. Just food for thought.

When malenia does that spark attack and you roll into it, you can actually attack her, and she won't hit you with the last quick spark. I beat her with this exact weapon first time I played, and this was my favorite move of her's for this exact reason.

Yea you can interrupt it. If she does the slow followup to that attack you can get a charged r2 which is what I was hoping for. Very rng though

No summons btw, agreed with that. Bosses are already RNG. Some have moves that puts you in a waiting queue, can't hit them, can only dodge or wait. Don't have to add more RNG to a run by summoning Tiche to oneshot a boss while some other guy just got an evading mouthbreather. It's not extra arbitrary, it just ensures that someone doesn't lose because their summon decided to dolphin-dive off the planet costing them half their damage.

This is not a glitch. It is however abusing an in-game mechanic. He died close to a stake of Marika which makes him spawn at it. Just smart from him. Not a glitch.

I've yet to finish but he only appears to use Flame Grant me Strength (15 faith) which can be done at SL1 on a wretch using either the +5 talisman or the +5 attribute great rune buff, the other buff he's using is the golden vow weapon art as opposed to the golden vow incantation, same effect but no faith requirement.

People really need to be reintroduced to the differences between exploits and glitches (and bugs, to some extent). Aside from the Haligtree elevator skip, NOTHING in this even borders on being a glitch. The Stake death skips are just developer oversights for how a Stake of Marika gets activated, which is a textbook Exploit. Developer oversights are usually exploits, if something doesn't work it's usually a bug, if something does something completely unexpected it's usually a glitch; basically, if everything is working correctly but you would never think to use it in that way IT ISN'T A GLITCH.

Many many years ago I used to play Maplestory. The game was a cancerous grind and rng-fest if you wanted to be top-tier. Hours and hours of grinding levels and weapon scrolls that had a 30% chance of working and a 10% chance of destroying your weapon if it fails. Naturally with such investment someone would want to post their damage on YT or forums. "Didn't count. You're using takoyaki." That being a simple attack boosting food anyone could buy for a little bit of currency IIRC.

That’s what i find funny about speed runs is just what important NPCs think when it happens. Like Margot being beaten in stormveil only to be beaten an hour later by the same naked dude/lady

It wasnt the unrestricted runs that was the problem, it was his inability to beat certain bosses. I remember a time he couldn't get close to getting melania to phase 2 so this doesn't disprove all that happened before. Being bad at something isnt a bad thing if you have the dedication to get better like he has. His persistence is basically a superpower and success is nothing without feeling failure first.

I never even said 1st try about anything so stop making things up to meet this narrative you've created in your head. He couldn't beat many bosses and looked like someone who had never played a souls game in trying to do so. Much like we all have many, many times playing elden ring. I was actually praising his persistence, not being critical or angry.
